I have a Linksys WRT54G wifi router. The following are typical wifi speed test for me:
Mixed B & G: 19.55 Mbps (down) and 11.68 Mbps (up)
G only: 13.35 Mbps (down) and 1.41 Mbps (up)
B only: 4.63 Mbps (down) and 2.88 Mbps (up)
Why would the mixed radio output be faster than G only ouput? And why is B only output upstream faster than G only.
Is there any particular known and common reason for something like this? Thanks.
Are you using custom firmware like DD-WRT or tomato ?

I would recommend using this because I have a WRT54G v5 and use DD-WRT and it runs pretty good for it's age. It's probably at least a 5 year old router, getitng to be about 10 years old. It still runs pretty faithfully so that is why I use it, despite wanting N speeds. I usually can get about 12-13 Mbps down on my router using my 25Mb/s cable connection using a speed test so that's not bad I suppose.

I just got me evo yesterday and I am loving every minute of it. I was just wondering if maybe you guys think my download speeds are slow or on par. I am using non WiFi 4 bar 3g and getting dload speeds of less than .5 mbps. Is that normal? Anything I can do to improve my performance? Thanks

Unfortunately, Sprint's network seems to have taken a beating. Even worse, if you have rooted your phone, your PRI gets dropped to 1.34, which is a lot slower than 1.40 from what I've heard - I haven't noticed a difference in data speeds between the stock phone and what I have now but that may just be my area.
BTW, I am testing an average of 600-800 kbps using the Xtreme Labs Speedtest from the market and about 200 upload.
It seems to vary a lot for me. I get from .8 mps to 1.9 mps on average. On wifi though, I have a 1.5 mps connection, and that is usually about what I get.

I get 1.5mbps to 2.X+mbps on 3g easily.
I get around 1-2 mbps on 3G and 3ish on WiFi depending on signal. I have a wireless n router at work and I've seen over 7 mbps on that.

I average about 300 over 3g at home but 16 down and 9 up on wifi so it's a bit of a trade
I think the wifi on my G2 is acting up. I don't know if these are normal speeds for phone wifi, but here goes:
Right now I'm getting 24 Mbps when I'm about 30 feet away from my router and behind one wall. I'm on a linksys wireless N router. I can get you the model number if you need it.

I'm not quite understanding your question? Is your G2's wifi downlink 24mbps because that isn't slow at all.
24mbps is what's listed when I go into settings and tap on my network.

24Mbps to an N router 30ft away? Yeah that's really slow...
I had problems downloading files from my server on my LAN via wifi... it was ridiculously slow.
i am using Netgear N wireless router at 150mbps
but my phone shows link speed of 65mbps
any way to force the device to connect at 802.11N
Are any other devices connected to the router? If there is and there not N speed the router will only work at that speed unless it is dual band.
No only my phone is connected

any one? please
The Galaxy S uses a very restricted form of the 802.11N. In fact, it limits it to the 2.4GHz band and only a single 20MHz spatial stream.
Therefore, even on a router that supports N, 65Mbps is the best you are going to be able to get.
Ok i understand why my wifi is so bad too. Thanks

Why is my G2 getting 6 mbps on wifi while my mytouch 4G slide gets 19 mbps on the same wifi?
This seems weird because the G2 has hit 17+ mbps on other wifi anyone have any idea why its getting low speed compare to the slide?

I have noticed my G2 not getting a full 12mbps from my wifi router that is 15 feet away it only gets like 8mbps or so, whereas the computer right next to the phone gets the full 12mbps - so I know just what you are referring to!
I have not yet figured out the cause myself

Did your phones both connect to the same server when you performed the test? Perhaps that may have contributed to the difference in speed.

You misunderstood my post. Speedtest connects to a server usually hosted by a company somewhere nearby to perform the test, and the mobile app uses GPS to find the closest. Perhaps your phones connected to different servers for some reason. If you run a few more tests on both at different times of the day then you can rule it out.
Does anyone know if there's anyway to set, adjust the m.b.p.s. down & uploading speeds on this modem.I get 20 m.b.p.s. down & 10 up and when I do a speedtest on my sensation I barely get 7-9 m.b.p.s down & 1 up.any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance...

Wow... You can not control your speed only YOUR ISP can..
Unless he means Wi-Fi and if you have 54g 802.11g you will be maxed out. If wired is faster then just get a wireless router and disable the wireless on the modem.

Not Really... Wireless G maxes out at about 16-17 megs
I have a zyxel modem and its capable of download speeds of up to 20 down and 1 m/bits up.

Depending on the interference. My wireless router in an apartment only maxes at 10 or maybe 11 Mbps because of interference. It may be slow on Wi-Fi or it may not be.
