Hello guys, just posting this in here for us to use. i have this up and running on knoxraid and it is amazing.
**this has fixed the wake lag for me, instant screen on and unlock**
Vulpix 3.0
this is a tweak made by @Nitzz (thank you brudda) , i am not the creator of it, but am simply linking this in our forum.
here is the link to the thread with download
1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2429923
just download it and flash it with SS. from what ive read all that is needed is init.d support and busybox which both roms available in out dev section have.
It seems like this mod is geared more towards lower-end phones. The OP in the link stated that there might be lag on high-end devices due to the RAM tweaks. Thoughts?

I flashed it with flash Gordon. Worked like a charm.

Not development...should be posted in general....
This doesn't work on our beast note 3....Its meant for older phones....
I tried this and "Don't see any Difference" at all ....Does add a lot of build props though....Does that count? Lol
I flashed it and see no difference.

Also remember to turn off "power saving mode" not by just clicking the off button....click to the left of the button on the description. .and you'll see another option hiding....also we don't have the ability to flash kernels yet, Because of the locked bootloader......I hope this helps. .There is a debloat list floating around here somewhere. ..I dont want to tell you what apps or system apps to Delete or Freeze as you may use other apps then I do...

Ahh that's cool. I'm running stock ROM and 35953 was my recent score. After freezing a ton of apps. And hibernating of course.
Might be higher if I didn't have Xposed addons and temp reading on all the time..
I wonder if this script would be OK on stock...
Gotta be safe I like my current install and homepage and swipepad stuff..

Not sure if everyone else knows but there is a easy way to load a rom on the vibrant.
In rom manager:
1. Select install rom from sd
2. Select your rom from the list
3. Select wype
4. And press ok
I've don't it and it works! No more going into CWM.

Not really.
Rom Manager has issues still, CWM doesn't.
CWM has more features and its safe, because the phone's UI and everything is off.
CWM is the most used, because well, its on every rooted phone.
I prefer using CWM because its safer with more options
Not tryin to be an ass but fear676 you have 4 threads in the front page right now.. Is that really necessary?

I see it like the difference between flashing a BIOS update from the command prompt compared to doing it within windows. While the windows version is usually safe, the odds of things getting messed up is greater.

I just wanted to give my opinion about rooting, I'm sure a lot of people like to do so, but on this device I don't think that you need to, I did a root on my .gs1 because of lag, then my arc needed more then root lol but my sgs 3 so far the best phone that I ever seen, not perfect, but as for lag, battery life, speed its top!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
There a a ton of reasons to root besides lag.
I have an app that requires root that keeps my clock in sync with the actual atomic clock time. The system clock will, over time, be too fast or too slow which means that eventually my phone is a few minutes off.
I have an app that requires root that is used to freeze/quarantine bloatware.
I have an app that requires root that allows me to backup not only my applications, but the application data as well.
I also enjoy root for custom ROMs and kernels that have less lag/stutter than the phone normally does (and yes, this still applies to the Samsung Galaxy S3).
There are always reasons to root.
I understand, I'm not saying not too, for me if the phone is good I'm leaving it stock
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Root no >> then no Nandroid and No TB no Ad Blocker . No push apps .

Rooting has absolutely nothing to do with reducing lag or anything at all performance wise.
Rooting just gives you superuser permissions on your device.
Even if you are running an octo core phone with 5gb of ddr3 ram, rooting still offers benefits.

I fail to see the reason for this topic.
You choose not to root your phone and seem to have no idea what rooting actually means.
Fine by me, why should I or anyone else care what you personally do and do not do with your phone?

Galaxy Phones are hard to hardbrick (not revivable through simple software and/or a 2$ USB-Jig)
By following the instructions in the General section ('following' meaning 'reading', not 'assuming' or 'trying') you're on a quick and painless root.

Just use ktoonz kernal and getting the newest version after that go down to the bottom of the post and click the link that says for older builds then go to post 5 I believe it is and choose a setup that is performance oriented and there you go.. why would you need a whole rom to be gamming oriented? Im guessing you just want better performance. . Hope this helps

I'm just really baffled by this thread. The hardware in this phone is more than powerful enough to run anything in the Play Store without any mods or tweaks. The only thing that's "hard to understand" is why you would need a specially-tweaked rom for gaming when any old rom you flash will do just fine. You can hardly compare a gaming PC with a phone.

XDA is a development site not a support site. As such members are expected to do the research, read through the development threads and decide what is BEST for them. The only results that would be posted here are what each member has found to be BEST for them by experimentation based on their phone/usage/setup/apps/signal strength. Please take the time to read through those development threads to learn all about the software you are about to drastically alter your very expensive device with.

Looks like LG is busy building 4.4 out.
I am searching for a beta that I can download and convert for ROM for us to use...
Thanks to Chippah for Droid-Life news post for pointing out article.
If anyone can read Chinese or figure out how to download the KDZ please let me know
We've known about this for a while now. The site is a pay site. The Rom is Korean. I'm not sure if it was helpful or not. I remember reading somewhere that it wasn't helpful for porting to other devices. Especially since this is a few weeks old and I haven't heard any more movement on it or any breakthroughs in KitKat porting.

If he was so worried about losing his job than maybe he should have not sent it out
If you want to keep it to yourself for whatever reasons that is fine.

Can you at least post the lib, etc and vendor folders?

So why not post it up so more devs can try to fix it up? If you guys are going to post it anyway why not have others try too?

People tend to forget there are a lot more people with knowledge about developing and fixing roms. But most of them have a job and can't update a rom like Starlighter. There is simply no time for that. But they can help out fixing a KDZ base (Korean/verizon).
When it's available for everyone with knowledge it will be booting a lot faster.

So now that its possible to install some mods to our shields, Im just wondering if we can start a new thread posting modpacks compatible with the shield. Im making this so people can find mods easier and know that they work without having to do a lot of trial and error.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/18qd0mpaskgx180/hl2.zip?dl=0
Heres my custom pack with a couple random mods i found to start off with. If this is in the wrong forum, then its okay to delete this thread, i just wasnt sure where else to put this because HL2 for android and Pc work differently and im not sure where else to put it because not alot of people have a nvidia shield.
Edit: So here the link to the mods list, which public editing is allowed so any more mods people find that work, you can add it to the list. Be sure to include the link to the mod and what kind of mod it is.

I think this is a great idea! Let's hope that some people who tried out mods, will contribute. You could add an openly accessible Google Doc file (i think that's possible), so in order to create a compatibility list that everyone can add to.
I was thinking the same thing, should i make a list seperating half life 2 and its episodes? Or just keep it all in one list?

I'd say, separate it by Half Life, its episodes and Portal. Nobody has cleared yet, whether or not there are any differences in the engines that run each of those games (except for the obvious difference with Portal), but i saw that some Half Life 2 mods require Episode 1 and 2. So there might be a difference. Or it's just using it's resources, i'm still not sure. As soon as i'm done playing through all the original games (just finished Half Life 1, which i wanted to do before getting back to part 2), i'm definitely going to try out some mods myself. It's going to take a while yet though^^.
