So, i just bought this device from a friends friend who hasn't used it for a few months and even when i got it, it was 4.2 and WiFi was not working. But the problem is that i can't switch it on. When i try and press to switch it on, it doesn't do anything. Even in the notification bar, i can't turn it on.
So, what is the safest thing for me to do and fix this and is it even fixable?
The device is not rooted or flashed in any way. It's plain stock.
If somebody could reply with a step by step procedure to fix this, i would be really greatfull.

If that was my phone and I did not want to root it this is what I would do.
Download Ktoonsez International 4.3 kernel:
http://ktoonsez.jonathanjsimon.com/sgs4/TW/KT-SGS4-JB4.3-TW-INTL-12.22.2013.zip
Then rename the file to "update.zip" and copy it from computer to the phone's
internal sdcard.
Before anything else, use the file manager which is in your app drawer just
to be sure that the filename is "update.zip".
(it cannot be anything else unless you root the phone)
Once you are sure of the filename, reboot the phone into the stock recovery mode
and select the option "flash update.zip" or the wording might be "install update.zip".
If you cannot find update.zip it means that you have re-named it wrongly
or you have not copied it to /sdcard.
It cannot be in some folder, it must be in the root of your sdcard.
If worst came to worst and it was my phone and the above did not work
I would simply root the phone and flash a custom recovery after that it
would be a very easy fix.
Good luck!

I've tried doing that, i've placed the "update.zip" on both my external sdcard and internal phones memory.
When i click to go update it displays no package is anywhere to be found.
God damn it.
Any other options ? :/

Is this going to work even without rooting my device ?
I've tried what you suggested but i can't get ODIN to see my device unless it's powered on.
PS. This is what i have:
"Android system recovery <3e>
Volume up/down to move highlight;
power button to select
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache"

Any custom recovery you'd suggest ?
One fun night
Well, this has been a fun night for me... It's 5:40AM at the moment while i'm writing this post. Take into consideration that i've had 0 experience in android phones before i've started flashing my Galaxy S4 a few hours ago.
So, first off, i've tried installing just the WiFi fix, had no luck. After that i've had trouble while instaling a custom rom (I9505XXUEMJ7-PRE-ROOTED-KNOX-FREE-ODEX-FULL.tar.md5) and i soft-bricked my phone. After that i've read that changing the USB port might solve the problem with ODIN so i've done that and it really fixed later. Had trouble with partitioning so i've had to find out what a PIT file was and where to download it. I flashed "I9505XXUEMJ7-PRE-ROOTED-KNOX-FREE-ODEX-FULL.tar.md5" (found it on the forums) and flashed the "WiFi fix", no luck. I've then came back to this thread and seen that Misterjunky told me to install a custom kernel and custom recovery mode. I've installed the kernel he suggested and i've installed Phillz recovery mode.
Now, what really bothers me and is SERIOUSLY getting on my nerves is THE WIFI IS STILL NOT WORKING AND I STILL CAN'T TURN IT ON!
I'm seriously bothered by this and i'm seriously going to trash it if i continue messing with it.
Someone please help me or i'll go insane.
try :download Samsung Kies3(for drivers) and Odin 1.85, port must indicate yellow box on odin when you connect your device in download mode, next try again wifi fix files on PHONE box and wait on pass green box,try even fiev times . On mine S4 work . Good luck
The problem might be cuz u are using the new bootloader (knox)... if u ar eusing that, follow the steps:
You need to install Triangle away (from google play, or just search it on google/xda) to wipe the BINARY counter. After this you will need to reflash the official samsung ROM via Odin and wipe data after installing.
Crossed fingers for you.
flashed everything tried everything wifi won't turn on
I flashed most stock firmwares out there then flashed the modem twice, then reflashed wifi fix twice. Wifi doesn't turn on. A few days ago I managed to fix it so I don't think it's hardware, or maybe now it is. Even tried custom roms and kernels. Anyone anywhere has any idea? Please

Hey Everyone! So long story short, I ended up picking up a 8.9 tab and now we have a 100% confirmed working ClockworkMod Recovery!
So, quick and dirty instructions for users WITHOUT any form of CWM recovery on their device:
1) Download the attached ClockworkMod_Recovery_v5.5.0.4.tar
2) Reboot the tab into download mode
3) Fire up Odin 1.85 and put the ClockworkMod_Recovery_v5.5.0.4.tar in the PDA field.
4) Flash!
5) Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery
Quick and dirty instructions for users WITH some form of CWM recovery on their device:
1) Download the attached ClockworkMod_Recovery_v5.5.0.4.zip to your device
2) Reboot the tab into recovery
3) Install the zip
5) Reboot
If, for any reason, you want to return to the stock recovery, simply download the P73xx_Stock_Recovery.tar and follow the instructions above (with odin)!
DISCLAIMER: THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH LTE TABS!
I kinda "bricked" my tab yesterday trying to create a recovery.
Now it just continually boots to the splash screen then restarts.
I can not get into recovery.
I can get into download.
I tried the ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.6 but odin just hangs after setup connection.
Trying to download the stock recovery:

Any ideas?
Thanks,

Thankfully Samsung devices are notoriously hard to brick
So is the tab still booting into the OS? Or are you ONLY able to get to download mode?
Also, what did you do to try and create a recovery and what did you flash? If I can understand what has been done I can help you get up and running again
As for Odin hanging at "Setup Connection" when you tried to flash my recovery, it is likely just coincidence more than anything. Odin isn't the most dependable application...well, it is and it isn't...but getting stuck at Setup Connection is a common issue.
First tell me what you did yesterday so we can figure out how to proceed. Then we'll go from there!
I kinda want to volunteer as I am familiar with ODIN coming from a Vibrant but what's stopping me is 3 questions with all due respect. What's the related thread you were talking about at the OP? Are you sure that is the right 8.9 Stock Recovery? How did you find it as there is (at least) no American ODIN image as of today (checked Samfirmware as of this post)?

Excellent -
This is the thread I was talking about in 10.1 section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307242
The recovery is standard, regardless of region. In fact, with the exception of precompiled binary modules, the recovery is even identical to that of the 10.1 tab
What I have done here is repacked the recovery image with a vanilla build of clockworkmod. This should work on both the P7300 and the P7310.
Give it a shot and let me know how it goes!
Neither got flashed via ODIN, but I too tried to install CWM yesterday via the market app so my recovery is messed up to start with.
After trying to flash the two the tab wouldn't boot and I got an error about a failed update.
Flashed the bootloader file below with ODIN to get it to boot.
Code:
ID:0/010> Added!!
<ID:0/010> Odin v.3 engine (ID:10)..
<ID:0/010> File analysis..
<ID:0/010> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/010> Initialzation..
<ID:0/010> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/010> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/010> recovery.img
<ID:0/010> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/010>
<ID:0/010> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
Hmm ok...
So yesterday you tried the market CWM, which caused the tab not to boot at all? Then, you had to flash the bootloader to make it boot again?
I'm assuming you had a booting tab prior to trying to flash these files, but still had the borked recovery yes?
That is correct, but the recovery was fine when i got the device, I used it to root.
I know I should do a full flash but I don't want to lose all my stuff.
Also flahing the bootloader somehow removed the cwm ?script? That was forcing the tab to try and boot into the borked recovery on each boot.
Damn that app does a number on the poor tab...unfortunately the best course of action is really to completely restock the thing - flash an entire rom through Odin with a repartition.
Since you are able to boot, you can back up all your data with Titanium backup, then move the data off your internal storage and onto your computer in case it gets wiped by the Odin flash.
Now i really wish I had an 8.9 because I'm curious if someone who hasn't got the messed up recovery tries to flash my file if it will go through or fail like yours and the Geologist.
Any takers?

That'd be me. Once I backup my apps, I will (give me some minutes and I will post the result as an EDIT post). If it fails, worst case scenario would be flashing the Asian ODIN image since it is the only one available. That one displays everything in Chinese but I can change the language. Sidenote: Damn I wonder what is taking so long to bring an American ODIN image of the 7310 live???

EDIT: Oh well...it's been a while since I last saw a "device-!-PC" screen.
EDIT 2: The "device-!-PC" screen vanished after one or two restarts as if nothing ever happened.
That's really weird, because I can even flash the p73xx stock recovery on my 10.1 tab and it at least goes through...it won't boot into recovery, as expected, but it at least FLASHES...
Maybe next question - are you guys using Odin 1.85? Also, are you using the driver from Kies or did you install a standalone driver? Try installing this driver:
http://www.multiupload.com/ISBTL9TADO
And then flashing after. It also may be worthwhile to switch USB ports after installing the new driver. Don't mind the p7510 in the file name, it works with multiple devices.

Yes, ODIN 1.85. Will install that driver and see how it goes.
EDIT: Same result as pointed earlier, even after installing the quoted driver and changing USB ports.
EDIT 2: Wait a second. I think I might have figured it out. This does not work on an encrypted system, right? I think I'll unencrypt and then try doing this.
EDIT 3: Nope, unencrypted or not, it does not flash. Same result.

See my last post; I CAN exit DM, but when i boot the tablet the only thing that will accually boot is Download Mode. When i try and boot normally, or load recovery (power and Volume +) They Dont work like they dont even start to boot.
AND Nothing Has been flashed lately but i just found out that the owner of the Tab4 may have been in recovery mode and was trying to format or partition his ExtSD card and might have formatted or partitioned ALL the internal storage.
Well if so, then hope that someone will share with you the pit file

Hmmmmm. Have you tried Samsung kies? I always have Odin problems on windows 8 but never on windows 7.
KIES doesn't even detect the device
Here's a guide I found by searching to obtain pit. Someone needs to pull this from their device
1. Root+busybox+USB Debugging
2. Connect the tablet to a PC
3. Run program EFS Professional.exe
4. Go to tab Backup -> Device Filters -> select All Partitions
5. Go to a program EFS Professional directory and to look here for the new PIT-file SM-T705.pit
Ignore the T705 part. Hopefully this helps
now all i need is someone to come along and post a .pit file. ive looked everywhere online and came up with absolutly nothing.....
Need pit file also...
Found PIT file, but of course can't link it.... Someone can message me for link if they need it.

Background
AS of March 27, 2015, the most recent firmware for Note Pro 12.2 international version is the Russian P905XXUAOB1 (with CSC905SERAOB1 and Modem905XXUANA7), Since it doesn't seem that any country is in a hurry to push a lollipop update into this device, I made these files to update the tablet to the latest available firmware. The procedure is designed to achieve two thing: 1- by leaving the bootloader untouched, it is reversible to your current version, if you have the firmware corresponding to your current version at your disposal, 2- it gives you root.
This procedure should not in theory wipe your data but DO MAKE A BACKUP, in case.
And no, it doesn't trip the knox.
Upgrade Procedure
All files that you need are available at the link further down. The are zipped but you should unzip them before using them.
1- Backup everything you have on your tablet
2- Reboot the tablet to the "Download Mode" (by pressing down vol + home key when the device is rebooting, right before you see the first splash logo, then push Up Vol to continue).
3- Run PC Odin v3.09 and load these files (remember to unzip the files after downloading) :
BL: leave empty
AP: AP.tar.md5
CP: CP.tar.md5
CSC: CSC.tar.md5
Leave everything else unchanged and Start.
4- Let the tablet reboot. It will first go to recovery to complete the upgrade and then reboots and initializes your apps.
Note 1: This process should not erase your data but I suggest you do a factory reset yourself (provided you have saved you data somewhere)
Note 2: After the upgrade is complete, the tablet may run slow and get hot for about 20 min because all the apps are trying to get set up and catalog your system. However, if after 30 minutes is is still slow and hot, first try to wipe the data for Google Plus App. If that doesn't work you may want to disable Google Plus, or as a last resort do a factory reset.
Note 3: If you end up doing a factory reset, the tablet will start up in Russian. You can change the language to English at the very first step of the initial set up. After that, go to settings and change the keyboard and input language to English. Then everything will be OK.
Note 4: If you try this out and don't like it, download your old firmware (must match or be newer than what you had before) and flash your tablet back to how it was (you have to do a factory reset after the downgrading).
Root Procedure
If you need to root the tablet, do the following after you finish the upgrade procedure:
1- Install towelroot v3 on your tablet, but don't run it. The app is inside a zip file at the download site and you should unzip it with the password 12345
This is done because some systems flag this app as a virus when it clearly is not. There are two versions there in the zip file. Either one should work just fine.
2- Install SuperSU, but don't run it.
3- Reboot to download mode.
4- Run PC Odin and load ANC3_Kernel.tar.md5 in AP field and start.
5- Let the system reboot. You may get some force closings after the reboot but ignore them.
6- Run the towelroot app and make it rain!
7- Reboot to download mode.
8- Run PC Odin and load AOB1_Kernel.tar.md5 in AP field and start.
9- Let the system reboot.
10- Run the SuperSU app and let it update the binaries the "normal" way.
11- Allow it to disable knox for you.
12- If SuperSU freezes up for more than 5 minutes reboot your tablet and run it again. Everything will be fine.
13- Your tablet is rooted now.

Yes. Make sure a matching nh3 firmware is available from sammobile.com if you think you may want to go back to your existing rom at some point.
successfully updated & rooted a p905 with your instructions,
thanks for your help.
Any idea if I can flash this rom into a P905M? Thanks in advance

No, because 905M has different cellular and LTE bands and the modem is different. If you still feel adventurous and want to try it, exclude the CP tar file when you are flashing. Make sure you have your current firmware available to restore in case you soft-brick your tablet.

Thanks a lot for your reply.
I really wish to change, I mean, since Samsung stuck us on 4.2.2 so far.. I just wish, at least to get a minimal improvement.
If I get to merge things to have a P905 rom working on my P905M it would be an achievement in direction to break the P905M rom prison.
It worked!
Now I have the latest firmware into my P905M.
Thanks!

** THIS WORKED ON MY DEVICE BUT IT MAY NOT WORK ON YOURS. APPLY AT YOUR OWN RISK **

Thank you so much! I've been worried about rooting without tripping knox and this worked perfectly.
One question... If I didn't want to upgrade, could I have just flashed the two firm ware to root?
One of the clearest rooting guides I've used.
Thanks,

No because the second firmware in step 8 should match the existing kernel on your device.

Please help.
After, and if, aboot and boot are flashed, the rest should get flashed with no issues.
99% of the time this kind failure is either due to a bad USB cable or unnecessary physical movement of the device (which affects the connection) during the flashing process.
So my suggestion is:
1- Make sure you have the latest Samsung drivers installed.
2- Find the best quality cable you have and use that.
3- If the problem persists download another firmware (maybe from another region) and try flashing that.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I wouldn't normally post unless I really need help and I do, I've been at this for days, I'm stressing out because I really need my phone for work and I can't fix it myself...
My phone is stuck in a loop where every time I turn it off/on it goes straight into download mode.
It's doing this because I foolishly (without knowing what I was doing) used a .pit file I downloaded off of the internet.
I installed Clockworkmod 11 on my i9507 with the jfltexx i9505 rom.
It worked flawlessly except the 3G would drop out every time I locked the screen. Only 2G would work.
To try and fix it I downloaded a I9505DVUAMD8_MODEM.tar because I'm on Australia's 3G Telstra network through ALDI (medion) mobile.
The problem I had was that when I tried to flash the new modem, Odin would say that it failed.
So without knowing what I was doing, I used CSB_signed_Fusion3_TDD_0906_V2.pit
Now my phone is stuck in a loop where it goes straight into download mode.
Can someone please tell me how to fix this, I'm stressing out because all of my work is on this phone.
Please help, I'd really appreciate it.
Just flash a stock rom for the I9507 and you will be fine.

This is a really noob question but would you be able to save me a heap of time and link me to one please? My head is going to explode soon...
Edit:
I found this, which has the stock optus rom but it's an extremely slow (10 hour) 1.7gb download. I don't think this is right...

Put it in AP/PDA (depends on the Odin version). Uncheck auto-reboot and flash it in download mode.

Open Odin ,connect your phone to pc via usb ,developers options enabled in ...settings ...about phone ..tap 6 or 7 times on build and enable usb ...foutopsporing in Dutch...also enable unknown sources .gO IN download mode ..search for how to do it. When phone is recognized in Odin
(If in the section ID COM is blue or yellow with a number it ,youre ready to go...
Tap on AP and it will ask for a file ...navigate on your pc to the location where you have stored the file,at first choose the Chainfire root file(,leave all the settings in Odin as the are) .it will appear in the AP section and hit Start ,wait until PASS appears in Odin...Disconnect phone from pc ,shut down Odin , Start the phone again in Download mode connect to pc and follow the same steps as with root,NOW UNCHECK automatic reboot in Odin, hit start and wait for Pass.
This should do the trick

For root you need .tar file so unzip the zip file only once and flash that .tar file . For TWRP use the zip file,it contents the recovery.img NO need to unzip!!!
Sorry if i put you on the wrong leg.
I kept getting the same fail message in Odin.
I've fixed it now. I used Samsung Kies > Tools > Firmware upgrade and installation. It's taken the phone back to the stock Australian Optus rom. Not the original optus rom with baseband XXUAMH2 but a newer one running 4.2.2 with baseband XXUFOA1. Unfortunately I've lost all data on it but thankfully the phone still works. I was stressing out of my mind.
Thanks to everyone for helping, I appreciate your input
Hi guys, I tried to factory reset my phone by flashing the latest firmware. These are the files that I used:
AP_G935TUVSBCTA2_CL14365146_QB28658134_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar.md5
BL_G935TUVSBCTA2_CL14365146_QB28658134_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5

HOME_CSC_TMB_G935TTMBBCTA2_CL14365146_QB28658134_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
I am a noob and I accidentally flashed the HOME_CSC file in the USERDATA section but every other file was in its place. Then after the successful flash, the phone restarted and entered a boot loop with the galaxy s7 and t-mobile logo. Also, I could't boot into recovery. It shows " recovery booting..." and stays there. After that, I tried to flash several different firmware versions but I always get errors like "fw ver check failed" and stops flashing. I only managed to reflash the first firmware again with success but the phone still doesn't boot. Does anyone know what is causing the problem? Am I using wrong firmware? can anyone help on this?

Oops! Very temperamental phone, the bootloader is locked.
You can only flash the same firmware that was on the device before you started but if not the latest G935T firmware should work.
p. s. Factory reset is an option in the settings menu, there's no need to flash new firmware.

If the phone is a T Mobile device you just need to install a T Mobile firmware from sammobile.
This is the latest for your device (and I'm assuming it is a G935 edge?)....

Sammobile is a little slow for non premium members

Fail (auth) means your phone is not in download mode or the firmware file is not in the correct box in Odin.
I think you may be better reading a step by step guide on how to flash firmware.
If you manage to flash and get stuck in a bootloop do the following.
1. No matter what the phone is doing just press volume down+home+power (in that sequence)
2. When the screen goes black quickly move your finger to volume up while still pressing home + power. This will boot you into recovery menu.
3. Choose "wipe cache partition" then "reboot system now"
4. Allow phone to go through the first boot up, it could take 10 minutes just leave it until you get the welcome screen.

When I press volume down+home+power it gets me to a screen says "warning: a custom o/s can cause critical problems bla bla bla..." and underneath it shows these options: 1) Volume up: continue 2) Volume Down: Cancel (restart phone) 3) Home Button: Show Barcode. If I proceed with the 1st option it goes to download mode where I flash with odin. I tried also the combination volume up+home+power with the phone witched off and it shows the message "recovery booting..." on screen with blue text but then it shows the android icon and says" installing system update, then restarts and falls into boot loop again with the samsung logo.

Yes that's fine, just keep trying to get it into recovery, it can take a few attempts for recovery to boot successfully.
The locked bootloader models are a nightmare unfortunately but there's lots of info on the forum about all the different issues and how to resolve.
Sometimes the only solution is to try flash the firmware which was there before you did anything to it eventhough there is a newer version.

I tried a lot of times already but it finally gets to a point that says "no command" with the android icon on top and if I press some times the volume up/down or home it finally gives some error messages and stuck there. It seems to me that the recovery menu is missing completely for some reason and the second problem is I don't remember which firmware version it had exactly before my attempt to flash another.
Anyone? Do I need a pit file to fix this problem?
