What do you think of the galaxy s3
My opinion: only a better camera and processor than the GN.... so its a ****tty ugly phone.. this time you FAILED samsung!!!!!

I'm totally with you man!!!
I mean, samsung created the galaxy nexus! The most beatiful phone i have ever seen... then they make a s3? Most ugle phone i have ever seen!!!
Then the camera: same as the s2, so basicly the only thing bettee is the processor and a ugliee design...

I also think the GSIII is disgusting. I'm getting the Sprint Galaxy Nexus once this semester is over but I'm not a fan of the Galaxy Nexus' look or build quality either. I wish HTC would make the Nexus line. I loved my Nexus One.
I think they kinda dropped the ball on this one. Sure it has great specs and all but the design just turns me off, it looks too wide, and it reminds me of an egg. My eyes are set on the GNex still, same display, direct AOSP support, and one of the most beautiful designs of any smartphone. Maybe my opinion of it will change as time goes on but for right now it doesn't interest me much. Oh and Samsungs whole "inspired by nature" talk was so cheesy lol

samsung seriously delivered on the gs3, but with just a few critical errors
1. pentile screen.
IMO, idc if its pentile/non-pentile, as the 720p screen is more than enough, but a lot of people seem to think otherwise.
2. plastic finger-print magnet glossy casing does NOT looks premium.
3. back design.
4. 8mp camera. yea, megapixels arent everything, but a 12mp camera would have been MUCH better for marketing, as well as impressing more people on first glance
everything else if GALAXIES better then what the competitors offer.
still pleased with the s3
Demo was a joke, which completely sums it up with this device: a simple joke, that isn't even funny. Camera has pink hue, ****ty "S" branded gimmicks, plastic build, hardware buttons, 4x4 grid on 4.8" screen (hilarious gap), pentile display.
Lol haters. The gs3 is the biiizzisssss. Open up eyes dummys. Plus when is hits here it will most likely have a slight makeover.

btw adding to my previous comment:
what i like most about the gs3 is:
1. fast camera (rate of 3.3shots/second)
2. popup play
3. all the gesture functions
4. front design
5. camera face detection
6. smart stay
7. exynos quad
8. wireless charging
9. screen is 0.01ms response speed
10. 2100mah battery
the only reason you guys are dissapointed is the pentile, plastic, and placement of camera/speaker, but not looking at all the new features which honestly makes it much better then the one x.

But I'm still getting the next iPhone. The iphone 4 came out last year and its still better than most androids. If not all except for the galaxy nexus. But come on they do it right and its always the phone to beat.
But wow 4 cores.

Complete dissapointment, were still waiting for full support for dual cores. And Samsung decided to put a quad core exynos, when the dual was amazing. Also when is Samsung going to get the memo, not body wants cheap plastic maybe polycarbonate or something to that effect but HTC and Apple seem to be the only, ones who know how to build a sturdy phone. Maybe Sony and.Nokia aswell

Not a big surprise that this doesn't appeal to Nexus users. I'm not a fan either. That being said everything about that phone says "I'm for the masses" and the gnex, not so much. I think Samsung wanted to make a user friendly phone like the iphone. Steal away some customers from the crapple crowd. To be honest, this looks like it will grab some of those customers. We are not those customers. What I did find funny reading some blogs today was that people were complaining about it having Touchwiz on it. I hope no one here actually thought it wouldn't have that on it. The galaxy s has always been a phone for the masses and this falls right in line with that marketing strategy. Throw a ton of user friendly apps, that will all be available to us soon, make it bright and shiny, and have it come in some groovy colors, and bingo. Not to mention a nice size screen, not to big, not to small. Add to that all the cool kids are using Android now and people are becoming sick of the same old iphone year after year. This is a good play for Samsung. May look like garbage to a lot of us but it will sell very well to masses. Lastly I don't see us getting the quad here in the states. They have borked almost all the quads so far because of the radios here in the US so if you are saving your pennies for one of these because of the quad, don't count on it.

It's so ugly, I can't believe that the editor form Cnet made a comparison with HTC One X and iPhone 4S. And this editor told us S3 got so attractive design. It's the best phone till now. Holy ****! Galaxy S3 totally can be define as a crap because of its ugly home button and back and the shape and the screen.
So it's here... dun dun DUN! I've put a poll up.

Yea for me, it's all about the larger screen and S-Pen. I'll probably only swich once the Note 2 comes out, and even then, that's just a maybe.
S3 looks good and is packed with good hardware by not worth upgrading from Note
The only problem I have with the S3 is the screen. It was never meant to be 5.5 though otherwise it would have been called Note II rather, my next phone that is! Can't go even an inch smaller now..

I rather keep my note for the next gen with better display.

Definitely - the S3 won't be my next phone, but please let's have a 64GB version with microsd expansion in the next Note. Native ability to use filesystems that can support files bigger than 4GB would be a big plus too, I want to be able to take my blu-ray rips with me.
I don't like it's shape, it looks a bit girly. Usually I am an early adopter of all the newest phones but after the Note, I won't go for anything less. S pen for me has also become an essential criteria, can't wait for premium suite apps!
I really dont like the design...the rest is fine. This whole "nature" thing is a bit misplaced i guess...big galaxy event, nebulaes etc. in the announcements - and the phone looks like a pebble...
I was afraid of this to be honest. The specifications are not that appealing for current owners of Note.
I think as far as design is concerned, its not any worse or better than what we are used to from Samsung. I just think that HTC caught everyone by surprise this time around with overall design aspect of their One series. Including Samsung.
But I do like the other non performance related improvement that SGS3 brings like wireless charging and streaming accessories (I know DLNA is there but not everyone is setup for that ). I also like the slight changes made to the UI. But I guess the real bang would come with Note 2 in the future. Its slightly underwhelming upgrade for current Note users. I honestly did not expect non RGB panel on flagship even with such high PPI count. It just feels like Samsung took little conservative approach with SGS3. Its still a beast of a phone, but it wont be carrying the WOW factor that SGS2 and Note had.
See the attached file
Nice phone. If the Note didn't exist, I would be all over it.
Don't care for the shape.
Specs wise it is nice, but not nearly enough to tempt me away from the note.

haha he might be on crack but let him have his opinion S2 made me a big fan of samsung hardware and after that moving on to note I really cannot imagine going back to s2 in my wildest dreams.. kinda sad actually how the evolution of smartphones spoils our tastes at such fast rate.. i still reminisce about my old 8850 which cost more than these suckers and was the sexiest thing that time but having used the note for few weeks and seeing the launch of s3 I am very happy that I wont have urges to upgrade anytime soon..With all the big bucks samsung earned since Q1 2011 I really had higher expectations for s3 design and build material.. what was all hype about being waterproof, rado material blah blah its quite disappointing but atleast I know now I made the best choice to get note instead.. Maybe next year if samsung does learn about the blunder they made with 2012 unpacked event we might see more innovative products as the note for 2013 lineup.. keeping fingers crossed!
ps. I always hated apple products not because everyone loves them but I just have better experiences with other products such as creative for mp3, alienware of laptop, samsung for phones but I can never bash on their product designs because thats only thing i think they should be acknowledged for.. having said that i must say as of today for design, id lean more towards the htc one X having held it when buying my note it really is of great build quality.. If HTC can improve their vision and focus on design and quality, then samsung should really be inspired to innovate not immitate and instead of being immature going after apple fanboys, focus more on better QC as i thinkg its one of their biggest problems due to so many manufacturing facilities.. everyone is entitled to their preferences, one should not look to be better by insulting others but instead win them over genuinely by developing superior products and through positive WOM.. Next to watch out for would be NOTE2!!
Intersting article. May be this is why it's so ugly?

Im switching from my iphone 4 to a galaxy s 3. There are so many advantages to switching. Anyone else want to express their relief about letting go of the apple ecosystem!
I switched from the iPhone 4S to the International S3. Had the 4S since release date. Got the S3 a few days ago. Had been using an iPhone since 2007 when the first was released.
There are pros and cons to each system. I think both are great.
Android is a more open system. I definitely like that.
I have both iPhone 4s, Note, HTC One X, SG3 and I only keep the iPhone and the SG3. Both systems is good. The Note when upgrade to ICS sucks. HTC One X battery sucks as well. SG3 by far has the best battery which can let me use it for whole day. iPhone is still my main business phone and the SG3 is for fun and development. My company developed Android TV box and ODM for people to put their band on it.

I suggest "Isyncr" from the google play store.
Great great way to transfer iTunes collection.
It is playlist based but a lot more reliable than Double Twist in my experience.
Transfer iphone to S3
Hi, I transferred from Nokia to Iphone when the first iphone appeared and have been with Apple ever since my last one being the 4S.
I wanted a larger screen though for browsing, watching films and reading books on holiday. I tried the note but found it too large so went for an S3.
I am really pleased with the move, the S3 is just as slick and fast, if not faster. Has much better battery life and a lovely large screen.
When I first got the S3 I tried via Kies to sync to my outlook files but it was rubbish so i started again and used the Transfer non-Samsung backup data option on the Kies main basic information page.
This located my last Iphone 4S backup and transfered my contacts with photos, calender, birthdays, notes, photos, videos and all my music that was on my phone. It worked brilliantly.
So I suggest anyone changing to backup their iphones and use Kies to do the transfer.

This is my personal ranking
1. GS3
2. GS2
3. iPhone 4s/Xperia S - tie
4. -
5. HTC One X
I have an iPad but I knew from the moment I bought it I had to use non-Apple services whenever possible so as not to get locked in. I use Kindle rather than iBooks, my Google account and Dropbox rather than iCloud. Just makes things easier to switch later
After many years using iPhone, I'm now using S3 and I'm loving it.
I also bought an iPad in case I miss iOS somehow. The only thing I miss is an app like Infolock or IntelliScreen, mainly to change the clock style and be able to make calls directly from lockscreen. I tried MagicLocker, LockerScreen 7 and WidgetLocker, but none of those is works flawless. If you have a password protected lockscreen those apps won't work very well.
I think the combination of an iOS tablet and an Android smartphone is perfect, at least for me.
I switched from the 4s to the skyrocket about two months ago.
I wasn't sure if I liked it more until I tried the skyics ROM. Once I found this ROM I don't think I will ever go back!

The iPhone andnApple stuff is a very tight and reliable Eco system. For example my wife has a 4S, she took a bunch of pictures today, I'm on my iPad right now and the Photostream has all her pictures on my iPad right now for me to look at.
I took pictures on my GS3 and I have them auto upload to Dropbox, but then I have to sync them to iPhoto.
The GS3 is the best Android phone I have used, but like my buddy and I were talking about, the GS3 is the best Android phone of the moment. It seems that Andoid phones come and go, but the iPhone stays the same and is a pretty dran good device. The problem is the OS is too easy and boring for anyone that comes on this site. The screen is small but both will be updated in the coming months.
Right now I am enjoying the great battery life and niceness of my International GS3, but I am missing my iPhone too.

I am also using the same combination and it works fine for me. I also came from 4S. This is not my first Android phone though. I have used HTC desire, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Galaxy S2, and Samsung Nexus. My wife has HTC one x at the moment. I have also own every single iPhone since original. I don't know what the fuss is all about and why one of them (apple and android) has to be bad. Both are good for me however the small screen of iPhone is not good enough to play games who has on screen controls.

I am also switching from the iphone 4 whenever my new s3 come to BB. I can't wait! I'm so tired of this little screen on my iphone and all the boring features.
I love my new iPad and I enjoyed the iPhone 4s. Keeping my GS3 though and will most likely sell my iPad once I find a windows 8 tablet that can effectively replace my laptop, desktop, and tablet. The pro version of the surface looks like it might just pull it off too. We shall see.
But I plan to purge myself of all Apple because I don't like the way they patent everything.
Will probably end up regretting selling the iPad once Kingdom Rush 2 comes out though. Haha

I don't necessarily agree with your last point since the iPhone 5 isn't even out yet lol... I HAVE seen what they are potentially offering though in iOS 6 and unless iPhone 5 is going to add a million bells and whistles to that I feel iOS/Apple truly are now lagging behind Android in innovation. Jelly Bean will be on the radar by that time too. And that could add even more awesomeness to Android.
Agree with an earlier comment too. iOS is far too boring for the kind of person that browses this site.

I think the note's size is a little much but if moving to the Nexus4 would mean going backwards as far as performance I wouldnt be happy with that either. I may just end up getting the Nexus4 on top lol.
I don't ownt he Note 2 or plan to buy one. Ever. But if I bought one, it would have been because I wanted a screen that size so I wouldn't trade it for the Nexus 4.
I don't think so...
I have AT&T Note ii and I have Nexus 4 16GB on the way. But I am buying Nexus 4 just to see how it is and then give it to my dad in India. There are multiple reasons for sticking with Note ii.
1) Removable MicroSD slot
2) Awesome Battery Life and Removable Battery
3) LTE Speeds (I use team viewer a lot to help my family and friends with their PCs and I am youtube junkie. Also s-pen helps a lot with team viewer and gotomypc apps.)
4) Every custom UI has its drawbacks and its positives. I feel like TouchWiz has improved a lottt and it has amazing new features which I use a lot on Note ii, like smart stay, smart rotation, smart alert, direct call, turn over to mute, palm swipe to capture screen shot and many more...
5) S-Pen is just amazing feature. I love to note down things immediately and also taking notes in the meeting. I love playing draw something too. :silly:
6) Big size and screen is negative for someone, but for me, I just love the big screen. It can be cumbersome to use it with one hand sometimes, but rest of the times while watching youtube videos and pictures and browsing, the experience is just stellar.
I have nexus 7 and I gotta tell you, for my own test, stock android doesn't cut it. I have to do many extra things to customize it. Though, it is just my opinion. Plenty of people love the stock android.
I dont know why people keep comparing them, ones a tablet that makes calls and ones a phone
I sold off my Note 2 to get the Nexus 4.
The size of the Note didn't bother me too much, I was still able to carry/bring it everywhere like a regular phone. The problems I had with it mostly laid with Touchwiz. I've only owned Nexus devices, I've had every single one of them (even if I only kept the Gnex for 6 months. **** verizon). I just really didn't like the looks of it, it's not visually appealing at all. Then we get to the s-pen. It certainly is a cool feature, but I'm no artist, I rarely need to edit spreadsheets on a mobile device. So it was mostly going unused for me. Plus the cost, I would rather pay half the price of the Note to have a device thats still quite high end. The $710 pricetag of the Note (with tax) really put a dent in my fun moneys.
My overall experience with the Note just solidified that I'll likely never own a Samsung cell phone, unless they make another Nexus.

Note II to a Nexus 4 would be a huge downgrade.
Problem with touchwiz? Unlock and install vanilla android on it and problem solved.
I could never give up my Note II the screen size is amazing, camera is amazing and there hasn't been any major issues that I have heard. I think the Nexus as amazing as it is isn't quite at the same level as the Note.

Can you actually do that?! If so, please point at the thread!!!
I wouldn't. The quality of Note 2 is significantly better, components used are better, internal design is better and what you get with Nexus 4 is a slightly faster CPU (which is slower after it throttles down) and official vanilla Android. I mean, it's a great phone for its price that I'm considering getting but it's not as good as the Note 2 overall. If you don't care about timely updates to official Android for the next 2 years or so as much as about hardware quality I'd keep the Note 2.
i have both. the nexus 4 is a solid phone but doesnt compare with the note 2. the note 2 is quicker ( regardless of benchmarks), samsung have done a top job with this version of touchwiz & the screen quality seems more vivid plus the additional size makes everything a pleasure:good:
Not really amused by the Nexus 4, I want a Note 2 now.
I have n4 would rather had note II but didnt have note II money. Nexus is fast. Its one the the best phones out and great price.
I don't want a phablet, I was happy to give up using a stylus once capacitive screens came out and there is no way in hell I'd pay $600 for an android device. N4 is an easy choice and if I already had the Note II I'd sell it, buy a N4 and have $300 ready for next year when the N5 comes out.
600 dollars for a big piece of touchwiz plastic. No thank you. N4 is good for me and then some.
Already have..... I took it back after using it for 10 days, got me 2 nexus and $89 back.
I've been using my Nexus for a day already and I don't miss the note.

Ok, a little background. Been moving phones like crazy in the last 4 years. Djeez XDA and big boy toys, you're all to blame
I now have a Nexus 5 32GB next to my Note 1 which I just have to flash roms (yes, I am that crazy)
To be honest I love the form factor of the Note and I am very disappointed in the Nexus 5. How can you make a phone that has a bad speaker to start with, a seriously bad video stabilization in my eyes, rattling buttons, hardware gps connection issues, yellowish display ....
Are there any people here that switched from a Nexus 5 to a Note 3 and do you want to share your opinion about it?
Or are there people that dislike the Note 3 after a while?

Software and hardware wise the note 3 is a clear winner in my eyes. Battery is alot better than the nexus which is expected due to the size I guess
I love the big screen both for size and quality. Also the advantage of having the memory card option for storage.
I think it is a good move, I am bit of an android/samsung fan boy but I reckon the facts speak for themselves regardless of opinion.

I made the switch from a nexus 5. After years with Android I was really hankering after a pure Android experience. I loved the Nexus 5 when I first got it but I have to admit I found vanilla android a bit boring after a while. Build quality was an issue too for me. Love the note 3. Battery life. Performance. Screen size. S pen, which I do use a lot. Touchwhiz is lookin old though, would really like it if we got the new look on the s5. Knowing Samsung like I do I'll be surprised if we do. Anytime this year anyway. And you see that takes us back to the Nexus 5. Updates! You choose which is more important to you.

I tried LG G2 and after few days I returned it because of bad quality of body, speaker and mic. Note is much more better.

Seems like exactly the same reasons why I would move to the Note 3.
Now that I modified my car radio so I can finally play music over Bluetooth so the 32GB - OS - APPS doesn't cut it anymore. Especially when travelling in remote countries.
I've never had an issue with my S1 S2 S3 or note 1 except for the GPS in the S1 which was a hardware contact design issue.
All my HTC devices have gone in for warranty with a lot of (insert not so nice word here). So no more HTC.
I thought going to the Nexus 5 was going to give me the joys of a vanilla latest rom but I am disappointed in the lack of stuff that google build into it and especially the top specs hardware which just don't seem to be top in the real world.
So probably will have to sell the N5 to fund the Note 3. .... now what will I tell my wife ... again. :silly:
I've had an S2, S3, S4, Nexus 4, Nexus 5, also iphone 4s and 5. I'm now on the note 3 and I can safely say I think it is the best of the bunch by far.
I know it is easy to say because I have the device but you can also see that I have experienced a number of recent devices. I had to buy my Mrs A note 3 when I got mine

That's what makes it dangerous I think
For the price you really can't beat the nexus 5. In almost all other aspects the Note 3 (I can only speak for the N9005 which I own) is the better phone.
I briefly switched over to the nexus 5 and did enjoy aspects of the vanilla software as well as the development scene. However after a few days I began to miss certain features of the Note 3 software and really missed the screen, pen and battery life. Speaker is much better too.

Agree nexus 5's are good for the price, Nexus phones generally nearly always are. However I wasn't happy with the speaker, screen, camera or build quality which has really put me off the nexus brand.
