[Q] Hide web albums in Gallery app - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
in short, I want to hide all my Picasa/Google+ web albums from my Gallery app. Sounds easy, I know.
So, let me tell you what I did. Firstly, I disabled all sync services (Settings > Accounts > Google > (my gmail) ) that were related to photos, that is Google+, Google+ Photos, Drive and Google Photos (notice there was no option for Picasa Web Albums at all).
Then, I went to Settings > Apps > All > Gallery and cleared data+cache. Did the same for Google+ and Drive, just to be sure.
Unfortunately, after opening the Gallery app, Menu > Refresh, all the web albums were back! (firstly Gallery shows only albums from the storage, but then after some time, the web albums show up).
I went even further, and disabled ALL the sync services from Google (yes, all of them). Cleared data+cache for Gallery, G+ and Drive. Result? After refreshing the Gallery app, web albums are back!
I even removed my Google account (web albums were finally not in the Gallery), then added it again, turned off ALL the sync services and yeah, guess what, web albums were magically back.
Please help! I have no idea how to proceed now.
My specification: Nexus 10, Android 4.4.2.

Weird, I just disabled Google Photos sync and my Picasa albums stopped showing up in Gallery, I also deleted Gallery data and rebooted. I don't think you can stop Google+ from showing your Picasa albums, since it's just displaying a "web view" of the data, not a local cache copy.
I have 5+ Gb of Picasa pictures, and I don't see Google+ taking up much data. Gallery would store 1+ Gb of data in cache from my Picasa albums.
Maybe just try disabling Google Photo sync, clearing all data for Gallery, then rebooting to see if that fixes Gallery.

Yes, that should work, since I found that solution almost everywhere. Strangely it doesn't work on my Nexus 10 for some reason.
I still don't understand why the method above (disable sync, clear data) seem to work for everyone but not for me. Could that be a KitKat issue?
Oh and I tried what you said, with rebooting. Didn't work. Photos don't show up in the Gallery app only if I completely remove my Google account (which of course is not what I want to do).
My N10 is rooted, would that change anything? (I don't think so, but at this point I'm completely confused about what's going on here.)

[Q] Turn off Picasa integration in Gallery

Hey all,
Anyone knows a way to disable Picasa integration in the stock gallery? Dont really want it to even cache all my thumbnails as I have 25,000 + photos in my albums...
Ideally I'd like to be able to enable or disable at will, or only show chosen albums; but disabling it completely works too.
Thanks!
Just for the info to anyone who might face a similar problem:
Actually, nevermind, I've switched to JustPictures instead of the stock gallery - it might be not as fancy, but gets the job done, doesnt try to cache 50 albums when you open it and is actually slightly faster when zooming.
I removed Gallery completely from my system. Piece of junk. Using JustPictures now.

Go into Account & Sync and unticked the "Sync Picassa" box.
If for some reason it's still there in your Gallery, go into Applications, manage applications and clear data for "Gallery".

Wow man, first I was gonna say something like 'wtf, do you think I haven't tried that?' but then I realized that my auto-sync has always been OFF.
So, with autosync OFF, Gallery app STILL pulls all your Picasa albums.
Once I've turned it ON, but unticked Picasa checkbox, cleared Gallery data and deleted /sdcard/Android/data/com.android.gallery3d/cache - the Gallery actually stopped trying to cache Picasa albums.
Hope this helps someone, thanks for your reply.
the original gallare has got a "by tag" feature, which works for some photos. I tried to tag few photos in windows or picasa and upload them to Tf and i cant get "by tag" work my test album.
is there any gallery app which handle tags properly? even i can tag or rate photos in it?

Disabling the picture sync doesn't achieve what we think it should. I disabled picture sync, cleared gallery data but the albums were still there in the gallery. I noticed that the Google+ had 13MB of data eventhough I didn't once open it. I deleted the data for google+ which actually removed the albums from the gallery. I wish it was simple and there was a way to sync selected albums. Hope this helps.

Gallery problems.

I just got my N7 yesterday from Gamestop! Woot! Loving it so far. The only thing I'm not loving is the Gallery app, It keeps syncing my picasa pics to the gallery. I tried the disable gallery, remove google account fix and it works, but only for a minute or two, after which the gallery shows my picasa pics again.
Also, a possibly related problem, Gallery won't show my downloaded pics or any screenshots I take. I download QuickPic for now, and it shows everything the way I'd like it: No picasa pics, only on-device pics.
Any help would be aprecciated. Thanks.

This is what I did:
-log into your account
-go to settings, account, google, your account and disable photo sync
-go to settings, apps, all apps, Gallery, and clear cache
-open gallery and they should be gone

picasa pics availalbe Offline even though Offline is not chosen

I have none of my picasa Albums selected of "view offline" however if I turn wireless off. I can still view the pictures. I plan to upload alot of pics to Picasa and don't want to fill my nexus up. I also noticed that my nexus 7 became laggy after I started putting pictures up on Picasa. I just want to make sure that it is copying all my pics down to the nexus.
Have you found an answer to this yet? I also have been trying to figure out the same thing. I thought at first it was just the thumbnails but once I view an album the pictures seem to remain cached despite my offline setting.
Isn't this to do with G+ instant upload???? Go to accounts in settings Google, then look at what syncs turn off Google pictures and instant upload and anything else that resembles g+ go to apps All scroll to gallery clear data and reboot and they'll be gone

Yes, from what I've gathered it is the G+ instant and Google Pictures sync that adds the "picassa" albums to the gallery. I actually wanted my picasa albums in my gallery, however as I have over 100 albums I wanted them visible and accessible when online (to save space). I only want to chose a few select albums (kids, work stuff, etc) to make "available offline" but so far it appears as soon as I view an album it saves the full images in cache and still shows up when I'm offline, I don't want my storage getting eaten up by pictures that I only plan to view when online.

[Q] Gallery Albums

So, as you may have noticed(fellow N4 users), when browsing the Gallery you will see albums synced from Google+ and Blogger(I think?). How do you disable this? I've disabled Instant Upload, but I still see the album for it. I deleted my Blogger, but the gallery album is still there. There is an album from my Google+ post, and my profile pictures, and Scrapbook photos(my G+ cover photos) on Google+. Is there any way to get rid of them(without deleting my Google+ and it's contents of course).

1/Disable Google Photos from your Google sync account
2/Go to sdcard/pictures/cache/
delete com.google.android.googlephotos
3/Go to Settings => Apps => Gallery
clear cache, clear data
The photos should be gone from your phone for good.
Edit: you don't have to reboot. the 3 steps above are enough
Thanks+ Worked flawlessly.

Picasa Albums in Gallery will not delete

Having an issue with the Gallery.
I had Picasa photo sync turned on and I didn't want my Gallery cluttered with old pictures/wallpapers that I've had over the past year. So I went, logged onto Picasa on my computer, and deleted all of the albums. However whenever I go into the Gallery app in my N4, and click the menu button and click refresh, all of my albums pop up.
I cannot access them as they have no pictures but they show the name of the album. I know I can choose to not sync them, hit refresh and fix the problem that way but it's a little OCD-type of thing that I just don't like. I've tried clearing cache and data in both the Gallery app and the Picasa uploader app in Settings-->Applications.
Tl;dr: I deleted all my Picasa albums on my computer but they still appear in my Gallery on my phone. I need a way to delete/remove them without turning off sync.
EDIT: Nevermind, found a solution. Please delete this thread, thanks!
To this day I have found no cure for deleting them unless you wipe your ROM, flash a new one, disable photo sync, and uninstall picasa with titanium. That's only to prevent it. Once it syncs the only solution is a wipe....
What was the solution?????
