[Q] Any ROMs that have Guest Mode? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't live without Guest Mode. It's why I got my phone, and left Windows Phone (which has Kid's Corner for my 3 year old). Are there any good ROM's that have Guest Mode enabled? Or, Are there any apps or mods that emulate the same functionality as Guest Mode? Thanks all! Good to be back on Android... after a 2 year hiatus.

Any ROM built on stock should have it. Malladus is one of the more popular ones.

[Q] Android 3G

Ive been tossing the idea around on whether or not its something to pursue. In my mind it seems somewhat feasible. I currently have a Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 (which from what I can tell is basically a Samsung Galaxy S without a data plan through a carrier) and it is rooted. There are even start-up processes and services for the dial pad and phone (even though its only supposed to me a glorified MP3 player). So with that being said here is my idea...
The original Amazon Kindles came with free 3g connectivity right out of the box (no service plan). I am thinking maybe there would be a way to set up the Galaxy to connect to the Kindles free 3g internet. Maybe mock a Kindle ID to the Galaxy. Even if you did something along the lines of running a Kindle ROM in a VirtualBox type app on the Galaxy for server authentication.
What do you guys think????
I am new to the Android world but not new to computers or hacking (by hacking I dont mean black hat. I mean modifying things to suit your needs ie. rooting).
The Galaxy Players don't actually have a cellular baseband. The package's position on the board isn't populated. Thus, it's completely impossible for the Galaxy Player to connect to a cellular network.
The reason the phone and dialer bits are still present is they are core to Android and can't be removed easily.
ok what about tethering the kidles 3g to wifi???
The Kindle's 3G is only usable to download books. The connection is very restricted, and you really can't do anything with it. Obviously, if the operator detects excessive traffic on an account only intended to download eBooks, your access would be killed pretty fast.

[Q] Forward active call not working on Nexus 4

Hi
I am the happy owner of a Nexus 4 device but seems to have a complicated problem.
My carrier 3 mobile has a special app to forward active calls to other people at my work. I have never been able to make it work, and now my carrier says that Nexus 4 blocks that feature, despite it works for other android devices.
I have tried with the stock android version (4.2.2) and cyanogenmod 10.1.2 (also android 4.2.2) but none of these roms seems to support that feature?
Can I somehow make some adjustments to the settings (I have a rooted device), and if possible - what should I do?
Am I the only one with this wicked problem?!?!

[Q] GS4 SPH-L720 won't connect to Sprint 3G, txt, or voice after flashing to MiUi

OK folks I seem to have run into an issue here. I've got a @samsung gs4 on Sprint and I've been running CyanogenMod that I originally flashed via the Windows installer months ago. Later something got funky so I manually downloaded the ROM and flashed that through recovery and all was well.
I had just been telling my girlfriend about MIUI ROM since previous to her GS5 was an avid Apple fan. So I got the MIUI ROM straight from their site and flashed it to my GS4 show her.
After a few minutes of showing her around AND trying to let me flash it to her device as she still won't let me root and room her device I recovered back to my previous CM11 ROM.
Since then I haven't had anything but LTE service. Which is OK when your visiting the girlfriend family but I don't have it where I live. So now I can't call, text, or get 3G data.
I've checked my MEID and it matched what was under my battery cover. I read that during flashing that you can life that sometimes but I seen to be good there. I was unaware of this issue previously so I hasn't MEID backup.
Any ideas?

One you need to make sure you are using cwm recovery. That work for me previously and also you need to do this step.
MIUI FAQ:
How can i turn LTE on?
first try in settings:
- mobile networks
- Network type selection
- LTE
or
- Dial "*#*#4636#*#*"
- Phone Information
- change [LTE/GSM] to [LTE/GSM/WCDMA]
It is all on the MIUI thread.

I can Connect to LTE only.
1x, 3g, txt and voice are not available on my phone even while in areas that have service.
It's not an LTE issue since that is the only thing (cellular wise) that is working.
Sprint has no idea, and says to warranty it through Samsung. Problem is I'm rooted and I'm concerned they won't cover it. I'm just trying to work through any possibilities before I resort to sending it off to Samsung.

Cricket Samsung S5 - Any way to bring back the missing WIFI / US Tethering Option?

I am using a rooted Cricket Samsung S5. The WIFI and USB tethering are completely missing in the stock rom. I dont want to flash a new ROM mainly because none of the roms claim to be compatibe with Cricket anyway.
I was wondering, is there any way to bring back the missing WIFI / US Tethering Option? Any advise if greatly appreciated!
I am sure the tethering piece of software is still in the Rom and the shortcuts have been removed, so I installed Master Shortcut from Google Play but I dont know what to do next or even if I am on the right track.

Sorry to resurrect the slightly older thread, but I wanted to see if you go this all sorted out? I think your best bet is to find an APK from one of the ROMS that has it and install it. Then see if it works.

Proper Desktop (Freedom) Mode

Hello, I have recently bought this device. I got a deal for the LTE Variant, but it seems support for it is kind of lacking...
I installed LineageOS 17.1 suing the Nano GApps. I also enabled Freedom Mode, but apps seem to either never respect the mode (even with Force Activity Resize).
So, I am wondering if there is any app out there that allows the tablet to always run in desktop mode, with resizable windows and all.
Basically an always on DeX.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
