Any idea? Stability + good battery?
I was using Legendary before, awesome battery life while at 1400Mhz all the time. It was amazing.
Anyone know which kernel I should use now?
YMMV but this was my battery today with the newest samurai kernel tanto

This being covered time and time again in many different posts over many different threads almost warrants no answer but ill give you one and here it is
try them all flash one per day till you find one that works for you the way you like it everyone uses their phone differently so no matter what you will get different results than i do or the next person that post on this
It's really up to you, try them out and see what you like the best. I've tried all 3 kernels currently out right now and they all work pretty good. The two I usually stick with are shadow kernel and the samurai kernel. Shadow kernel is nice and makes everything feel real snappy. You can overclock to 1400 mHz and the battery life for me is good. The newest shadow, tanto, overclocks to 1500 mHz and works with voodoo control. Haven't gotten the chance to really test battery since it just came out but so far it runs pretty good. Just test both of them out, you can always flash over another kernel.

Bad question....like what's the best ROM. Every phone and every user is different. You have to try them out to see what works best for you.

I am pretty much a noob here and know better than to ask any "what's the best....." question. I have read it dozens of times that your phone and your use is different. Might as well ask us how you should dress too.

Also close to stock kernels like aprosamurai's. He likes to keep his stockish with a few tweaks and some new fixes. Just my opinion of what works best on my phone. Others like earthbound's are too tweaked for me but his is really fast and bleeding edge. Bbelos's are also good.

I'm using shadow now and have used apro's too and they both worked great. You need to experiment with them, and you're going to have to tweak to get better battery life. I had several trying to constantly run and none of them were things I use a lot so they had to go. If I wanted super battery life I would have bought a flip phone and not a micromini laptop, and I wouldn't have such a joyful device to tinker with.

Stock is always going to be the best for wanting nothing but the simplicity.
Put it like this when i buy a car, i put bigger tires on my car for grip, and better handling. But i know i will loose some gas mileage but not alot.
I'll put a turbo and some internals into my engine to gain in power but will loose gas.
But if we can put bigger tires and a bigger turbo but still have the same gas results as stock, Then why not do it?
We all benefit in one area and thats why custom kernels are there for those who want options that stock doesn't provide.
Stock= Base Model
Custom = Fully Loaded
Simple as that. So everyone should try different kernels and then reply not saying oh this is the best. But say IMO i prefer this over that simply because of these reasons. Everyone will want a specific kernel because one may like different things about the different kernels

If you want to keep close to stock: aprosamurai's.
If you want to live on the bleeding edge: earthbound's
I prefer stock, though I may give earthbound's another try now that he made some updates
I'm looking for a ROM that is mostly stock + optimizations. I'm not interested in the other apps and tools that other ROM's install. Can anyone recommend one for me?
Thanks.
RasbeanJelly has all the criteria you're looking for.
This is like the third "best ROM" thread I see today. Do you people even bother reading before posting?

I can't speak for or against Rasbeanjelly but what I can say is that it's not definitely the best ROM since that's a completely subjective question (which is why the quoted post is worded as saying it fits criteria, not that it's the best).
@op Threads like this are pointless because you can receive multiple different replies and the only way to decide for yourself would be to try them all out anyway so the entire thread would be redundant. Not only this, but it's offensive to devs to say that someone else's ROM is better than theirs.
EDIT: Well it seems my point about different replies has been proven by the two above posts.
Rasbean both variations vanilla or normal, or SaberMod currently one of the fastest if not fastest roms around.
But just try them out and see what works best for you plenty of good roms about.

Hey guys, I'm on stock 4.1.2 and it's running well. But I was wondering, now that the bootloader is unlocked (or just in general) is there a way to overclock my RAZR on the stock ROM?
The phone is fast but with the great battery life I wouldn't mind some extra horsepower throughout the day.
Thanks in advance

i have not unlocked my bootloader yet, i dont see a reason to atm.. but with root, there is an app called pimp my rom, its the best i have seen, every option you can think of, even resolution tweaks..

Sick app, i saw the governor tweaks but i didn't see a straight up overclock?
Also, do you know any solid ways to tweak our resolution? How does that work, really? How can you get a better image out of your screen that way?
Thanks in advance

You need a kernel capable of overclocking to overclock, so keep an eye on kernel development. It's sure to pick up the Razr hd family now that we've unlocked the BL. Also, underclocking > overclocking. I've got an ATT HTC One X, which has the same processor and, thanks to the magic of project butter, I've underclocked as low as 1.3ghz (the lowest current kernels are capable of) without seeing any difference in performance. I do, however, get much better battery

Yeah I'd be really interested in underclocking. No idea what kernels are though. Other than that popcorn hat doesn't pop all the way. I need to learn.

A kernel is like the bridge between software and hardware, it's the Rosetta Stone from which the two communicate.
It affects processor clock speed, screen resolution, volume level, etc.
i need roms
Make some.

Most likely because it's a ***** to root MDL or developers just not interested in making ROMs for this phone. Hey you can always make one
I love the 90s. Good times.
Sigh....
Maybe because the phone has only been out for 3 weeks?

If you want your phone to look custom you could always install a launcher like Apex or Go. Then while you're busy looking at the shiny stuff hopefully you won't notice the devs sneaking in the back door and will let them do their thing on their own time.

Don't worry same thing happened to the note 2. They will come!
Ya it didn't take long for MDL to get rooted. Wasn't much of a hicup.
As to why more rom aren't out yet... It's early and to be honest there not many Devs who jumped on to the S4 wagon. Just a hand full really. Its going to be a while before we see a lot of options.
Screenshot of rooted S4 with apex. Nice clean look. I'm waiting on Synergy myself.

I recommend giving Buzz Launcher a try. You might have to invest a little more time setting it up than most other launchers but its definitely by far allows for the most customization.
I have permission to port FoxHound from the International forums to our phone just like we did for X note.
I am currently working on my own MJ5 based rom, but could put this together if there is enough interest.
Let me know what the community wants

Up to you, it's your time you're investing. It looks like if you run aosp theme on xnote they even look the same. I think maybe xnote actually has more features with xnote control. Let the people decide I suppose, but for me it wouldn't be worth the time plus watching 2 threads for basically the same rom.
I have decided not to release this rom. It is not stable on my device and if i need to concentrate efforts to make it run, i would rather put my energy towards my rom that i am building.
I do apologize for the false hope, but i refuse to put something out that does not work as expected. Anyways, thanks for everyones attention!
Brian
Could you please see about implementing phablet ui on one of your ROMs, with the status bar/nav bar combo on the bottom of the screen? I miss this from the og note and note 2 more than anything else. Thanks for all your work
