I know this sounds like a strange question. But does Evernote come installed with the regular (non-google) version of the LG G Pad 8.3? I have a problem with that app interfering with another app of mine. And if it comes pre-installed, you can't delete it. I know if you root the tablet, you can probably disable it but I just want to know for now if it comes pre-installed. Thanks!
No. It doesn't.

What bloat apps are you all freezing? I see a few I could stand to be rid of... do we have an idea which ones would be safe from the older transformers?

Ive rooted my TF300 and used Root Explorer to move the following out of the /system/app directory...
Asus Reader.apk
Books.apk
Kindle-OEM.apk
MyZine.apk
PixWe.apk
PlusOne.apk
PRAndroid.apk
Vibe_CN.apk
ZinoReader.apk
Have had zero FC or system issues since.
Going to dig a little deeper today and see what other useless apps I can remove.
As a tip, never delete the apk. Just move it to a "bloat" folder on your SD card. This will disable the app but allow you to restore it if you move something you shouldnt.
What about freezing/removing the stock launcher? Anyone else notice the warning after downloading an app that says the screen is full? My apex screen is barren, i tjink stock is harshing on my vibe.

Ya I noticed that warning and noticed it on my phones running ICS too. It still puts a shortcut there tho so I don't know what to make of it.
In Google Playstore settings, uncheck the box that says auto-add widgets for new apps.

I froze the stock launcher after I made my third party launcher the default one.

I tried to freeze maps but after I did, I kept getting a force close/error that maps wasn't working. Another app must be calling on maps or something, anyone know how to get rid of it without this problem?

No need to freeze or uninstall maps.
Yes it may be running, but unless you are signed into latitude (possibly with or without you knowing you are)...its only using memory allocation and will have little or no effect on the battery.
You are in for never ending FC if you keep it froze or uninstalled.

Hello. I got my hands on one of these tablets yesterday and I really love it. However I have a galaxy nexus as well. When I'm using my tablet and I get a text message, I would like to respond from my tablet. The blackberry platform does this with their blackberry bridge. Is there something like this that would work with android? Or would I have to replace the stock messaging application with some third party cloud messaging app? Thank you

Try cloud sms...I've been following its development here on xda. It's in the play store for 99 cents you install it on both devices, then you can use your stock messaging app on your phone just like normal. You use the cloud sms app on your tab and all messages will sync. It works perfectly and sounds like it does exactly what you're looking for.

I've used air droid to do this, but its not native (you connect using the browser). I'm sure there's some third party app out there to do it.
Tabletsms/desksms by koush is fantastic. I've been using it for a couple months now and I love it

Mighty Text is working on one, I believe. They have an extension for the chrome browser on your PC, which I use often. So hopefully it will get done for the tablets. But you can still use it through a browser on the tablet.
Tablet talk seems pretty good. You can use it over WiFi or directly with bluetooth.
I am using tablet talk. It lets you answer phone calls, too. I have my N7 mounted in my car to play podcasts. It & my GNex are bluetooth-connected to the car's head unit. When the phone rings the caller ID info comes up on my N7 & I can answer it. It also does texts, too. I don't do that while driving
I found an app called dinamotxt that seems to be working. Sketchy at times, I think I will purchase tablet talk, mainly because I have Bluetooth everywhere, and I don't necessarily have WiFi. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions

I unboxed a factory fresh TF300T, ran the OTA update to 10.4.2.18 and love this thing dearly except for...
...the fact that there is no working mic in audio on any app (Skype, GoogleTalk, Google Voice search and Google now) EXCEPT for the Asus-provided voice recorder and Camera apps! I know the mic works, but any app that didn't come with the stock rom can't use it. Any one else experience this with stock 10.4.2.18 or any other build?

Can anyone else check Skype, Google Talk or voice search to confirm/test that this is problem isn't just my device/rom?
Thanks in advance.
Skype is working fine for me - stock, rooted 10.4.2.18

Download an app like z devicetest and test the mic that way. If it fails, looks like you got a defective unit.

I did, and it's totally hit and miss. Z device testing fails, but I CAN record audio with some apps (Smart Tools' db meter registers input).
I'm wondering if I should wipe/root/rom it up, since this is stock and if the mic works at all with some apps and not others it's probably software, not hardware causing the issue. What do you think, void the warranty and try flashing a custom rom or RMA it?
Thanks for the help!
I'm new to tablets and I'm sweating out a decision between the Note 8.0 and the LG G Pad 8.3. I'd like to get some feedback on the ROMs available for the tablet. Mainly, I'd like to know if all the S-pen and multi window functions work as well as they do in the stock ROM. Also, one feature I really like in the G Pad is the Q-pair. It syncs with your phone via bluetooth and lets you reply to texts or see incoming calls. Is there anything like this on the Note or in any of the ROMs available? Thanks in advance.
You can do the pairing with any tab and phone to text and make calls with apps like tabletalk

Stock Quick Remote app has limited device suport and no learning like an app from LG g2.... Any way to use QRemote from g2 or other application with support of G Pad IR Blaster? Thnx in advance!

Me too! Would love to see the G2's quick remote app ported over for the GPad :\
Someone please!
I spent hours looking for an app that will control my set top box.
Found nothing.
Why did LG give us such a lame app when the G2 has a wonderful one?
Is there a possibility that we can find the aformentioned .apk and install it (even though something tells me that it will not be such an easy task).

I believe the GPad only has an IR Blaster, not a receiver as well. Because of this the device is not capable of learning.
For me the only added value the G2 app will give is for the extra devices, as I have a couple of LG A/Cs in my living room.
Would love to see if we can do this. Picked up this beast yesterday and the remote app was my only complaint. Having a g2 makes it better, but would be awesome to have the same app on both

It sounds like a hardware limitation on the g pad. Maybe if you guys wrote LG about it they could add it tto the next g pad. I only have a Samsung phone so I have not played with the g2.
