This suddenly happened on my phone this Eve of Christmas. It was never dropped, wet nor bent.. It just happened while I was trying out voicemate. I think this is not software related as it is the same when I'm in recovery mode. Sometimes the display is correct and is not garbled but after a few seconds of touching it it acts this way again, if I try to turn off the screen it goes away but returns immediately after. Sometimes the screen won't turn on but I can feel that it is actually on thru the vibration feedback it is giving when trying to press randomly in the screen. I'm still going to try to revert to stock Rom as I am on rayglobe and rooted in case I need to send it in for warranty. I have already reflashed the Rom but still the same.. I just can't believe this is happening hours before Christmas and a few days before the new year.. I'm sure repair services of LG will take time.. Coincidentally, last year when I was using Samsung S3, the motherboard of the phone broke down on New Year's Eve..
Any thoughts what part of the hardware is failing? And what else can I try to troubleshoot before bringing this is to repair? Appreciate your comments. Thank you!
Charles

guys any thoughts what caused this?
upon observation, this is more of a heat issue. if the unit is rested in a cold place it takes more time before the screen gets distorted like this but after a while of having the screen on it starts acting like this.. i hope LG repairs this fast!
Sent it for repair man, nothing else you can do as it seems.I wanted to ask if you had it modded or something,to see if there was something that caused it.But it seems the hardware is failing.
Definitely faulty hardware. Have it sent in for repairs. Looks like a faulty flex cable. Or it could be the main board though.

The power button on my ThinkPad broke. Pushing it didn't do anything. I shipped my tablet back to Lenovo last night, it was fixed and shipped back to me today. I should have a working tablet in hand tomorrow. Amazing work by Lenovo.
I don't think anything bad but why are you making thread to inform us about that?

It is a known issue with these tablets (See Lenovo's forums).
I thouhgt a post here was worthwhile in case anybody on XDA is having similar issues and hasn't seen the lenovo thread.
yeah its a known issue, but whats surprising is how fast they fix it and sent it back.

Yeah, it was 36 hours total from when I dropped it off at UPS to when I had my tablet back in my hands.
Lenovo is really good with warranty service.
Oh sorry then
My button stopped responding yesterday, but I ended up just fixing it myself. I was planning to send it back but I didnt want to do so without wiping the device first, but I couldnt do this since it was already off and I couldn't boot.
It was rather easy. It only took three (rather small) solder points to reattach the button. I then put a dab of epoxy around it reinforce the component. Lenovo messed up on this design, its really only being held in by those three tiny joints (which takes the entire force of your button pushes). I'm curious how Lenovo is fixing these RMAs, if they're just resoldering it again it is bound to break later. Do you care to open up your TPT?
Here's a pic of my broken button:

The three pink dots within the green square are what I believe are the only original soldered points. Not good at all. It may be a good idea to put some epoxy on the internal button even if it is still working/has been repaired. If requested I can put a quick guide together for future reference, but I let the epoxy cure over night and just closed up the device. I'm a bit lazy at the moment
a quick guide would be interesting, I've read it's a common issues on the TPT
Thanks

I'd be interested in a guide as well. My TPT is going to lose it's warranty in ~6 months and I'm sure I'll be needing or wanting to crack it open by then. I've also heard and now seen the power button is a source for poor design. Hopefully we'll see a "wake on/unlock device" mod for hardware buttons in the CM9 port to decrease the power button's use.
Same thing happend a month after getting it...i was pissed and the phone hold time for lenovo ...sucked....but they fixed it for free and i got it back in a couple of days so im satisfied

I put up a guide on my repair here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521389
I've had my Nexus 4 16GB for almost a month with no problems.
I plugged in my phone and went to shower for 10 minutes.
When I came back, I turned on the screen, and now I have a constant dim flickering over my entire display!
I've restarted twice and the problem persists.
How can I determine if this is a software or hardware issue?
If it is a hardware issue, do I have to remove the root (done about a week or 2 ago) before I send it to Google for a replacement?
Likely software. Some other phones I've had have also had screen flicker. If you do RMA it and it turns on and boots you should probably unroot and relock the boot loader.

Try flashing another ROM and see what happens. (Make a android backup first). To send it back to Google you're going to need to revert back to stock.

Update for anyone who might get this problem randomly. I turned the phone of for a little while and then turned it back on and it was fine. I've since switched from stock to CM10.1, and it's still fine.

Strange, I've got the exact same issue right now... flickering is present in recovery/boot so I thought it maybe hardware failure.. will try CM10 instead of MCR once I've backed up! For reference:

That's not exactly what mine looked like, the flicker was more of a flashing of the entire screen. That very well could be a hardware issue, but don't take my word for it. I never flashed a ROM or wiped anything to fix the problem. I simply turned the phone off a few times for around 10 or 15 minutes each time, and I just didn't see any more flickering. Hope yours can be fixed this way too
Doesn't look like it, I left it off for about 6 hours, still pretty stuffed. This is definitely hardware... looks like my night just went from bad to worse. :/
Oh that sucks
Hopefully you can get a replacement quickly.
Good luck

Unfortunately, it seems that your phone has a dead pixel which is a hardware issue... there are some apps that pretends to wake-up dead pixels but for me it never worked. The only solution was to send it to repair

Hi, looks like a stuck pixel on your screen. Use an app from play store that fixes stuck pixel and should fix it.
Something like this >> https://play.google.com/store/apps/...EsImNvbS5odGMuY2hyaXMuYmxhY2tzcG90ZGV0ZWN0Il0.

A dead pixel is black. He has a stuck pixel. This can be fixed with some apps. In case doesn't fix , you can go from where you bought it and replace it, but first give a try to some apps that fix stuck pixels.
Thanks for reply Dean and Kimkim. I have installed that app and run it twice. First time for 10 mins and second time for 30 mins. But no luck. That stuck pixel is still there. Now have to go to service center only.
Btw what is the reason behind happening of this? Any idea?
Thanks & Regards,
Chintan

I have managed to remove a stuck pixel on my S2 by simply rubbing the screen!
It sounds crazy but someone told me to try it and it worked, it never came back.
Just apply pressure to the screen where the stuck pixel is and keep rubbing, it should disappear.

I remember i did this on a old LCD monitor and it worked, but i really wouldn't suggest apply any pressure on s4 screen. They're lots of reports of broken amoled under the glass. So doesn't sound like a good idea. Better to have it replaced for free than to bring it back with broken screen and to be charged for that.
Ok. Thanks everyone. Will go to service center in a day or two to get it replaced.

Now I have to go svc only.

I'm impressed. I wouldn't dignify your capslock message with a response to be frank.
No,its not just the normal ghost touches. sometimes my touchscreen shuts down completely. Trust me,i read the forum.
If you waited 3 weeks for this anwsers, even tho the question they asked was clarified weeks ago,you would also be mad and write in capslock.
Wow LOL. Its almost as if its some sort of robot they have that responds to emails.. Pathetic. Just go straight to PayPal bro.
Honestly I don't think full on caps with exclamation marks will speed up your RMA any faster...
in fact, it ALMOST seems like customer service was dicking you around for the fun of it..
I'm experiencing the same issue, already sent email and submitted RMA . Got one response only to advise I factory reset which I have done. If this goes sour, how long is eBay's or PayPal's fraud protection as I might have to go that route as well...

Don't wait, contest the charges because of a defective product right now with Paypal, problem solved , ok almost solved you are still stuck with a broken phone but at least you will get your money back.
If i remember correctly it's 45 days for Paypal.
Yeah that pretty much sucks. I guess that is what happens when the company and customer service are from China. I sure hope my phone has no issues really makes me think twice about the phone. Probably would not buy another unless they get this all sorted out.
My phone had the same issues. Ghost touches really bad and sometimes the touch screen would just stop responding altogether. The only way to fix it was to hold the power button and reboot the phone.
Today CM merged the firmware update from synaptic and Franco merged it into his newest kernel. I flashed it about 4 hours ago and no longer have any of the issues. I was even out in the sun earlier and that's when I had a lot worse problems when the phone was warm. I honestly think your problem is just the touchscreen firmware just like mine. I'd give Franco's kernel a try and see if it fixes your problem.
So just tell them you contact paypal. Im getting my replacement now.
Support Tickets
I don't know how you even got them to respond. I've put in three different Support ticket (starting on 8/31) and followed them up with at least 5 different emails, messaged almost all the mod's on the forums and have yet to receive ANY kind of response!!!!
Wow. I was thinking they were going to have really bad customer support, but now I'm amazed at how patient they were with you.
How is it that so many people are able to replicate the ghost swipes easily and put it up on youtube but you can't be bothered to?
Not to mention the fact that you haven't been bothered enough to check that there is a fix coming and waiting till then to check before saying it's a hardware bug.
Hello brothers i have been using note 4 910c for some time now but recently i m facing this issue with back camera. U can see in pic attachted. The line appear in only dark environment in night or in doors not in day.or well lit area. they also appear in pics.
Things i have done so for to fix it.
Reset to factory settings serval time.
Changed from stock rom to custom glamor s6 rom. With stock kernel.
Use third party camera apps.
Cleared cache serval times.
Nothing helps. Till now so i posted here.
One thing more this is my third note 4 910c
The first one had no issue i sold and
Got a brand new one and when i opened the box it had this issue pink and purple lines so. I return it and they gave me a brand new one. Its been 4 months now and recently. The same issue appears in this one.
I cant replace it. Coz its not coverd in warranty. Anymore it in international warranty.
Things i think r related to my issue camera firmware or kernel.

Water damage to the camera
A bit of a late post, but I had this exact same issue on my note 4 right after it got water damaged. I bought an armband sports pouch for my phone so the water damage incurred was from my own sweat due to my Jogging. I put the phone in rice for three days and it went back to normal with no more camera issues. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that maybe the link to that issue is water damage and maybe all you need to do is leave it open, battery out, stick it in rice and let it dry for a couple of days. I never though that sweat can water damage a phone so even if you know that you haven't splashed it in water at some point. There could be small unnoticed factors that may cause it. Cooking while the phone is next to you can cause water damage because of the steam from the pots. Taking a shower while the phone is with you in the bathroom is also not good. Think back. Try drying it up. Hope this helps
