G2 does not mount OTG SD Card reader - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I just got my LG G2 today. Already flashed the new ParanoidAndroid cause I wanted Android KitKat.
I wanted to connect my MSD-Card Reader to my phone, but it somehow simply does not appear in the file manager.
I tried different apps to mount the SD Card, like "Stick Mount" or "USB OTG Helper" but none of them seem to be able to mount my sd card
Most of all, I want to copy all my music and the games (especially big games like GTA) to the card cause 10gb simply aren't enough.
I'm using a SanDisk Ultra 64GB microSD Card.
Does anybody know what to do? Maybe I simply didn't find the right app!
Oh, and I could not find any solutions in the internet. Forgive me if there are any avaiable that I could not find.
Thanks in advance and merry christmas!

Does PA kernel support USB OTG?
(too busy to check by myself)

There's a Q&A section for questions and even better yet, there's a thread in the specifically for questions about PA.

Thanks for your answers.
So, I now flashed CyanogenMod and noticed the smartphone realizes there is a sd card connected. There's a message which says something like "The SD Card is being prepared". However, I cannot reach the folder. Can anybody help me?
P.S. What does PA mean?

Use this must repartition and reformat to fat32. Must use stock kernel. Using usb otg now. Custom kernels have issues.

Thanks, now I finally can save my stuff on the SD card.
But I have another question, and I don't really want to create a new thread.
So, my LG G2 only has 10GB for apps and games, which ain't enough. I wanna copy my apps to the SD card, especially the gameloft games and GTA.
I tried using GL to SD, APP2SD and other stuff but it didn't work, either because I'm too stupid or it is incompatible.
Can anybody help me? Thank you very very much!

SD mounting problem with Elite Series III

OK, so since I still can't post in the developer forum until I hit the magic number of 10 posts, I'm posting this here. I'm running into a problem with Koni's Elite Series III ROM with respect to mounting my SD card to my MacBook. With other ROMs (such as Calkulin's EViO), mounting is no problem. However, with Elite, when I set my phone to mount the SD card, the phone acts as if it's mounted (with apps that were moved to SD no longer active), but the MacBook doesn't show the mounted SD card, so I can't move files to the card. Would anyone know what may be causing this problem, whether it's due to something in the ROM build or a kernel conflict with the ROM? And if it's the latter, does switching to a new kernel fix the problem?

That problem shouldnt be rom specific sometimes macs don't want to play nice with our sd/evos. When I'm using a sense rom that's when it behaves funny(at times). It did the same thing to me on my MacBook pro while running myn 2.2; check out this forum its easy to post this rather than type it all from my phone.

Normally with a problem/question like this one its usually posted in the q&a section. If you post this in the DEVELOPMENT section and its not any development going down you will get attacked by wolves. Good luck

[Q] how using sdcard as internal memory ?

Hello,
i'm newbie.. i have a phone Htc..rooted..rom cm7.. and when i need more space in memory i use app2sd.. very simple..
So.. i've buy a iconia 500 16gb.. and with same idea i take a sdcard 32gb ..
I root.. i've thor 14.2 installed on my device and i try to use app2sd because i've try a lot of new apk lol... but .. not possible .. i don't have the option "move to sd" .. and app2sd say to me "sdcard" emulated...
What does it means ? there is a solution to use external sdcard like memory card ?
thanks a lot and sorry for my poor english
Fab
Simple answer. No.
There is an app called Link2sd in the market that will let you transfer apps to your sd card. It isn't an easy setup, but I managed to make it work. I've been using it for over a month and so far, even updating my games seems to go smoothly. Get a class 4 card at the very least or it isn't even worth the effort.
Also there is an app made to move Gameloft games to the sd card called "gl to sd". I can also confirm that this method works on the Iconia.
I haven't looked for any other solutions because these work so well for me. Note that I am using the mostly Stock 3.2 Rom that ezterry put together for us. And the stock kernel. I've no idea whether or not these will work with other configurations.
I may look around again since it's been a while, maybe something new has been released...

Probably cause the path to ex SD card is different on the 14.2.
I think it's because in honeycomb they call the internal storage /mnt/sdcard /mnt/external_SD is the actual sd card, and I have yet to find a way to put that to use for app data.

Can you go over how to setup link2sd to move install apps to sdcard?
Sent from my NexusHD2 using Tapatalk
I would also like to know how to set this up. link2sd requires 2 partitions on the SD card. is this true for the a500 or can we say one partition is the internal memory and the other partition is the sd card?

Ive been using GL TO SD app for a few days now and can confirm that it really works. the apps that requires lots of memory space would be games, so I'm pretty happy to be able to just put the game files on the ext sd. but i would love to know how you set up link2sd to make it work for other apps or maybe you can point us to the right direction. Thanks in advance for your help

Use of storage card by the S4

So from what I understand, apps cannot be installed to the storage card on the S4, correct? Is this fixable with root or maybe a custom ROM? Also, when recording video, will the S4 at least be able to write to the storage card when doing that? And for something like Orange Backup that can create nandroids while in Android, does anyone know if it will be able to write to the storage card? I assume that recoveries like TWRP and CW will have no issue recognizing the card and installing zips from them?
Yes, you can tell the camera to use the SD card. Not sure about Orange Backup, but I've got TWRP on my S4 and it gave me the option of using the SD card, which I took advantage of.
Can't answer your question about custom ROM's being able to give us the app storage transfer to SD option. That would be nice, though.

Not every app. Some give you the choice to use the SD card, some don't. And if the app does not give you the choice, it's hard to move the app/data to the SD card for most programs on this release of Android OS.
There are some threads on possible work arounds, but I've read mixed results on them so far.

[Q] Move Apps to EXT SD Card

Guys, I'm trying to move my games to my External SD card since I've got only 1gb left of my internal, but when I try to do it just from the Application Manager inside Settings, it only moves a few megabytes (X-Com Enemy Unknown has 3.7gb and moved to SD 60mb of it, awesome...)
I'm rooted, using X-Note 13, knox tripped 2 minutes after getting inside the house with the phone, I don't care about warranty or stuff, just... Could someone provide a fix, please? Tried App2SD, Link2SD and other apps like this, but it seems all they do is just move provide me with a shortcut to the same Application Manager from Settings that does the same useless thing. I didn't get a 64gb sd card to move 60mb out of 3.7gb from a game, seriously...
I think it depends on the programing of the game what can be moved and what not. Some programs can't be moved at all, but most of the big games I have, large portions of the data was moved to SD card during the install all by itself. If you just purchased the card, maybe reinstalling the game from start would give you better results, if that was an option? Also it seems to me you're using close to 25 GB of internal storage but you only mention one game, surely you must have many other large programs installed, what about them? There are some programs that can fool the system into "thinking" your external SD card is internal memory and your internal memory becomes external, but I don't have details ATM, also this could create problems if your SD card went bad.
And maybe you should take a hard look and see if you really need all those programs? If I didn't keep the tabs and clean all the junk, delete less frequently used programs etc. on regular basis, 96GB of memory wouldn't be enough either LOL.
I mentioned just one game as an example. I have quite a lot of space-hungry games, such as Bard's Tale, Modern Combat 4, Gangstar 4, Amazing SpiderMan2, etc...a total of around 40 games, mostly large games, and I have basically moved everything I could from Application Manager, yet it moved very very very little out of them. I tried deleting and reinstalling them, formatting my sd card, reflashing the rom from scratch with fresh sd, basically same thing every time. I got this phone to be able to have a mobile console with me that can also receive calls (boring job, games on phone help a lot), and now my sd seems so pointless
Internal Memory 26.3gb - 1.2gb free
Ext SD Card 59.0gb - 42.6gb free
bump, please?
The only app that worked for me is FolderMount [ROOT].
RinaldiMe, thanks a lot man, I just bought that app, testing it now, but from it's description, it should do exactly what I hope . It requires individual move of each app and folder, but it does the trick, thank you so very much
Will come back with replies as soon as I move 5-10 apps and test it out more
L.E.: Nope, bought the app, not just the free version, moved some files, still didn't work, apps just thought they didn't have their files and wanted to redownload...
Back to square one

I'm assuming your on kk bootloader and dunno if Mattiadjs int2extsd mod will work on 4.4, but I've been using his script meant for JB 4.3 that switches where the huge data and obb files are stored to your extsd instead of internal storage.
Try checking the galaxy s4 thread for the kk mod, I'll try looking too and post a link for ya. I know what your going thru as I have over 500+ apps/games and needed the 128gb SanDisk to store all my obb/data files along with pics and mp3 media.
Here's the link to the kk int2extsd mod

Any luck with that link I sent you, it's really easy to use as you just flash it in recovery. Your rom and kernel need to support init.d and it only works on TouchWiz roms.

myeah... tried that link, did what I expected... broken basically everything
Restoring a backup now, hoping it'll work. Basically it still saw my internal sd as internal sd, but it didn't see my card properly anymore (and yes i did check the exfat or fat32 version to use)
Are you tried App2sd?

Read op instructions. You have to put the same name folder both internal and external. Example: titanium backup. Both of internal and external must have the same name and caption.
Put all the titanium backup data in external titanium backup folder.
Leave titanium backup folder in internal empty.
Run the app, and select the correct path.

Any luck? this seems to be a generic android problem. can't believe no one figured out a solution yet. tried link2SD but it doesn't seem to see the full game size... detects something like 50 mb offf a 3 gb game...
assume u r note r rooted...install Xposed installer, then download a module obb on sd , enable it at the modules after downloading and installing, reboot and them move any game obb data from the note internal memory to the SD after creating folder Andriod/obb at sd
working at my note 9005 4.4.2 echoerom v19

[Q] Apps to SD in v500 kitkat

I just got my v500 and rooted/flashed kitkat (Mahdi Rom) and I was wondering if anyone figured out a way to get apps to SD on the device. I tried the kitkat SD fixer first. When that didn't work, I tried link2sd, which despite trying multiple different file systems, I could not get to work completely (wanted to move app as well as app data). Then I tried foldermount, which works for individual files/folders, but when I try to move android data/off it just tells me to use a sub-directory.
So I was just looking here to see if anyone has managed to do it and how.
Thanks
EDIT: reposted in Q&A as this is the wrong place. Sorry folks
You're trying to actually install apps on your sd card, not just save space on your internal? I don't know that any apps still give that ability? I too use folder mount to save space for my big game files but the app itself is still installed to the internal.
