Keyboard issues - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Hey all, on my stock rooted gs4. For some reason my phone kept defaulting to the Samsung keyboard even though I set default to be Kii keyboard. I froze the Samsung keyboard via TB, then it defaulted to Swype. I froze Swype, then it defaults to voice typing. Any ideas how I can get Kii to default as primary all the time? In on mk2 build BTW.

Yes I know where to do settings, the issue is that my preference for Kii keyboard to be my main keyboard does not stick.

Stock keyboard sucks. What do you use?

What else is compatible with jb 4.2.2?

Did you try swype under Language and input options?
Seriously what is up with the stock keyboard? It seemed pretty decent on the Note 2, but on the S4 if won't insert autocorrections when you hit space, and there's nothing in the options to enable it to do so. That is such a basic feature, and leaving it out is a huge step backwards. Samsung, what were you thinking?

Get SwiftKey. Blows everything else away.

Also using SwiftKey. I never cared for stock keyboards except for the blackberry keyboard but that's a whole different phone and argument in itself lol

I use the new Swype, it's came a long way.

+1, especially since they added the option to use swipe.

Swiftkey is my keyboard of choice. Works really well.
SwiftKey is the ultimate!
SwiftKey and Swype + Dragon - switching between the two. Not sure if I want to invest the $4 yet for SwiftKey!
I use the new Swype from the play store

You can turn off auto correct in the keyboard settings. I like the keyboard i like the fact it always has numbers at the top.
Swiftkey for life.
I use the stock 4.2 keyboard. I keep the apk on my SD so I can install it. You can swype or type and it seems to work well.
SwiftKey... Love it

+1 for SwiftKey.... Although I wish it also had the option for numbers at the top for us with bigger screens! But adjusting the long press to about 200ms makes it tolerable! Other that SwiftKey is bar far the best!

[Q] How to get emotions for Instagram?

How do I get all these cool emotions I always see on instagram? Is it an iPhone only thing? I'm running on stock ROM and I'm not rooted. Also I use stock Google keyboard.

It's called "emoji" and you must have a rom that supports emoji in order to use them and no it's not icrap specific

There's no way to get it on a stock ROM? I don't want to root this device again.

Cyanogenmod keyboard

I pushed over the apk file from a Toro ROM, set permissions and rebooted. The keyboard works except when you use gestures. It crashes and the keyboard restarts. Anybody know how to fix this? I've tried clearing the app data and it did not help.

I have been using that for the time being, but it's missing the long press for symbols and punctuation that I like.

Sorry. Yes I've selected default keyboard but when I press the switch language button on the keyboard it cycles through the language then the LG keyboard as well then I'm stuck on LG keyboard because there's no switch icon. Your keyboard is also greyed out where you can't deselect it.
Sent from my LG-D802
Yes its supposed to be greyed out. How are you switching to the other keyboard?

Go to settings, then language and input. What's it say your default keyboard is? Mine says lg keyboard. Refer to above picture.

I tried to recreate your problem, but the keyboard stays the same. I changed system language and the keyboard settings language to no avail. Sorry friend

Just use Google's keyboard in Google play, I'm finding the LG keyboard a bit cluttered tbh and I'm thinking of getting Google's keyboard also.

I just switched back to SwiftKey but I do like LG's keyboard so I was curious if anyone knew of a way to change that.
