I downloaded MIUI V5 3.12.20 yesterday and I tried it on my nexus 4 using multirom. But WLAN doesnt seem to work on it.Also I tried to search similar problem faced by any one but I can hardly find users with the same.It shows switching WLAN on but it stays on that state forever.Kindly help.I am using franco kernel r198.
You need to be on radio .48. Also I ran miui for a few days but I use Google voice and since miui is still 4.2.2 It still has the WiFi notification delay bug. I get bushwhacked with texts when I leave my home.

I had the same problem. Downgrading radio to .48 or .33 worked for, it showed me available WiFi, but unfortunately only some networks and not all of them. It didn't show me my own wifi, but all my neighbors, which was weird.

So i recently bought a used hd2 that was already flashed to the NexusHD gingerbread 2.3 android, everything works great on the phone, the problem is that WIFI is not working at all. it shows scanning and it doesn't display any results, i tried searching for my home network and also the wifi at starbucks and it doesn't show up with any results. when i tried manually entering a network, the wifi just continues to scan but still no results. i don't have a data plan and so far i tried flashing it to different android builds and also back to winmo 6.5 and still has the same problem. i am a noob and so far without wifi i cant sync my contacts or access market =/ please help, thanks
You've flashed other ROM's and you still have the same problem? Thats really weird. Maybe that's the reason they sold it?

I would like to know if anyone else is having this problem,
to me it is something related to 2.3.4 and maybe I9020XXKD1 radio, i had this problem with the stock 2.3.4 rom as well.
Since I9020XXKD1 baseband update (2.3.4),
i started having a problem of VERY SLOW connection to Google Sync accounts (grey->green bars) when switching from cellular data (2G or 3G) to WiFi (router at home or at office). When i activate WiFi, the 3G indicator will disappear, signal bars goes GREY and then it takes up to 40seconds to reestabilish connections to Google (green bars). During this time phone has no connectivity (you cannot use facebook, twitter, browser etc...). This is clearly a problem switching between cellular data and Wifi, infact putting the Nexus S in Airplane mode and activating/deactivating WiFi, the reconnection is immediate (switch between GREY/GREEN bars takes 2-3 seconds). Any others having the same problem? It did not happen to me with old 2.3.3 i9020xxkb1 baseband.
If i go back to 2.3.3 rom (either stock or Cyanogenmod 7.0.3) and baseband i9020xxkb1 PROBLEM IS SOLVED
If you have the same issue please star or add comments to

I am also experiencing this issue with 2.3.4 and I9020XXKD1. When I wake up the phone (after being idle in my pocket for a while) and it automatically switches from 3G to wifi, the wifi icon remains grey for an inordinate if not indefinite amount of time and data connection is interrupted (even after phone has acquired an IP). I have to toggle Wifi on and off from the to get it to connect.
From Google's release notes:
- Wi-fi & 3G icons both indicate active: for anyone who saw this strange behavior in your phone’s status bar, it should now be fixed. (Nexus S)
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=62b9e23a049f4ef0
Could it be that in resolving that issue they introduced the bug we are now experiencing?
Possibly an issue with DNS queries?
Might be from the change to the https sync protocol to keep our data secure

I would have expected more users claiming on this,
i still find this behaviour very irritating... i wonder if we are making something wrong and others are not getting any trouble.
Could someone who has stock 2.3.4 or AOSP / Cyanogenmod Nighly roms confirm they are not getting any problem with WiFi when switching from cellular data or exiting standby (reconnection to WiFi)?
I am still experiencing wait to up to 1 minute to get a green WiFi indicator.

May have been explored already, but have you guys set wifi to always stay connected in the advanced settings?
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
It should work, but is only a temp bypass to the problem : in 233 when i turn on the screen wifi reconnection is immediate, instead with 234 is taking so much...

This might be simple and you may have already done it, but try changing your WiFi channel at the router.
I was getting ****ty speed on both my Evo running CM7 (nightly 80 which is 2.3.4) and my NS4G running rooted stock GRJ22. I made my router choose channel 2 (rather than auto-selecting a channel which always seemed like channel 11).
That led to an IMMEDIATE increase in speed - over 100% better - from avg 5Mbit dls to 11Mbit on both devices.

The same problem happens at home and at work but only with the 234 upd. Now i'm back to 233 and i'm ok, so the problem is surely related to 234 upd nothing else, at least for me...
And i'm not claiming about speed, but high delays in getting wifi connectivity (from grey to green) , either activating it manually or exiting from screen-off

Bumping this up because I'm having the same issue since 2.3.4...
please star
Yep, was an issue in 2.3.2, fixed in 2.3.3 and the problem has resurfaced in 2.3.4.
It seems like it's one step forward and two steps back with Android at the moment.

(1 meter from AP) And disconnect every few minutes from AP. (I know this because playing some game online and bother me so much).
Other phone is fine ((( Work like charm. Full signal and wifi work just fine.

Yep problem does not occur on cm7 and Miui. I have told Google already but they are most likely thinking on ICE creams

Hi i was just wondering if anyone else has the problem with their defy where the wifi drops out all the time the connection stays on but it stops working and i have to toggle the wifi off and on to get it working. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks
sorry,这个真不知道
I've got the same issue on cm7, to reproduce just try to download a torrent, your wifi will stop working almost instantly...

me too, the same issue on CM7.2 120102, but i've notice when you set the cpu settings on bootloader to default the wifi works fine

Motorola Defy CM72111116, german Froyo base
These are all faulty hardware, try any rom or baseband you like, restore your original rom and return to supplier.
There seem to be quite a lot of them too

No this is a CM7 problem too, has something to do with wpa supplicant
Sent from my 1Ghz CM7 + CM9 Defy
I bet if you used a stock rom for more than a few hours, you'd notice the same drop off.
If it was a cm7 issue with supplicant, other handsets would also suffer, it's all built from the same source.
Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk
Mine does it with cm7 and miui some builds are better than others. The latest miuiandroid rom seems the best i've tried so far it only drops out a couple of times a day. With other roms almost every time i use wifi for a few minutes

But it's still dropping, personally I would send it back. Moto issued flaky batches, they deserve a high return ratio.
The same issues affect their other phones too, check the atrix thread.

I would if it didn't mean sending it from aus to the usa and going back to a w810i Sony Ericsson dumb phone for at least a month or two.

No faulty hardware. It seems that if you use Gingerbread with the older (Froyo) kernel, sooner or later you'll run into this problem. Under stock Froyo I can easily download, say, more gigabytes without a glitch. I'v tried several GB ROMs (CM7, MIUI, Moto with GreenBreadMod) and all the time wifi sucked, no matter what settings I used.
Try Froyo or if you have red lense, try a Defy+ ROM (except those with the well-known WPA2-bug) and you won't get any problem.
I think it's a problem with the CPU setting of the CyanogenMod and other ROMs, because when I go to bootmenu and use default settings without saving obviously (800mhz defy default), after some days testing, the wifi works fine, for example, I could fully download 2 game data (200mb and 500mb) without getting a dropout, I think I've solved so far, in terms of speed is not greatly affected the navigation of the phone.
Just today, this evening I got my new Defy and later discovered this problem (I am on stock Eclair ROM), what I did was that I added my Defy's MAC address into my DHCP Reservations List which was found in my modem's settings page and it looks like the problem is fixed for now, I'll keep you guys updated if I overcome any problem. By the way I am using WEP encryption method which only supports b/g mode, plus I checked Enable auto IP option in Settings / Wireless Settings / Wifi / Advanced.
Hello,
I have the same issue (no matter of rom, stock 2.1,2.2 or CM7) and setting my router to BG and WPA2/TKIP solves problem. I think It's buggy hw from motorola and AES support. When I switch to AES or TKIP+AES wifi hangs after downloading about 20MB, sometimes just few MB.
I have wifi issue on my latest 7.2 nightly build, too.
So, it looks like, phone wants to connect to saved connections (wifi status is connecting), but there should be status "searching", and stays on status Disconnected. Pushing Search button, do nothing.
When I delete few saved connections, wifi could do "search", and after that, i can connect!.
I think, there is critical numer of saved connections, when it is riched, then wifi can't do search, and connect to any host.
did you try deleting wpa_supplicant?
No,
I've only disabled support for n-mode in tiwlan.ini. Will see if this helps.
Do you mean, delete /etc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf?
You think it'll help?
Hello all,
I'm running pac rom and loving everything about it except for a couple of things.
For some reason whenever I try to use maps or any other app that uses gps it can never find gps. It just keeps saying searching for gps.
I made the mistake of flashing the 4.2 modem package thinking that might help but then of course I couldn't connect to wifi. So I flashed the 4.1 modem package which made wifi work again but still no luck with gps. And even though wifi works it seems unstable now. I randomly lose wifi signal when browsing sites or forums.
Any ideas?

Helllo,
I could not find any revelant thread for this and so i waited for the Marshmallow update and not yet to come so i thought i could use some professional help to fix this irritating issue.
I have HTC One m9+ and so far everything is going well with the phone, except one single thing and driving me crazy which is the internet issue.
I have two major issues:
1- When phone is on WIFI at home and i did not use for some time, the phone seems to be disconnected from the internet .. and i have tried all possible tweaks and settings for power saving and sleeping but nothing worked so far, the only thing that is possible for me is to keep on data 4G all the time, which comes the other problem
2- When on Data (3g or 4G) the phone sometimes loses connectivity completely, i just have to wait and wait until i get 4G connection again.. although signal is ok and i still receive calls but just data stops.. i tried matching settings like my galaxy note 3 and checking different APN from ISP but still same.
However, the first problem is more important, but if you can help me with both it will be great
Hello, update that the problem is actually in Whatsapp application and not the rest of the phone, on WIFI whatsapp does not receive any messages unless i open it after unlock (works fine on data)
I tried PNF and change heart beat but still the same. background data is enabled for whatsapp, notification all good, reinstalled application.. still the same
Do you have some ports blocked at your Wifi? WhatsApp and other messenger like Viber are using some ports which may be blocked at Univercity Wifi or other Wifi's...

Yes, I get exactly the same. Seems that switching on Bluetooth causing significant issues with Wi-Fi. Should have been fixed by HTC ages ago.
I am on the latest EU firmware 1.90.401.3 - I don't think it used to be an issue.
