[Q] SD card partition - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello. I've received new micro sd card class 10 and wanted to create fat32 and ext4 partition via partition wizard. I attached a picture which shows what always happens. When I try to partition it with cwm it just freezes for hour and still nothing happens.
Second partition is ext4 but it shows OTHER and the partition is full.

Try using TWRP to repartition.
You can also try using Easeus partition master, (almost) always works for me.

[Q] Failed to setup APP2SD

Hey guys,
I decided to setup my sd card today cause my phone internal memory was constantly running out. I followed the stickies on how to partition the SD using EASEUS. After I partitioned the app2sd partition, i booted up my phone. The phone says there is no sd card. So i rebooted the phone and mount my SD card through recoverymod. I can still see my sd card and files inside of it, but it only has 7GB left instead of 8GB. EASEUS too only detects only one partition of 7GB. Other then mounting the storage through recoverymod's Mounting USB Storage, the sd card cant be mounted anywhere else. Recoverymod shows Error: failed to mount /sdcard for all functions that require the sd card.
Has anyone came across this problem and fixed it ?

It seems that your sdcard is corrupted.
Try to backup all data and reformat all partitions in linux
Windows can't recognize second partition on sdcard & it can sometimes mess up the partition.
Try GParted (google it).

I tried browsing my SD card through GParted ( linux version and boot cd version), and all of them shows only 1 partition of 7gbs. One G is still missing and sd card still fails to work .

Did you make a backup of your sd before creating the sd ext partition
? Should be written in each tutorial concerning sd ext creation.
Otherwise your data is no more.
As already written, windows is not able to read a sd ext partition. its fully right, that your fat32 partition shows only 7gb, the other 1gb is used from the sd ext and not viewable by windows.
...to create a sd-ext very easy go into cwm-advanced-format sd card and chose 1gb ext 0 swap.

Try this :
Backup all data in your micro SD.
Open & boot your computer using Gparted Linux / Parted Magic Linux / any other linux that has GParted / Parted inside its LiveCD
Run Gparted.
Delete all partitions.
Options:
Create sd-ext partition using GParted :
Create 1 fat32 Partition (as Primary) & adjust the size to your liking
Create 1 ext3/ext4 (as Primary...check if your android kernel support ext4) & adjust the size to your liking (usually 1 - 2 GB is enough)
Create sd-ext partition using CW Recovery:
Create fat32 Partition (as Primary...use all space)
Boot HD2 into AD Recovery
Go to Advanced menu
Format & choose sd-ext partition options
Flash your fav. ROM
Notes:
I personally like Parted better than GParted as it's a lot quicker & more advanced options (GParted is only a front-end for Parted).
Parted is for advanced user & TUI.
If you want to try Parted, make sure you read the manual & understand everything related to your actions (open console / terminal & type : man parted)
Use Parted using Root access (open console / terminal & type : sudo parted).
Use it with caution as it can wipe all of your hard drive data !

sd card partition problem...

Hi there,
Yesterday I was trying to partition my sd card on CM9, but something went wrong...
I set the ext size to 256mb, and swap size was set to 128mb...
Later I tried formatting sd-ext, but cwm displays the message that no sd-ext partition found...
Now my 200mb-250mb is wasted from my sd card...Can anyone tell me how to recover the lost space...
U can get it back by putting it in a computer and using Minitool Partition Wizard. However why on earth did u set 128 swap. Its supposed to be 0 or 32.
Anyway try partitioning and getting the ics s2e from saaransh's thread

Minitool ext4 partition not applying.

Basically after I create an ext4 partition on unallocated space and then hit apply, it thinks for a few minutes then acts as if eveyrthing's cool, after I re-instert the card back, the space is AGAIN unallocated instead of being ext4 1gb.
Why is that happening? Thus preventing me from intalling NexusHD JB Rom.
Check the read only tab on the sd adapter if you are using one. With the card in can you copy and delete any files from the fat 32 partiton?

i saw that too, when i was setting up to multiboot wp7 and nativesd,,, , it wouldnt create and format the ext, , i got around it by creating the partition, applying, , exiting the app, removing the sd card, reinserting the sd, restarting minitool and formatting the partition. Took me several goes before it stuck.
so did you fix it finally?
EASEUS Partition Master 7.1.1 Home Edition
try this partition
both the sd's should be connected via usb not via card reader slot or something !
make the partition from the phone

Unmount second partition

I have a rooted Lenovo S750 with a 16gb sd card
I used Aparted to make a partition for Link2sd. The partitions size now are 4999Mb and 10000mb
I thought that Link2sd would use the first piece but uses the second.
II tried to delete them to make them reverse(10000mb and 4999mb)
With Aparted i can only delete first partion. The second partition is bring up a message say i have to unmount first. I can't unmount second partition
Android only unmount first one.
I tried to connect sd card to pc but minitool says sd card is ready only
Any Suggestions;
I am so stupid. i lost 2 hours for this.
I deleted partition 1 and then android sees partition 2 but if i unmount it Aparted application still bring up message for unmount.
I choose to wipe sd card. Partitions deleted and now is one big 15000mb. I reformatted and I'll try to create partitions again

SD Card Formatting/Partition Problem Galaxy E500F

Dear Concern,
Recently I have partitioned my 64gb SD Card in "two formats" by "MiniTool Partition Wizard" taking help of video tutorial to use some features of LINK2SD app. After partition the formats were:
01. FAT32 (type-primary) and 02. Ext2 (type-primary)
However later I decided to restore my SD card as it was earlier. So again I took help from vid tutorial and tried as below using "MiniTool Partition Wizard":
01. Delete EXt2 partition and
02. Merge the unlocated space to the other space
But after giving command when I press APPLY it didnt do anything but show a msg like "configuration not support". I thought that it didnt work caz there were some data in my FAT32 partition. So I decided to format that partition. When I went to the click format option two file system were shown shich are "exFAT & NTFS". I choose the first one and formatted that partition. After formatting the partition the file system of this partition change to "exFAT" which was earlier "FAT32". Still I cant delete and merge the 2nd partition (file system-EXT2) to the other one and restore my SD card in its earlier condition i.e. a partition-less SD card. Can you pls help me to solve this problem??
