I was playing Asphalt 8 and uploading over 300 photos to google drive over WiFi and I have to say that I'm amazed by both battery life and multitasking capabilities this phone have. It got really warm and I though that battery has run dry, but...

It is pretty good, it get about 12 hours of heavy use. That's with wifi, but, nfc on all the time :good:
Have anyone had this problem: sometimes battery go down 2-3% per time, not one by one %. and if I set the brightness 65% auto, I have around 5h on-screen when battery 10%, is that ok? that decrease problem is normal or not? please help me.

A bit hard to interpret what exactly you're trying to say, but when you have the brightness set on auto, it will tend to drain battery life more quickly as the device will keep trying to see if it should lower the brightness or not.

Sorry for my broken english. I mean when phone's idle, it go down 2 or even 3%, not 1 by 1% as usual. So have anyone had the same thing?
it's actually pretty awesome, I was a bit worried when i was deciding which phone to get and almost bought a LG G2/GFlex instead because of it.

OMFG! I am amazed like hell by this phone battery life! I've been using it like crazy, Facebook, games, LTE and still. I got drunk and it has saved me and my friends by having the battery still going so I could check how do we get back home. Guys, honestly. My old phone that is xperia play would run out of battery in no time - but this one has saved me. Also kudos to the SwiftKey that is helping me at the moment to type.

As the post i just have written, it has an awesome battery life. Those are my current brightness settings :

mine is always at Maximum (100%) Auto-Brightness and always get 5+ hrs screen On TFT screens is more effecient that LCD i guess. My previous HTC One lasted 3hrs at Medium Brightness Considering same usage and its battery is 2300mA so i dont guess 700mA do this over 50% screen Usage.
its the Sony TFT i guess
TFT is just another variant of the LCD screen, so its the IPS. Not sure about the AMOLED but I also think that it's an LCD display. I don't think we will go father than LCD soon, another technology is plasma which isn't LCD but it's no good for mobile display because of its power consumption. Can't think about anything else than LCD and plasma atm. Battery capacity varies between devices because various phone components draw a different amount of current. 5" screen will surely draw more power than 3" display. Same thing goes with CPU, GPU, etc. Another thing is that more powerful phones have to get more powerful batteries so it won't run dry in under 1 hour of load (can't tell the exact number because I'm not a hardware designer, lol). Our device is beast so it also got a huge battery. It doesn't drain that much power on a medium load and battery management is excellent so that would be why it lasts so long.
Keep in mind that what I just said it's just my opinion based on my current knowledge, but I truly believe that I am right as I can't see any flaws in this way of thinking.

yup u r right... the HTC One got a 2300mA battery and i always put it in Power saver mode ... its battery lasts to only 3 hours screen on ! regardless the smaller screen 4.7" the weaker processor (SnapDragon 600 clocked @1.7ghz) slower gpu (320) ... in Comparison to the Z1 3000mA its a massive difference ! 700mA i dont guess so unless Sony did some Magic in this Battery ! (kinda reminds me of my older NoteII battery effeciency)
Yeah I think that they did a great job with the battery mangement. I didn't know that HTC one actually has that bad battery... I'm glad that I actually went for the Z1 because I've also have considered getting HTC but the camera simply pushed me away, so did the worse specs. This night I did some photos when it was completely dark and only the city lights were on, it looked like I'd take them at the sunset! Video recording didn't go as good as the night photos, but still WOW. This phone is surely going to make me a photographer because it is a pleasure to make photos with it

Hi all,
After a few days of using the Z5c, I must say I'm disappointed in the battery. It's coming not even close to factory brag specs (that's no surprise though). What does surprise me a bit, is that it upholds for barely ONE day. Back-to-back comparison with my old Z3c, all things (apps/usage characteristics) being equal except for stock ROM in Z5c and aosp ROM in Z3c, shows that the Z3c performs at least half a day longer!
Any other experiences with this?
This is interesting, if a little concerning. I'd be keen to hear feedback from others.
I had a Z1c, then switched to a Samsung Galaxy Alpha which has horrendous battery life, even more so with Lollipop (I flashed back to KK), I'd be happy with something in the middle probably. I believe the Z3c was quite a jump over the Z1c so hard for me to judge from what you are saying.
I guess we can expect battery to be worse on the SD810 vs the old SD800/801, despite the token battery bump. Maybe a future Android M update will go some way to helping, though that is probably some months off unfortunately.
Can you please share a screen grab of the battery screen on your device, showing screen time, apps usage etc.
Thanks.
edit: I have a Z5c on pre-order already, I'll add my thoughts when it arrives.
I would say my battery also lasted for about I day. Last time I charged it was yesterday and now I am out of batteries. I hit 15% a couple of hours ago. I will report back in a few days after some more charging and using.
EDIT: I should say I had A LOT of application running in the background, more then I would normally have. I usually kill apps I do not use, not just leave them in the background to preserve battery.

Yes, me too. I've now run into different trouble (not connecting to PC Companion, ANT HAL service corrupted, and more...) so no good example as "ordinary daily use".
With my first charge I got almost 2 days - configuring phone, installing apps and my daily usage. To compare, with my daily usage on my Nexus 5 I got through day with few percent to spare.
When using normally there is no problem with power consumption but graphics heavy games or camera app can make the phone really hot and battery drop fast.
So far getting 68% after full day of use, some phone calls, Spotify via Bt, few calls, updates, 3 push email accounts, etc. It's very similar to my old z3c. I expect 2-2,5days of battery life

I've been using phone for 5 days now. It has to be charged every day. STAMINA mode is on.
Daily usage:
- few calls
- some sms/hangout messages
- reading news/fb
- endomondo + gps - 1 hour running
Result:
43% screen,
12% Android OS (maybe a GPS?),
10% gReader,
6% Endomondo,
6% Cell standby,
4% Phone idle.
Current status:
Now on battery: 19h;
35% battery left - approx 12 hours left (according to battery info)
I'm a little bit disappointed with battery life so far.
perhaps you should check which app drains battery most. from my experience fb messenger is battery eater. disable Wi-Fi scanning, check if any of games you downloaded is set to send you notifications. phone is really good and I don't think your particular phone is worse - you just need to configure it!

I don't think you should do it at all, just google for some android tweak hints, disable any bloatware you don't want, disable notificatitons for apps you don't use or don't wish to send you notifications.
if you have to, install clean master and set saving battery option so it will kill any background tasks when screen off

Sure. I've looked at FB/Messanger but it only ate about 2%. I know all the battery hint, thanks.
Stamina mode turns WiFi off on screen off.
Anyway, the battery tricks are for other topic. Maybe I'm just playing with the phone to much, since it is new
Screen on times?
I regularly got 7-8 hours of SOT with my Moto X Play which I returned after two weeks for refund in favour of the Z5 Compact (mainly due to the size difference). Obviously I'm not expecting quite that level of battery prowess, but I'd like to see at least double what my Nexus 5 currently offers (it wouldn't be that hard to achieve with an average of 2.5 hours SOT).
In any case, I get mine delivered today so I'll be able to chip in on the battery front soon.

So after locking phone the battery info shall show the WiFi off when the screen is off right? Or is it made off in other way that it is not seen by battery info? See on the bottom of the screen.
Anyway the indicators show that SCREEN = off but WIFI = on

Search the forums for the Z3 series and Z1 for many posts that explain how Stamina works. It doesn't stop Wi-Fi. It doesn't allow apps to connect to Internet.

I come from a Z3 Compact and are very disappointed with the battery life. 2 days ? but if barely arrival until 15 pm using it as before and with the same apps. I do not understand how a phone so publicized and expensive might have a bad time. I know very well the Z3 Compacct and arrived safely in the evening but this new Z5 is really a bad purchase !!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope that the problem is the firmware...seem no go to deep sleep or new snapdragon wrok very bed.

I had very ****ty battery life for like 4 days, but since yesterday it's performing better, right now I'm at 60% with 2:30 SOT and it's been 22 hours off the charger. Hopefully it stays this way. I still believe the z3c has better battery life though.

Wow! That's impressive.
Did you update via the OTA or fresh install?
Well, I think it also depends on how long you've been running this version for. I've noticed it takes days for the device (and apps) to adjust to your usage pattern and eventually there will be 1 or more apps using more batt than the rest. This is when your batt life overall might reduced.
But still.. it's looks like a good start and perhaps you can revert back after a few days and see if this maintains

Well to be honest I can't believe for more than 7 h sot with normal use. Now with 3.5.4 and franco kernel with most day on wifi, few hours on mobile data and auto brightness I can barely hit 6h sot. So 5h with 47% left is not possible under "normal" conditions

it doesnt matter at all if u update/dirty flash it or clean install it.
no difference in that.
Phone on 9hrs, 1 1/2 hrs sot, not a heavy user, checking emails, forums, tinkering with OS.
Battery remaining 85% definitely better than I was getting with OOS 3.5.4
My battery is draining badly. I've been on the leaked 4.0 for a week now and flashed this stable version. Which seems to be the same and battery is still horrible. I only dirty flashed though. Going to test a clean flash

If you want your battery to last, you really shouldn't drain it completely. Put it on the charger when it's around 20% instead.

That's not bad for your use...BT and data on all time drain quite a lot of battery, not to mention Facebook app and Messenger are also notorious battery draining apps. Also I see a gaming app on the screenshot you posted that drains lots of juice. Location and GPS also drains quite a lot of battery over time especially coupled with Facebook. Instagram isn't battery friendly either...
I get 9/10 hrs SOT over two days with Wifi Always on and a really basic usage...WhatsApp, web browsing and Instagram...so nothing very demanding.
I suggest you to restrict some apps in background (like Instagram)
Social media. Battery AND brain killer.

I was in the same situation like your sir . Before to change my sim card. I can't confirm 100 procent but after I swap to Vodafone UK my battery has improved I got always 6 hours and half . Now I can enable volte I don't know if this improve some battery life but for sure now I get like in general 6.30 hours with WiFi or without WiFi with Bluetooth always on .
Before to switch I use to root my OnePlus 6t and change the themes to black amoled black wallpaper custom kernel and more to get 5 hours .
This is in my case I don't know if this applies to you . Can be your phone can be anything
Same issue with me
When I use location , 4G and dual SIM standby with moderate usage I get only 4-5 hours this includes 1- 1.5 hours of Google maps , PUBG 1 hour and casual browsing + YouTube should I ask for a replacement my unit is brand new only a week old and in 24 hours I get only 4-5 hours SOT

Facebook and Instagram suck your battery like a vampire sucks blood.
9.0.12
10 h was conected to smart watch at work facebook videos autoplay in my case no problem with batery
I have WiFi, 4G and Bluetooth (always paired with Amazfit) turned on all the time. I've noticed that when I'm not doing much (for example 2h SoT) and phone stays untouched battery drains almost the same when using phone a lot (5h SoT). It doesn't matter if I use my phone - always drains almost the same. If I'm all the day on the phone I could get 6-7h and of course my battery drains faster, but lasts for minimum 24h. Not using my phone - sometimes more than 24h but less than 30h on battery (with 1h SoT).
I don't know what's going on... From "draining apps" I'm using only Messenger. Adaptive battery is off, battery optimization turned off only for "messaging" apps like Telegram, Signal, Slack and Messenger.
GPS is turned off, sometimes only I'm turning hotspot on for 15-20 minutes.
I'm on 9.0.12.
Anyone got some tips?

Do you try a clean install? Are you using a custom kernel?

Do you bought it via OnePlus? If yes, try to contact the support and tell them your problem. If the phone is literally new, they tend to repair for free.
Stock kernel sucks dude. Use a custom.. I get 11 hrs sot.
I'm getting 3h of SOT lately (data/wifi on, no bluetooth). When I check the usage details it states Google play services using 75%.
Also got from a typical overnight drain from 2-3% to 5-6%.
Started behaving weird since the 9.0.12 if I recall correctly.
Stock, no root. Don't like it at all.

What custom kernel do you recommend?

Flash RenderZenith kernel and use some alternate apps for Facebook and messenger at least. I can recommend friendly app. There is also friendly for Instagram but without messenger.
You might wanna try out servicely app to restrict app background usage and wakelocks.
It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Sony Xperia 1 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Getting about 6hrs of screen on time with heavy full day of use.
4k And 6 hours screen awesone!

A Hui actually tested the Xperia 1 built-in battery capacity of 3330 mAh, the measured power part was tested by PCMARK, testing 80% ~ 20% of the power operation, analog Internet, work, games mixed application, the test result is 11 hours 23 In terms of 6.5 吋 up to 4K resolution panel, Xperia 1's power performance is actually better than expected.
Compared with the historical flagship machine test data of the past generations, it has indeed improved a lot!*Even better than the FullHD model!
Xperia 1 – 11 hours 23 minutes
Xperia XZ2 premium – 7 hours 41 minutes
Xperai XZ3 – 9 hours 13 minutes
Xperia 1 actual analog power consumption test
In addition, A Hui has recently joined the actual use of mobile phones to test the operation in various practical situations, which allows everyone to make the mobile phone's power consumption in various applications have a more practical reference. This part of the test screen brightness is the same as 200 Lux. The volume of the mobile phone is adjusted to the maximum volume of the mobile phone, and the remote 4G SIM card is installed as a fixed test condition, and the mobile phone is fully filled to 100% in advance to start the test. The test project flow and results are as follows:
Xperia 1 mobile phone standby 8 hours test, measured 3% power consumption, 97% remaining
Xperia 1 online video playback 1 hour test, measured 9% power consumption, 88% remaining battery
Xperia 1 shoots 3D mobile game test for 1 hour (PUBG Mobile), the measured consumption consumes 18% of electricity, and the remaining 70%
Xperia 1 camera continuous video test for 1 hour, measured consumption of 29% power, remaining 41% power
The Xperia 1 browser continuously reads and browses for 1 hour, actually consuming 10% of the power, and the remaining 31%

I can confirm it's really easy to push this phone to 7+hrs screen on time mark. Not sure what optimization Sony is using for battery this small but it's working flawlessly.

We have to wait for an objective comparison, where all the phones have the same brightness etc.
Also looking forward to the new mi9t pro or k20 pro.

The screen is in 1080p by default, not 4k all the time. Similar to previous XZP and Z5p.

Checked it myself. Did an adb and wm size. Showed a resolution of 1080 in 21:9 ratio.

Around 5-6 hours depending on usage, only got the phone on Monday, longest was just over 6.5 but battery was nearly dead by then.

Whoever is going to post SOT, do not forget to mention refresh rate used (90 or 60 Hz), screen resolution, "tweaks" and "measures" taken in settings etc. Also show full screenshots. Thanks.
Yesterday was my first full 24 hours with the device. Charged it fully ion the morning and went to bed with 26% battery and 5hr 15min of SOT. I was using 90Hz with resolution set to "auto". I don't tend to run my brightness very high, maybe around 40-45% except when outdoors in daylight. I did a fair mix of browsing, gaming, social media, and texting. I tend to keep my rarely-used apps restricted from battery and data usage. I use the dark theme and darker wallpaper. I did not take a screenshot last night, but will do so today after completing another full day of use.
This is my phone's sot with 90hz refresh rate , auto switch for resolution and dark theme enabled. I was mostly on wifi. Usage between moderate to heavy.
This is mine.. wanted to check out the actual SOT without 90hz and qHD .. so this is 60hz with 1080p.. but used 90hz for like 4-5 hours to show it off to some friends..
https://youtu.be/XhqDtIcIA6E
Difference between 90hz with auto switch and 60hz with fhd+
I've been getting great battery life. I have the auto switch with the resolution, and 90hz always.... Also had the oneplus 6t and this phone is def an upgrade
My battery life is pretty bad but I have been using camera quite a bit
I hope it improves
This was my first full day, 90hz the whole time,

These are excellent results .
Couldn't you guys just type SOT and attach the screenshot as a proof as well as the apps you used, not only a SS? then we wouldn't need to open every picture
Day one everything enabled, 90hz with auto switch resolution, about 6 hours of SOT. Not bad, not great.
I'm still on Day two, but I went down to FHD resolution on 90hz, greenified, and turned off stuff I'm currently not using like BT and GPS and I'm at 2:42 SOT with 75% battery. Pretty nutty. I won't be rolling this way all the time, but nice to know what's available. I can only imagine how much more we can squeeze out on 60hz. This phone is going to be great for vacation days.

Resolution: auto switch at 90hz
Youtube, gaming, social, internet browsing
Never got that much juice out of my OP6.
Here is my first full day with phone.
Unplugged when I woke up with 100%.
Res: auto
Refresh: 90
Had everything on like I normally would, gps, wifi, Bluetooth. Was on LTE almost all day. Only on wifi from 7pm until this screenshot around 11pm.
Not good, not great but was the first day. My 6t would end the day with more than 30%.
