Problems installing new ROM for HD mini - HD Mini General

Hello guys,
I'v gone through alot of threads before deciding to post this up but I haven't found any good solutions. I have never installed a ROM before so installing Android on my phone is becoming a nightmare. Firstly i'm not entirely sure WHICH files and folders I need to place into my SD card I read the guide but it seems to be all over the place with the specific files or folders I need to place, can anyone shed some light on this topic?
Kind Regards

The lights already there in FAQ Android Mini.
Choose the ROM you like and begin it's instructions in the owner's thread.

How about creating a sticky n00b guide?

Just got my hd2 today and looking through the boards im confused.
i understand theres new roms, loads of extensions and some critical apps but i dont know where to start.
Could someone please create a new thread thats just for n00bs, that gives an up to date guide for getting the best out of a factory fresh hd2?
im not talking about anything too specific, just the latest (or best.most stable/fastest) rom (and how to flash) and some general guidance as to the most popular apps to install off the bat (theres got to be some commonality there).
thanks guys!
there are at least three sticky guides to rom flashing on the rom development section, the hints and tips sticky in this section is also a first stop.
as to questions like"best rom"..that's a completely subjective question...everyone has their favorite.
course, if you wanna write a new guide no one will complain!

To have the latest and greatest, or one that fits your needs better then what your service provider thinks your needs are.

No worries man, welcome to the community Chances are however you may end up with a few 'Just search!!' answers but I understand there is almost too much info to understand out there but do check out the sticky threads at the top of the HD2 rom development forum as there is a wealth of detail there.
In answer to your question: 'why would anyone want to mod the rom or mess with it? please kindly answer it.'
There are many reasons for doing this, I assume that you come from the 'HTC probably know whats best for their phone as they made it' point of view, this is not always the case.
Let's take a real simple example: There is a limited ammount of space in internal memory and the more you can get the better and some of this space is taken up by pre-installed applications and images that you may never use and some of these can't be removed simply by deleting.
This is where 'cooking' roms comes in: In order to remove those apps you have to create a new OS image (rom) without them in (this is cooking, which is generally performed by experienced people who will publish their roms in the roms forum) and then to be able to get that on your device you need to 'flash' the cooked rom (OS image) onto your device (think of flashing as installing the OS like you would windows from CD on a PC) , and viola you have a new rom on your phone which leaves you more space in internal memory to use for yourself.
There are obviously far more complex reasons for cooking roms (speed improvements, fixes, mods and changes to the UI) but in order to keep this short and simple I've used the above example. If you want to know more check the noob tutorials in the rom forum.
Be careful however, and ensure you read all the information you can search for / find in there as there are some potential pitfalls if you don't do it properly.
Thanks prime! I got it now :]

If its your brothers phone you shouldn't be plying with it. If you want to get into flashing and playing with a HD2 buy your own.
Before you flash anything or ask any questions please go and read the sticky topics and use search function.

New to HD2. Help with froyo install please?

hello everyone. i recently had my touch pro2 swapped out for the hd2 and i would like to put android on it. i've found some files from a developer named darksense but i'm not quite sure how to make use of them. can anyone explain how to install android on a fresh HD2? or at least link me to a thread in the forums that will help. thank you in advance
p.s. i've noticed two installation methods(SD and NAND) i'd prefer the NAND because from what i've gathered, i dont HAVE to have an SD card that will hold the OS

How to - Install custom rom.

Hi there,
After recently owning and breaking and then loosing a Samsung Galaxy Ace, I am now thinking about buying a HD2.
I am used to flashing roms etc as I did it on my SGA, many, many times. I have seen a few threads but cannot find an answer on how to flash a custom rom for a HD2.
My questions is....
Is it as simple as copy paste the rom to SD card, boot into recovery mod and flash from the SD card into the phone? Or is it more complicated then that?
Any guidence will be appreicated!
Thanks!

yes it is very simple but make sure you follow the steps correctly. i suggest you to go for NAND ROMS as they are smooth. let me know which ROM you want to install and i'll guide you through

Well, since you were on an Ace, you should know to search first and not waste people's time with questions which have been asked far too many times here before. Here is a full tutorial, and in future read the stickies and search before asking stupid questions.
