I got mine yesterday and think the front of the device looks great. The deep blue color with the brushed metal looks great along with the menu button and the invisible capacitive buttons. I wish the faux metal band around the phone was silver and not bluish silver. The back has a completely different color than the front (it's way lighter) and is super reflective and gathers fingerprints like crazy. Not a huge fan of it and I'm wondering why Samsung didn't use the same color as the front.
What do you guys think?
I do really like the phone. It definitely is a fingerprint magnet. I really like the brushed metal look on the back. I am not sure why they went with the two different shades of blue, but overall it does not bother me. It looks very smooth and you can't go wrong with the screen.
Loving mine. Found a replacement battery cover on eBay that is just black and has a metal cover - better than stock in my book. Designed for international, but works perfect, and this way I can leave the stock battery cover in the box and let it remain perfect for resale...

Love it. Glad I didn't get white.
I do agree with all your points, except I like the blue chrome edge.
I'll probably get a clear case, so I'm not so concerned about the back and fingerprints.
Can you post some pics

Great...
I too love the blue. I got this case and it looks very nice.
I like it just fine. Posted in another thread that I was having second thoughts about the blue until I actually got it in my hands. The back is definitely a fingerprint catcher, no doubt about it. But like many, I plan on having a case, so it won't matter at that point.

They did use the same color but different materials absorb color different and therefore the color look different. My car has the same issue with the gas cover.
Very happy I went with blue. I almost went with white because something about the thought of a blue phone didn't sit well with me... but this is not at all what I was picturing. Very nice, deep dark brushed metal look. It's perfect really.
I love the pebble blue color. I just can't do a white phone, just not my thing.

I disliked mine at first.
It was a total fingerprint magnet and super shiny, weird looking.
Very slippery to hold and rather cheap feeling.
Then I put a full-body plastic wrap on it.
That made it almost fingerprint-proof.
Also made it grippy to hold.
And makes it somehow feel like a more expensive phone.
It also makes this thing freaking brilliant/shiny!
After 24 hours, I'm now really starting to dig the way the phone looks.
The full-body wrap was a much better improvement than I was expecting.
---------- Post added at 07:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:45 PM ----------
I still hate the purple home-button though. It won't be long before someone is selling stickers to cover it up I'm sure.
I just hope it's a "thick" sticker so the home button sticks out more.
And I don't want to use a phone cover anymore. The blue is really sexy right now with the body wrap. Which somehow just doesn't seem to get any fingerprints on it.

Why? All hazards like loose change and keys are kept in a separate side compartment.
There's not much in the purse pocket it goes into besides leather wallet, and some lipstick which has a plastic exterior
My black One is still in great condition only two very very little marks at the top edge, barely noticeable and easily covered by using a black marker. I don't baby my phone anymore as I did in the first few days, but I don't deliberately risk scratching it by sharing the same pocket with other hard object either.
I know it will stand my daily use well without needing a case.

sometimes i really wonder about the intelligence level of some XDA users
Actually there are some reviews of early iPhone 5s in black where apparently the surface was so fragile you could write your name in the black surface on the back using a fingernail! I think the One doesn't suffer quite at that level, but it will chip. Still, any phone thrown in a bag with all sorts of bits and pieces is asking for trouble if you are expecting to remove it still in pristine condition!
The One S had similar issues with the ARC finish if I recall correctly.
Those are chips. So throwing a phone in a bag/purse cannot cause that. Has to hit the ground or she dropped it and didn't know or something.

The htc One does not have MAO coating as seen on htc one s, it's only anodized silver. So it does not have the same chipping issue but because silver is soft, hitting on hard object will still leave a mark.

Yes, agree, my wife is like the op lady who doesn't really look after her phone well, she drops it, throws it, forgets where she left it all the time, they are just normal people using their phone. We all know putting One with coins, keys will damage it, and I think that will be all.
However, like I did to my wife's phone, I would suggest simply getting a good tpu case, then you are good to abuse the phone.

I think you'll find it's made of an anodised aluminium alloy, not silver, and is harder than silver.
I think there is little doubt at this point that the black finish isn't as well suited to standing up to the rigours of daily as the silver version. Paul Obrien's black one got scuffed up without being dropped on hard surfaces quite quickly, and lord knows I will trust his experience more than most of the forumers here.

Well, I wouldn't just conclude on that, because as a black One owner, my One is holding up quite well, and as I said, I don't baby my phone anymore, but will still take good care of it.
I think it's in the end down to personal preference, one thing we cannot argue is that aluminum is soft and it will get marks if you don't look after it, see iPhone 5 as a living example, so when it gets scratched, the underlying silver colour will be more noticeable on black phone than on a silver phone, so black owners naturally take the risk. However, a simple permanent black marker will do a perfect job of covering those marks.
Both silver and black share the same coating, anodized aluminum, so in terms of vulnerability of scratching, they are the same, only difference is noticeability (is it a word? Well you get my point.)

I am correcting myself here, in terms of the back of the phone, both black and silver have anodized aluminum but the chambered edge does not. It may just be painted in black on black One and exposed natural silver on silver One. So yes, the chambered edge if scratched on black One may look nasty. But again, only if you don't take good care of your phone.

Don't put your phone in a purse. Simple as that. God knows what's in there. There could be a whole sandy beach at the bottom.
Is it just me or does that look like a black HTC One dummy unit and not a real phone? The black dummy units don't have actual holes cut for the speaker grills, just little faded paint dots, which is what that looks like. I would think the speaker holes would look a lot darker in the pictures if they were actually holes. The dummy units have way crappier build quality so that would totally invalidate the findings.

Hi,
i'm going to receive my second Nexus 4, this time white. I'd like to know if the "rubbered" frame of the White model tends to get dirty with the use, or if it remains immaculate even after a long time.
because I have to decide whether to keep the black one and give the white to my girlfiend or viceversa.. she has the habit to keep the phone with a cover or a bumper, so no problem if I leave she the White one, but not if i keep it for me: I like it naked, and i'm afraid to get it dirty, and the "rubber" is very difficult to clean....
thanks
PS: sorry for my english..

If i remember correctly, the white Nexus 4 is not made from "rubberized" plastic but from normal hard plastic material.
So in theory, it shouldn't get that much dirty!

So, before Verizon came out with their version, I went to T-Mobile in the mall and didn't think the faux leather was as bad as everyone was saying. Now, I get my white Note 3, and it's nothing close to even faux leather. It's hard plastic. Just like the S4 but with a different texture.

So weird. How can you say it has a faux leather back but not have that available for all the colors?
It's always been known it's a plastic back that "looks" like leather. The fake stitching and imprints that's exactly what it is. The black phone has a different feel. But my white Note 3 certainly has a plastic back that fits the description of a faux leather look, exactly how it is advertized with this phone.

they both come with the faux leather "look"... but the black seems more flexible and matte finished so it feels a bit better in the hand... I messed with both of them and when you take the covers off the white seems .. stiffer maybe? and finished more shiny smooth so it feels more plasticky. .. but they're both definitely just plastic like everyone's been saying all along

Oh. I mean I hear ya I guess, but don't make it at all? Not sure I follow. You could always pickup the black back, or a case. It's not like they advertised it as "The Galaxy Note 3 have a faux leather back cover. Both the black and white model look and feel EXACTLY alike!". Obviously in production, the color of the plastic (of the molecular makeup? I'm no scientist...) causes the actual feel to be different between white and black.
Personally I like the look MUCH better than the crap/cheap plastic look of every Samsung device before it.

Yes, obviously they couldn't make the faux leather in white for some reason. I assumed that the Verizon branding on the back effected the material. The other carriers didn't do that, right?

I think your missing the fact they they DID make the faux leather in white....
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faux
While the black has a "better" (some will just say different) feel, the backs of the phones were meant to LOOK like leather. Not feel like it. So yes, on every carrier, both black and white versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 have faux leather backs.

You do agree that they are definitely made of different materials, right?
The white doesn't feel the same because they're 2 different types of plastic.
Why didn't Samsung make them with the same materials?
When you think faux leather, you think the black backing, right?
They're completely different!
I think samsung did this on purpose, reason being, if they used the "soft" type material on the white, it'd be more prone to staining in jeans (like htc). The plastic is seems like it'd be easier to wipe clean with a wet or damp rag rather than it have the soft feel like the black.
Botha re plastic, just a slight difference in feel.
HTC staining with soft feel white backing.

Agreed.
Guys I'm really confused between GRAPHITE AND ALUMINUM. I love both the colors but ive heard some people saying that on graphite its much easier to see the scratches and fingerprints all over it. In aluminum people say it'll hide the scratches and fingerprints...... But then the chamfered edges on aluminum is shiny similar to what iPhone 5 series had and after sometime those edges start to look ugly and scratches can be seen easily on those edges, as I have already used iPhone 5 white variant.
Now I'm all confused whether which color should i choose...
What you guys think, pls share your opinions and mention the reasons as well.
get graphite.

Aluminum is my least favorite in picture but super sexy in person.
I got the Aluminum, looks the best. Black shows fingerprints and is an old look, everyone has had a black phone before.
But what about the edges in silver variant which might turn ugly due to scratches after some use?
Pick the color you really want and don't worry about it. You are better off spending time worrying about the phone bending than having scratches.

I am waiting to have the Silver version delivered... I think that it's a matter of whether you would like to see the rear "visor" or not. If it's a feature you like, get the alu, otherwise the black one tends to hide it, but makes the phone a bit less unique.
Owning a black HTC One M7, its anodized aluminum surface has now small chips and scratches which are very visible due to the color contrast with the body. By the way, the chamfered edges look like they are the element least prone to scratches
If you want premium go for gold

Graphite here. Using a case anyway, rhino bumper. Not a single scratch, bending is an issue if you sit on your phone or charge it to the point it's going to explode.
Colour choice is 6 of one and half a dozen of the other, its soley down to the end user.
Do you see fingerprints on its back on daily basis? Does it look oily? How often do you have to rub the back to make it look clean?

Batteries swell when they're overcharged. I've seen a mechanics diagnostic kit actually break the device, the device split almost in half as the battery had more than tripled in size.
I know it's not supposed to happen but believe me it can.
