Go Launcher EX Notifications question - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can I add more third party apps to the selection list for notifications? I want to use Textra on the dock instead of the stock messaging.

ChompSMS and builtin SMS Messaging

Can you fully disable the SMS Messaging app or uninstall it without causing issues if you install ChompSMS and make that the default for messaging
thanks
YES
in the SMS app you can hit 'MENU' and click on settings to disable the SMS notification and then do Vice-Versa in Chomp SMS to enable the SMS notification (Green SMS)
using the settings options in either you can set one up to take priority of the other, just have a tinker and see what you think, uninstalling mite be a step to far but playing with the settings this way is good enough
thanks for reply, yeh I've already setup the defaults and notifications
i just wondering if you could uninstall the version of messaging that comes with the phone
IIRC you can remove it and add chomp as the default using ADB. You'd have to rename it, of course and resign it as well if I'm not mistaken. We tried this with the default camera.apk and SnapPhoto and the results were a little less than desired.

[REQ]Custom lockscreen/touchwiz with handcent integration

Would love to see a modified touchwiz launcher that swapped out the default messaging app shortcut with one for handcent. Also, it would be cool for the unlock to unread message shortcut on the lockscreen to go straight to handcent, thought I believe that may be more difficult, as the notification showing up on the lockscreen is actually produced by the stock messaging app as part of its notification.
Thoughts, ideas?

Disable notifications on stock messaging for use with Handcent?

On every other android phone I've had I disable notifications on the default messaging app because I use Handcent for my SMSs. Maybe I'm dumb, but I can't figure out how to do it on the Note. Is it possible?

Launchers

Is there a launcher out there that gives me these features.
Besides the features Nova and Apex offer I'm looking for more options. Go Launchers offers some unread badges but you cant enable it in accessible settings on 4.2.2.
Unread notifiers. Unread badge on all apps installed on my device.
Apex has external notifiers but they don't work at all. The dev said u need to have the other app dev change there API. What a mess.
Nova only does gmail,sms,calls.
I need Kik, whats app, gmail, sms, phone call.
I was able to use nova and missed it and get what ever I wanted for unread badges but since I use a pebble the pebble notifier app takes over the missed it and it dont give me unread badges anymore.
SO is there a launcher that works with other apps for unread badges? Yes i need unread badges.
BUMP
If you want unread notifications and you're not particular about it being badges.. You can try out dash clock or minimalistic text widget..

Best Texting App?

I've come to realize that my default Messaging App on my Samsung Galaxy S4 seems to be causing a lot of lags lately. (That or my keyboard).
I've tested out a few Messaging Apps (Go Pro, Texter, Google Messenger, etc) but I find they're not as good as the default S4 Messenger.
Tried Texter, which is great! But when you get a text, it shows up in your notifications, but when you swipe the notification to clear the notification bar, it counts the swipe as a read message (wtf??).
Also, unlike the default messenger, it doesn't have an unread messages on the icon. So you actually have to open the app the see if you have any unread messages.
Any fixes or suggestions for better messaging apps? Or a way to update the current default app?
It would probably be easier if you'd enumerate some features you'd want said app to have.
Those unread badges are a feature of the launcher, not the texting app. Or rather, I myself have not seen any messaging app with that feature included.
As to why it doesn't work with other apps, it's probably because the default launcher only supports the default app.
In other words, you need another launcher to have those on other apps, but most launchers offer this as a premium feature only.
Also, I believe that, for some apps, it matters which way you swipe away the notification.
e.g., Swipe right - mark as read; Swipe left - just clear it.
