S4 won't boot up, only SAMSUNG logo blinks - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have this problem with my Galaxy S4 i9505 LTE. I was using this rom:
[ROM] Google Edition S4 rom for i9505[17 Dec][deodexed & odexed 4.4.2, 4.3 & 4.2.2] with I9505XXUEMKE_Modem.
I had some issue like random turn offs during call, lately the phone started to turn off more often and today it got worse. When I turned on the phone only the logo appeared, but the download mode worked. So I sad nevermind, I will flash back original ROM, so I flashed via Odin: ETL-I9505XXUEMK8.The flashig process went smoothly with no errors, but after the phone restarted the problem is still present (it didn't boot up).
Any suggestions? I am really desperate. Flashing back the original ROM was for me the solution for everything in every phone I had before.
Download mode still works fine but I am not sure what to flash and I don't want to just try everything. At least for the warranty issues I now have an original ROM inside.
Thanks guys!

I see u are using O2 company. The correct firmware for u is this one: HERE. Flash it and I think all will be ok :fingers-crossed:

Are you using the correct Odin version for i9505?
Enviado desde mi GT-P7510 usando Tapatalk 2

Thanks guys for the reply. I am using Odin 3.04, see the attachment.
The problem is still present, although a slight different. it looked promising because after the update the boot sequence started Samsung i9505 logo->O2 logo->SAMSUNG logo but then after 2 mins the phone turned off and now it turns off at this point (it stays on 2 minutes on the logo and then shuts down). I also removed my SD card and SIM card no difference.
I am really worried that some piece of HW is broken. I will have to take it back to Euronics, but what can I do to make it look like original?
On the other ROM it turned down after 2sec on this logo:
http://blog.gadgethelpline.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/S4-Boot-Logo.png
now it gets stuck for 2 mins and turned down on this logo:
http://a1dev.wishmesh.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/07_Samsung-Galaxy-Note-II-N7100-1024x768.jpg (not a Galaxy S4 I googled the screenshot)
Any other suggestions?
There are a lot of other options in ODIN, is there something I can do more e.g. reflash bootloader or something like that?
EDIT: I am suspicious about the battery because on the charger, it stays on longer also I discovered that without the cable plugged in, it turns off even in download mode after 10-15sec! Is this the case? I heard that some S4 had battery issues.
Thanks guys.

It's a battery problem, on charger the phone works.

Correct odin version for s4 i9505 is 3.09, it was made specifically for LTE version of s4. With others versions you can get errors like yours...

i337m Issues - Unable to Boot

Hi Everyone,
I am going straight to the point:
- Rogers Galaxy S4 (I337m)
- when purchased couple of months ago, it was on factory firmware - I337MVLUAMDJ
- I decided to read about the running i9505 roms as per posting here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2295557 - I am not a newbie to any rooting & tools used - e.g. ODIN, TWRP, CF-AUTOROOT, etc. etc. I started with the CF-AUTOROOT and all went well.
- it had the latest TWRP installed via ODIN - openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-jfltecan.tar - as per: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/jflteca
- last night, the phone was perfectly running Omega v12 Jelly Bean 4.2.2 (Based on firmware ZHUDMI1 Android 4.2.2 (Date: 12/09/2013)),
- it was running with Kernal from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2289140 (Ktoonsez Touchwiz JELLYBEAN 4.2.2 VERSION)
- everything was working perfectly - WiFi, Data, Calls, etc.
- overnight the phone's battery drained , and when I went to charge it and boot it this morning - it was stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S4 logo - weird right?
- so I tried the following:
- tried to boot into TWRP - no luck
- the phone does boot in Download Mode , which is great
- because the phone boots into Download Mode, I downloaded the factory (non-rooted) ROM - I337MVLUAMDJ_I337MOYAAMDJ_I337MVLUAMDJ_HOME.tar
- MD5 was verified and ODIN completed without any issues
- The phone is still stuck in Samsung Galaxy S4 logo screen, it doesn't go anywhere else?
- What to do? Please help?
P.S. When ODIN is finished, it reboots and initially it loads the factory recovery and you see the android with the gearbox circling (lol), and then you see under the android image a blue bar - going across (indicating something was completed) and it reboots - at this point, it gets stuck on Samsung Galaxy S4 logo screen.
Also, when it is in download mode: it says the following -
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-I337M
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
CSB-CONFIG-LSB: 0X30
WRITE PROTECTION: Enable
Please help, & thanks in advance!
I have the same problem recently. I flashed through Odin. It says passed, but still the bootloop and not able to get into recovery.
You should try Kies firmware emergency recovery, or firmware update. It worked for me. Weird.
Did you do a factory reset in recovery after Odin?
Figured It Out...
Hi Guys!
This is going to sound funny and weird, but the problem is ... overheat/overload battery issue!
I realized the USB cable that comes with S4 accidently had a splice on the cable (I believe it could be because of my near-sharp corners around my desk, whereby, my cable makes contact). For whatever reason, when I charge using this faulty cable, the battery gets very hot and the battery percentage fluctuates. (was at 60% then drops to 20% then goes to 40% ... all within few minutes of each other...weird)
I am sure the battery itself has a circuit board, I was thinking it could have been damaged.
Anyways, I threw that spliced cable in the garbage and replaced with another OEM USB cable and the phone started to work fine.
Also note, I was reading another thread about someone flashing the wrong ROM, and they kept the battery separate from the phone for approx. 5 mins - 10 mins, and it resolved the issue.
So, basically that's what I did, keep the battery separate from the phone for that long and it worked.
But I will definitely change the battery with a fresh new OEM, I am not going to take any chances.
Thanks again all for your ideas. I am sure I would have resorted to that if this didn't work.

[Q] Sudden shutdown, phone won't boot.

I had just finished flashing and configuring crash rom v19, when my phone suddenly powered off.
Now it's not the first time I flash a new rom to my note 3 by any means, but this is a first.
Now my phone won't power on if not plugged in, and even then it powers on for less than a second, long enough to see the battery charging picture or the note 3 logo.
Recovery won't boot, but download mode works flawlessly, I pulled out odin3 with the stock ROM for my sm-n9005, checked the regin was right and everything, and after flashing using odin all I got was my phone rebooting over and over again trying to access recovery, then it booted no problem to the samsung logo, played the tune and even showed me my lockscreen for a second, and it's back to rebooting itself every 3 seconds.
Anybody have any idea what I'm facing here?
Edit: First thing tomorrow morning I'm going to take it to a store to try a new battery
@E-Chan42.
You can try this out.
I am not sure will this fix your problem.
First, charge your phone for 3 hours. Second, hard reset your phone then flash Stock firmware using ODIN.

I've had my phone plugged in for a short while, but since it keeps vibrating, showing an empty battery picture turning off, vibrating and so on every second I'm not sure charging will actually difference to my issue, still thanks for the input and I'll give it a try.
Ohm....
Then I guess it must be a Battery issue.
Give it a shot. Let's see if that works.
Took it in to my retailer and samsung guy restored the original ROM with Odin just as I did, when it didn't work he sent it off under garantee, thanks for your help! I'll update when I get a word back!

GT-I9505 unable to boot; freezes constantly in Download Mode; can't flash anything

Hello,
my Galaxy S4 got soft bricked recently and I am looking for a solution for 5 days now and now I decided to ask you guys for help since I can't find anyone with the same problem.
I had Albe95 LolliROM 9.0 (15/05/16) [HPA1] flashed on my phone for about 3 weeks and everything was perfect.
I was using my phone when it suddenly restarted itself and it got stuck in a bootloop (SAMSUNG animation). After many attempts I could boot into recovery (TWRP) but it would freeze there and I had to remove the battery...
I could also boot into Download Mode so I decided to flash a stock rom (I9505XXUHOJ2_I9505OXAHOJ2_I9505XXUHOJ2_HOME.tar) which I downloaded from Sammobile. Odin would always stuck at system.img.ext4 but again after many attempts it workted and I had success. When it was booting my phone froze at "optimizing apps". So I had to turn it off and restart again, but this time the phone was always freezing at the first samsung logo and wouldn't go further.
I can still go into Download mode but can't flash anything because eather Odin fails (complete(write) operation failed) or my phone freezes. Sometimes when I boot my phone into Download Mode the screen would do strange things like flickering and weird colors would show in DL Mode.
So my problem:
- booting into Download mode after works though it freezes sometimes
- can't flash roms because phone is freezing all the time
The model # in download mode is 9505? Was the phone ever dropped? You're using the original Samsung USB cable to flash?

Thanks for the reply.
-yes modelnr is 9505.
-i have not dropped my phone recently. I mean its over 3 years old so of course I've dropped it but never really bad and it has no scratches or anything.
-I've tried different cables and samsung cable was one of them.
I also tried all ports of my laptop even tried another pc
Maybe flash the stock rom with a pit file?

I didn't try this pit file thing because I don't understand the meaning of it exactly..
But after many many Odin flash attempts I got a success with a stock rom 5.0.1.
I think I figured out what the problem is but I can't really tell why it's happening (Hardware broken maybe, but which one?)
So after the flashing the stock rom successfully the phone restarted and started the first boot but it froze during the samsung animation again...
I thought maybe if I try a lot of times eventually it will work, so I tried and tried and it always got stuck at samsung animation. (before every boot I had to remove the battery and wait ca 10 sec because otherwise the phone would not start booting at all)
I did not come further than the samsung animation so I removed the battery and placed the phone (I almost gave up).
But after one hour I tried again and this time it passed the samsung animation and got to the Optimization part of the apps. aaaaand it froze there again.
I thought maybe if I wait again for 1 hour I can pass the optimization part. So I did and it really worked. I got to the startscreen.
So the current problem is:
- The phone boots and makes it to the homescreen and freezes after ca 10 seconds. And also I have to wait for about half an hour or one hour to get that far. If I try again right after the freezing I can't get passed the Samsung logo.
What could cause this freezing? Maybe the cpu has to "cool down" in the one hour of waiting and freezes because it gets to hot? I really don't know what it could be.
Something on the motherboard, likely either CPU, EMMC chip, or GPU, is failing. Why or how I don't know, but I'd have a tech look at it.

Galaxy Note 4 - No Power , Wont Charge

Hi All,
I've done a fair bit of Googling about this problem and I'm fairly certain my phones (hard) bricked, but I said I'd post just to make sure.
I have a Galaxy Note 4 N910F running a custom rom ( I cant remember which ROM, I think it was like Kyros Final Edition Note 5 Port or something) , I've been running it for a few months with no problem, last night I was uninstalling various apps from my phone, games etc... when my phone froze and turned off, when I turned it back on it was stuck in a bootloop, showing the galaxy note 4 screen vibrating twice and turning off and repeating.
I tried to boot into TWRP but it just froze on the Note 4 logo with "Warranty Bit Recover Set" or something along those lines at the top, when I took the battery out and put it back in, the phone would no longer turn on, nor will it charge, its completely dead.
I somehow managed to get it turned on again after a while, went into download mode and using Odin installed a stock rom, the install went fine however when the phone restarted after the install it said "booting to recovery" and ended up with a dead Android dude and a "no command message" , I got into recovery mode then and cleared the cache. Then I restarted the phone again and the same thing happened.
Now the phone wont turn on again, I've soft reset it, left it plugged in charging for a while and still nothing. Has anyone experienced something similar to my problem before? Any advice/help is much appreciated.
Thanks
Alan

From what I can tell, a possible issue you could have is with the battery. I used to have this problem, my phone would re-start for no apparent reason, couldn't even get to recovery. I switched the battery for another and it worked again. So maybe you could try that
