Ok, Latley i keep seeing more and more stuff that does not belong in the dev section and its making things not very organized. This makes the Moderators and Admins do stuff they shouldn't need to, but since most people doesn't realize this. Maybe once they read this they might know.
~Stuff that belongs in DEV Section~
1.) ROMS
2.) Decussion of Root
3.) ROOTING APPS
4.) Mostly Deveoplement for things that contains rooted needs for our device.
~Stuff that doesnt belong~
1.) All APPS. Meaning APPS that run on the phone such as a .apk (POST HERE FOR THAT!
2.) General Issues ( POST HERE FOR THAT!
3.) Duplicate Post. Please search the forums before you post.
4.) porablly more just i dont have the time to type everything out this morning.
*MODERATORS + ADMINS PLEASE STICKY THIS IF YOU WANT*
Please don't Flame me. I'm just trying to help keep this place organized.
What belongs in development section: development stuff
What belongs in general: General stuff
What belongs in themes and apps: Stuff related to themes and apps
What belongs in accessories: Accessory stuff
I just don't get how this is confusing.
New q&a section: Threads moved
Today (Aug. 8th) a new Sub-Forum was added for the Eris, as a result I moved many threads, if you find yours is missing from its spot look there first before PM'ing me.
Thanks,
Captainkrtek

Development Overview
The development forum is somewhere to discuss and share ideas, post useful feedback, and to contribute to the common goals developers are trying to achieve.
If you are new to our community then I welcome you and encourage you to read much more than you post and spend lots of time learning from wealth of knowledge that is available to you. If you want to truly understand your device and how to modify it then you are in the right place. If you have no interest in learning and contributing to development then I ask that you respect our community and our goals when posting.
What threads should be posted in the development section?
It is really very simple!
Before you post a thread in the development section, ask yourself what are you developing.
If you can’t answer, then you probably need to post your thread in the TouchPad General or the TouchPad Q&A section!
It is NOT the place to post a question because it gets higher traffic.
Do you have a question or need help?
If you haven't read for several days before starting out on XDA, you are likely about to ask something already discussed and solved. USE SEARCH FIRST!
If you have a problem with your device, it's up to you to determine if it is specific to a particular ROM, and post useful information in that developer's existing thread. Please read every sticky and search for guides and notices. If it happens on more than one ROM, and isn't a known issue, then find out what you are doing wrong. Check guides written by others, try to repeat the problem and see if it happens every time. Something needs to be reproducible to be fixed effectively.
Once you have identified what you need help with go to the TouchPad Q&A section and make a clear, informative thread that explains the issue, and what you have tried doing to fix it. Did you re-download the ROM? Did you ask a friend to flash it for you, to reduce chance of user error? What steps (exactly) did you follow? What errors did you see (exact wording)? Did you double check all the steps? Did you do a wipe or hard reset?
If you make a clear, concise, yet detailed post, you will find help forthcoming, and should get the problem sorted very quickly. If someone suggests you try something, report back on what happened, did it work etc. Then, next time someone has this issue and searches, they will find this and have a verified and tested solution.
*Portions of this post were kanged without permission from Senior Moderator/Recognized Developer pulser_g2http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=2178960
☞[WARNING: READ ME 1st] If YOU DID NOT CREATE "it" THEN IT DOESN'T BELONG IN HERE
NOTICE: If You did not create the ROM, KERNEL, FIX, MOD, APP, HACK, GUIDE, or if it's not a SOURCE CODE then it should go to Galaxy S Advance General section as it doesn't belong in Development.
If your thread can be phrased as a question, it DEFINITELY doesn't belong in Development either, post it in the Q & A thread in the General section. If you post it in Development it will be moved/closed and you may get an infraction or a ban.
There is only 1 exception, stock ROMs are allowed, as long as the link does not require a registration to download the ROM.
You may start planning a [DEV] topic in the General or Q & A section and then have it moved to the Android Development section once the actual Development has started.
☞ Development is classified as original work and/or documented edits and changes made to others work (with their permission) that makes it your own.
Stock ROM dumps that are modified (deodexed, etc.) from the manufacturer's original intent and then repackaged together classifies as development.
Kernel's and Recovery obviously classify as development as they are modified and compiled from source
☞ Themes are graphical/visual changes made to a ROM which make's the ROM visually different from the original work, i.e. different battery icons, a blue-color scheme, etc. They may be packaged up together with a full ROM and deployed the same way. Simply running a script (not made by you) to deodex and then packaging other people's work/MOD's into one place does not constitute original development.
Follow the FORUM RULES and the XDA MANTRA and we'll all get along and enjoy this community!
Thank you for your cooperation & thanks to jerdog for writing this wonderful explanation.
Regards
'cooleagle'

Q&A for [06-24] AOSP 4.2.2 [rom]
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [06-24] AOSP 4.2.2 [rom]. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

How about something new?
I am pleased to present, three years after the device's release...
AOSP 4.2.2 r1.2 for Nook Color
For this first release, I wanted to keep this as close to straight AOSP as I could. The device and kernel tree are identical to the the one in the CM10.1 release. There is a three year history of maintainance and improvement from the NookieDevs. Without that group of gentlemen, we would all be using ManualNooter, so be thankful. This project, and AOSPA as well, are not possible without them.
This is a straight a port to AOSP as a device with our boot parameters could hope for. Let me know what you think. The deviations from stock AOSP are minimal and almost wholly hardware related...a list is on a following post.

}
Note: these are random Google image results, not screenshots. I have not enabled native screenshots yet, and have no intention of buying an app to do it now. It's AOSP, you guys are familiar.
The only thing I added to this build that wasn't necessary or direct from AOSP was that I embedded Superuser, because ROOT! (and things just work more smoothly if it ships with the SU stuff handled.)
I think the performance is actually really nice, let me know.
Bug List
Nothing jumps out at me. Let me know. (Please check if you are reporting a bug with this build, or one from AOSP upstream. Google helps.)
Downloads
Rom is here.
Gapps are here.
I may decide to enable update notifications from Goo Manager...I haven't decided. I don't expect to update this as often as PA, not until 4.3 drops anyhow. But an update or two is for sure coming.
The Future
We can add some common-sense extras to this rom...but I do not want to spend a bunch of time and effort skirting the line between this and CyanogenMod. We already have CyanogenMod...it's awesome. Having said that, I am willing to add some basic extras. Post your thoughts about this issue in the thread...the more we add, the further from AOSP we go. Options include:
Performance Settings
MTP/PTP
Screenshots
Power menu (reboot etc.)
Requests may be considered (no promises...my plate is already pretty full. But contributions from the community are treasured...see the next post for source code info)
Thanks
NookieDevs (fat_tire, nemith, eyeballer and steven676 especially)
TeamWin for the vast amount of free hosting they provide me (and so many others)
inportb, koush
Leapinlar and RedneckReg for the replacement device.

Who's back? We're back.
CarbonROM is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub... and at CarbonROM Gerrit.
Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.
Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.
