I will try to switch the camera app to the front facing camera and it will just display a black screen and then after a few moments I will get a message saying that the camera app has stopped working.
I installed Goldeneye mod a few months ago and that is when I noticed this issue. It looks like Goldeneye is using the stick TW camera app. Well I just installed the latest version/nightly of the CyanogenMod and that looks like it has the 4.3 camera app. I just tried the front facing camera and the same black screen and freezing of the camera app came up.
I am downloading the latest version of Goldeneye now and am going to try with that but the download is going to take about two hours.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am having an issue with my front facing camera. When I use either the stock Camera app or even Qik and toggle to the front facing camera, the screen goes black for about five(5) seconds and then the app crashes (Camera and Qik).
I was having the same issue prior to rooting and installing Cyanogen.
Was having the issue stock on 2.3.3
Having same issue on 2.3.4 via Cyanogen
Model 9020A
Any troubleshooting? Any advise?

worked for awhile on CM10.1 and AOKP then it randomly just kinda stopped working?
Camera app would freeze up when switching to front camera.
Rear facing camera works perfect though.
Reverted back to stock and everytime I switch to the front camera it says "camera failed".
im kinda outta ideas on how to fix this..
Still on stock untill i find a solution.

I've dropped my Nexus 4 into water for a second, and few months later it still works fine - except the rear camera. It flickers, randomly chrashes and gets crazy. Some times I manage to take several photos before it goes nuts. Front camera works fine!
I tried flashing clean rom etc. - problem persists, obviously it's not sw issue.
So I ordered replacement module. I installed it immediately and now my camera just force closes. There is no way to open camera app. I tried reinstaling camera app, clean flash etc., everything I could do from software side.
My old camera module works like before so I reverted the change.
Does anyone have experience with changing camera module? Any advice? Broken camera maybe?
so theres this new app houseparty but I have really dark front facing camera in that app
how do I fix this? I'm on stock 6.0.1.

Have you tried using the standard camera app that comes along with your device to see if the picture taken under the same condition is the same as on the app?
i got the same issue too, don't know how to fix it

Hello! i got an camera question/problem with my Oneplus 5. So I have tested out some roms, for example AOSP extended and Resurrection Remix etc and everything works like it should without one thing. When I open snapchat THE FIRST time (when I just downloaded it from play store) it opens and I can log in etc. Then when I click "log in" im coming to the camera as you should and it is the FRONT facing camera that uses and then when I switch the camera to the rear camera everything works fine. But here is the problem, when I am trying to switch back to the front facing camera it won't switch back. It is like it's switching between my two rear cameras instead of switching to the front camera because I notice a different between when im trying to switch camera. I am pretty sure it is switching between these two cameras instead of my front facing camera.
Anybody have the same problem? Any solutions?
I got a Oneplus 5 and I have tested different roms but have the same problems, I have been rooted on all the roms so that shouldn't be the problem.
Thanks and hope someone have an answer because I don't wanna use OOS forever... <3
