Either you have any warranty or not as long you updated your phone to 4.3 stock samsung rom there's no more chance to come back to 4.2.2 .unless i might be wrong? merry christmas to you sir and have a nice day.

[Q] Knox and Custom Roms

Hi Folks,
Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask...
I would like to Custom ROM my S4 and have been reading through this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447832 about Knox. It would appear Knox hasn't been activated on my phone yet as there's no mention of it in Download mode, here are the details gained from Settings and Download mode:
Android 4.2.2
Baseband: I9505XXUBMF8
Build: JDQ39.I9505XXUBMF8
SELinux: Permissive
Secure Boot Status: Type: Samsung
Device Status: Custom
Odin Mode:
Product Name: GT-I9505
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Official
CSB-CONFIG-LSB: 0x30
Write Protection: Enable
I am rooted but have used TriangleAway to set status back to official without any problems, my question is am I safe to install Custom ROMS/Kernels without triggering Knox warranty void? If so and I wanted to install a modded Samsung ROM will this still be safe or will it trip Knox?
Thanks for any suggestions, I'm never normally this cautios about flashing, but I really don't want to screw up my warranty.
Many thanks,
R.
If theres nothing about knox warranty 0/0 in download then u are on old bootloader and safe. Dont know about the custom roms I guess stay away from any mh8 mh5 mgg fw. Im pretty sure they are they fw with new bootloader. But just keep searching round.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
I've just bought a new S4 and it will arrive to my home in this week.... I hope it will arrive without Knox feature so I'd like to understand too what to do and what to not do in order to prevent Knox problems.
I think I'll flash the Google Edition ROM... any suggestions?
Thanks Buddy

Write potecton simply means that this newer version of the galaxhttp://romcook.com/?d=531CB2E216y has............wait fo it...............A LOCKED BOOTLOADER.................. Essentially, you will have to use a software tool to create a checksum hash code for your knox protected bootloaderand ulitmately unlock it. cheers.

All I can say.
It has been flashed before and is running a custom rom/recovery.
Knox is tripped. Flash binary is tripped.
Knox counter is a one time programmable efuse that cannot be reset anyhow. It can be a warranty void issue in many areas.
Thus you wont be able to use the KNOX containersnow.
Write protection enabled means a locked bootloader. Just simple.

Can i downgrade my firmware to 4.2.2 ??
or if i get official firmware of 4.4 then can i update it to 4.4 using ODIN??
i am really in delimma i don't know what will happen because of the new bootloader i can work or not.. Just need reply if i cannot downgrade or upgrade using ODIN then it's usless of keeping this phone i have to sell it that's why i need fast reply !!!
No. Can you upgrade to official 4.4 - probably, given if you have the Knox bootloader you can flash firmware the same or newer than what you have, but not firmware with the old bootloader.

i have heard if i downgrade my bootloader then i can install 4.2.2 is it true??
*cough*
I've already answered your question (and the answer is easily found in hundreds of different threads here/elsewhere anyway). And as I said to someone else on here a week or so ago, I find repeating myself tedious in the extreme.

[Q] Does rooting void your warranty?

I have galaxy s4 9500... When I had android 4.2.2 I rooted my phone and then
when the 4.3 update roll out I updated my phone and unroot my phone..
When I go to download mode all the stresses are "samsung official"... And no Knox counts...
Do I still have warranty?

Yes, you still have warranty (like in pic attached). Be relaxed :highfive:
*EDIT: You will void ur warranty (KNOX:1) if you root again ur phone having android 4.3.

AP SWAEV: A3
"

And if i flash and put ROM on my galaxy there is no way back right? no Trianle Away or something that support...

You have warranty now. For flash a CUSTOM ROM you need a custom recovery. Installing one custom recovery in android 4.3, void ur warranty

I have one more year of warranty... what would you do?
Right now the phone stuck often and touchwiz is annoying
It really depends in what country you live if you get warranty. In some countries Samsung gives warranty and in some they don't.
And for example if you live in the EU then the shop you bought it from still has to fix it even if you have rooted it.

I don't think we have it here.....don't know if to give up warranty for CM11 or HaSSan ROM V6.0....
Anyone? I'll be happy to get your recommendations
Once you root the device, you will need to do the following to restore warranty.
1. flash original unrooted firmware.
2. reset flash count.
This is for firmware up to 4.2.2.
If you install 4.3 or 4.4 and KNOX is enabled. rooting will void your warranty permanently.
That is my understanding...

Updating Baseband & Firmware to fix issue with CM11

Hi,
There was another post on this but unfortnately they poster did not actually describe what they were doing to fix it, so I am here to try to get help. (link to their post is here)
I am having a dropped call issue (and a camera issue) that I heard might be fixed by updating both the baseband/modem AND that firmware.
So here we go.
When I boot into download mode:
Code:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME : GT-I9505
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
SYSTEM STATUS: CUSTOM
KNOX KERNEL LOCK: 0x0
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x1
CSB-CONFIG-LSB: 0x30
WRITE PROTECTION: ENABLE
I am completely overwhelmed with what firmware/modem I want to acquire. I live in Norway, and travel to the US a lot. So whatever would be good for that.
Will any of these updates require me to re-root? What is this wifi-fix, do I need to get something like that as well? Is the KNOX warranty 0x1 fixable? Should I flash anything else besides baseband & Firmware? What is bootloader? CSC? PDA?
Thanks for taking some time.
For camera
My DropBox Link
Install this an tap in once..then try opening the camera.
For dropped call issue..
