Welcome post!
Hi,
First of all welcome to this thread. I wanted to be the first poster in this Q&T thread, especially created and dedicated to my ROM thread, to show my appreciation to be able being a part of this.. I want to thank @Robbie P, and of course the entire Q&T Team (all of them are RC's), to make this possible.
Now a little word about the goal of this specific Q&T thread:
"goal of this specific thread is to clean up my development ROM thread with Off Topic posts. These kind of posts will ,with this especially created Q&T thread , redirected to this new Q&A/T thread. With Off Topic post we, @Robbie P and I, mean posts that are not directly ROM development related, e.g. I want to use ths ROM, how to install it or can I use this app with this ROM,etc. @Robbie P and I will be monitoring my ROM thread for these kind of posts and ask the poster kindly to move his post to this thread. We hope that after a certain amount of time this will be self-sustaining and becoming a normal thing to do.
Many thanks to @Robbie P and the entire Q&T team,
chautruongthinh

NativeSD
Hi chautruongthinh! Thank you for your development on HD2.
I tried to install your rom to NativeSD, but no luck, stuck on htc logo.
This is my configuration:
HD2 (EU)
Magldr 1.13
4EXT Recovery
1gb ext4
Tried installing it twice(with wipe and without) but always the same.

A stupid human being forced the moderators to shutdown your thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549926, which included a lot of effort, time, sweat an tears.
Keep head up, we are all watching the developments very closely and are looking forward for any new fix etc.
Please continue all your efforts and good work and don't get bothered by premature users, who are unable to
read the forum guidelines and understand the meanings of [Q/A] [DEV] (Testing) etc....there are alot of here @XDA!
Because the moderators are watching closely too NOW, i assume.

NativeSD install steps
First of all, chautruongthinh, thank you so much for such a wonderful job you'd accomplished.
That's a great Holiday Gift to beloved HD2 users
I've been using HD2 a couple of years but I've been always using NAND ROM flash.
However, I decided to use this superb ROM with NativeSD since I got some bad blocks
on my HD2 so I'm very much noob for the NativeSD ROM install.
I used macs18max's instruction of NativeSD setup at this thread but I'm stuck at not able to load the ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40395787#post40395787
My current HD2 setting is
T-Mobile USA version
SPL: 2.08.HSPL
RAIDO: 2.15.50.14
cLK: 1.5.2.1
Transcend microSD 16GB Class 10
Then, I could manage to load cLK and set partitioning table size as:
recovery: 9MB
boot: 5MB
misc: 1MB
system: 500MB
userdata: 412MB
sboot: 5MB
cache: 25MB
Next, I could partitioning SD card using “eXtended” TWRP v2.5.0.5,
and set to: ext4/2056MB
From TWRP & install ROM, I selected
Install Type: NativeSD
Default Connection TYpe: PPP
Active RAM page Swap: No
Wipe: Wipe Dalvik-Cache
>> Install seems completed without an error
Now, back to cLK, I set followings:
ADD sboot
HIDE MULTIBOOT
NativeSD boot
Set Default KERNEL: Set as sboot
Enable ExtROM
Then, I end up getting result in Main Screen as:
KERNEL @ boot [INVALID]
KERNEL @ sboot [INVALID]
>>> Obviously, I cannot boot the ROM.
Did I miss or mess any step above?
Also, do I need any NAND ROM pre-installed?
Thank you in advance!!
EDIT: I tried "Data2ext" (DataOnExt?) install option and now I can boot the ROM!!
Well, I still wonder why NativeSD is not working and how much speed difference
would be compare to Data2ext.

Hi chautruongthinh, the link in OP is to your Slimkat build
I haven't had a chance to try this rom yet hope to soon.

Hi,
I was also having trouble with ext4 on nand with data on ext.
Some roms seem to not work so well with ext4, have your tried using ext3?
Also another option would be to do a factory restore and cache wipe.
Hope it helps

Hi chautruongthinh,
your Q&A/T thread is added to post #4 of our Public thread (HTC Devices - HD2).
kindest regards, Kuzibri

Thanks for your work
I have a problem:
I have installed the rom on nand with data on ext with 400mb system partition, 1024mb ext3 and 512mb swap.
After many attempts i have succeeded to install it and have it running, but my HD2 displays that I have 0mb free in the internal memory,
which i am certain that isn't full, havin only 148Mb occupied by stock apps.
I am unable to install anything because of this bug.
Thank you

Hi mosquito
Nand with data on ext
You have to install the latest ROM and HSPL
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433
Then you have to wipe your nand with task 29 using this tool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090783
After the wipe, you should repartition it with either MAGLDR or CLK
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021837
or you can use the same HTC HD2 nand toolkit, youtube has several videos with tutorials.
You have to try what system size works for you, in the main thread you can find:
"Minimum required: 400MB
Recommended: 450~500MB"
You have to enter CWM Recovery
-MAGLDR: boot up your phone into magldr by pressing the power button and not releasing it until you see the menu, and navigate with your volume rockers to 8.AD Recovery and press the call button.
-CLK: boot up by pressing the power and home button at the same time and also not releasing it until you see the recovery menu.
Once in CWM recovery, you have to access mounts and storage and then mount USB storage.
Connect your phone to the PC.
You have to repartition your sd card with two or three primary partitions, depending on whether you would like swap or not.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916464
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2126363
You have to copy the downloaded custom ROMs .zip file and copy it to your FAT32 partition.
(the fat partition should be the first one in the partition table, or else windows will not recognize your phone)
Navigate back to the main menu of CWM recovery and select install zip from sdcard and choose zip from sdcard after that it's kind of straight forward, having to follow the instructions.
Nativesd and directSD
I recall that it's pretty much the same process, but you don't have to wipe your nand or partition your sdcard.
After entering CWM recovery, you have to same route to install it and the follow the on-screen instructions.
I hope that it was helpful,
if something is wrong, please correct me

[TUTORIAL] ClockWorkMod Recovery Navigation for Noobs

Hi
It just occurred to me that in all the instructions I've seen posted on using ClockWorkMod Recovery no-one has actually said how to navigate the menu system and when I was a noob it took me a little while to figure it out so I thought I would post here for others who may be experiencing the same.
Therefore I decided to write a tutorial on the subject.
===========================================================================================
First of all you need to get into ClockworkMod recovery. You do this by either pressing and holding the power button for 2 seconds and selecting recovery or press [vol +] + [vol -] + [home] + [power] together.
Once booted into ClockworkMod recovery this is what you see:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
You can navigate these options by using the Volume-Up and Volume-Down keys to highlight an option and the ‘Home’ key. Use the ‘Back’ key to go to the previous item.
Let’s review each of these options and their sub-menu options in detail.
reboot system now
This one is self-explanatory.
apply update from sdcard
This can be used for installation of any official or unofficial update, ROM, kernel, theme etc. that is in a zip format installable from recovery, as long as the file is named update.zip and it has been placed on the root of your SD card (i.e. not in any sub-folder). Selecting this option (and most of the options featured below) will bring up a rather annoying confirmation prompt but this will save you from a lot of trouble caused by accidental key presses!
This is what we are talking about:
wipe data/factory reset
This option wipes all user data on the device as well as cache. Doing this will leave your phone in the state it was in when you bought it or when any custom ROM was first installed. It will also wipe any sd-ext partition that you might have setup (more on this later).
wipe cache partition
Wipes the cache partition of the device to clear all the data accumulated there through use. This is often used before or after installing a new ROM, app, kernel or any similar mod via recovery.
install zip from sdcard
This option brings up the following sub-menu:
apply /sdcard/update.zip
This one is essentially the same as the ‘apply update from sdcard’ option of the main menu.
choose zip from sdcard
Lets you install any zip file (with any name) from any location on your SD card. The file can be for a ROM, a kernel, an application, a theme or any mod as long as it is in recovery-flashable zip format. Entering this option will bring up a screen that will allow you to browse your SD card for the zip file and select it for installation as in this screenshot:
toggle signature verification
Turns the signature verification on and off. When signature verification is on, you will not be able to install any custom ROMs that haven’t been signed by the developers (most custom ROMs aren’t signed). Switching it off skips the signature verification check and proceeds with the installation.
toggle script asserts
Simply turns script asserts on or off. If you don’t know what these are don’t change this option.
backup and restore
Undoubtedly one of the most important features provided by a custom recovery, the backup and restore feature – also known as Nandroid backup – allows you to take a snapshot of your phone’s entire internal memory including all partitions, and save it on the SD card. This what it looks like :
Backup
Takes a Nandroid backup, as explained above.
Restore
Lets you restore a previously taken backup. Entering this option presents you with a list of existing backups from the SD card that you can choose from for restoration.
Advanced Restore
This option is similar to the Restore option but once a backup has been selected to be restored, this option allows you to choose what parts of it to restore. You can choose to restore the boot, system, data, cache and sd-ext partitions, as shown here:
mounts and storage
Allows you to perform maintenance tasks on all the internal and external partitions of your android device
mount/unmount /system, /data, /cache, /sdcard or /sd-ext
These options let you toggle between mounting or unmounting these respective partitions. Most users don’t usually need to change these options.
format boot, system, data, cache, sdcard or sd-ext
These let you directly format any of these partitions. This should be used with extreme caution as formatting any of these partitions will result in losing all data on them, especially the boot and system partitions. Formatting the system partition will remove your ROM and leave your phone without an operating system while wiping the boot partition may brick your phone unless you restore or flash another one before rebooting your device.
mount USB storage
Lets you enable USB mass storage mode for your SD card right from recovery so that you can connect it to your computer via USB and transfer any files to/from it without having to leave recovery.
advanced
This section contains a few options most users will not require, although wiping Dalvik cache, for example, is usually required when flashing a new ROM. Here are the options from this section:
Reboot Recovery
Lets you directly reboot from recovery straight back into recovery. This is a useful option for certain back-to-back installations that require the device to at least boot once between them.
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Allows you to wipe the cache for the Dalvik virtual machine (the custom-built Java virtual machine for Android) as mentioned above
Wipe Battery Stats
Wipes the saved battery usage statistics and effectively recalibrates the battery - useful when your ‘phone isn’t showing correct battery levels.
Report Error
In case of errors, this feature can be used to save a log of recent ClockworkMod recovery operations on the SD card that you can later post in the forums if you have a problem.
Key Test
Lets you press any of the hardware keys to see if they are properly functioning, and to see their key codes.
Partition SD Card
This option provides an easy way to partition your SD card properly for use with ROMs that support data2ext (a very handy hack for low internal memory devices that enables an /sd-ext partition on the SD card to be used as the internal user data storage i.e. as the /data partition – see mizch’s post @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=999856&highlight=data2sd). Once this option is selected, you will be given options to choose the sizes for the /sd-ext partition as well as an optional /swap partition on the SD card, and will then automatically format it for you, leaving the remaining space for normal SD card usage. This option will wipe all data from your SD card so use it with caution!
Fix Permissions
Fixes the file permissions for the internal memory partitions back to default. This is very useful as a fix for several errors and Force Closes that start appearing after you or an application you installed and provided root access end up messing up the permissions of important files.
Hope this helps to save someone the same embarrassment I suffered trying to work things out

I can't flash the MIUI 2.2.10 rom to my HD2. Here are the steps I've taken:
1. Downloaded MAGLDR 1.13, Stock WinMo 6.5 rom from T-Mobiles website, downloaded all sort of HD2 recoveries, and lastly the MIUI rom
2. Flashed back to WinMo 6.5 through executing the "T-Mobile_HD2_MR_Software_3.14.531.1.exe" which is the stock rom through MAGLDR
3. Was not able to boot into MAGLDR WinMo 6.5 booted up. I held down the Power Button all the way through the boot, nothing. Tried several times, and then I flashed MAGLDR again. This gave me the error: "SD Kernel Open Failed" or something to that effect, but then it booted into MAGLDR. I decided to continue the next step of

Question: Which section you are original from, wm6, android nand, android sd or wp7? Installed wm6 rom correctly!
- Flash Stock WinMo 6.5 build
- Install HSP 2.08
- Task 29 & Radio 2.15.50...
- Install Magldr
- Partition your NAND (with HD2 toolkit or with the DAF.exe included in the recovery files)
- Boot into CWM and install zip from sd card
I missed any mention of HSPL in your previous comments, but the above stated should work just fine.
Remember that you have to rework your sd card, as far as I know WP7 does strange things to the sd card, so you would have to revert that as well.
Never used WP7 on my phone, but I don´t see why the above mentioned procedure shouldn´t work, the links to some of the files needed are in my signature.
When you do get into MAGLDR.
1.) Go to USB flasher and flash the CWM.. (Clockwork Recovery Mod) (you might want to right click DAF.exe and run as administrator)
2.) After reboot the phone should go into MAGLDR and thereafter scroll to option AD recovery and press "call"
3.) You have entered CWM. Now, format your SD card and then mount your SD card.
4.) Copy the MiUI zip file from computer to phone..
5.) Go to install Zip from sd card and install MIUI.
You're done..

I'm not being sarcastic or anything but ...
Why are you posting this in the development forum?
Why are you even posting it in the WP7 section while your question is totally concerning Android? (because you were on WM6.5)
Why were you trying to mount /system or /cache ? you don't have a rom installed yet !
From the CWM menu, select "install zip from sdcard" and choose your MIUI-rom.zip file and select yes, and now it will flash your rom. Make sure you have had the correct partitions set beforehand .

I posted because i need an answer ASAP and that was the forum with the most recent active posts. Sorry, I'm in the wrong on that one. I flashed the rom and everything, but then it just reboots back into CWM everytime, it won't boot into the room, more specifically, it boots into MAGLDR which automatically boots into CWM. I have HSPL 2.08 installed already. I haven't repartitioned anything. How do i do that?
sudeep6258 said:
When you do get into MAGLDR.
1.) Go to USB flasher and flash the CWM.. (Clockwork Recovery Mod) (you might want to right click DAF.exe and run as administrator)
2.) After reboot the phone should go into MAGLDR and thereafter scroll to option AD recovery and press "call"
3.) You have entered CWM. Now, format your SD card and then mount your SD card.
4.) Copy the MiUI zip file from computer to phone..
5.) Go to install Zip from sd card and install MIUI.
You're done..

I tried DAF.exe and it doesn't recognize my HD2, then gives me the error I mentioned in the OP, even after running as administrator.
I can't beleive that senior member act like tootal noob. What do you think that this forum is? Online support? Bump whenever you want and expect answer in a minute? Will you pay somebody for the answer? Let me remind you that people here DISCUSS about HTC HD2 Windows Phone 7 Development, so please delete your useless topic and go bother somebody else!
Maybe try unchecking allow USB connections from active sync..

I thought that after some of the things I did for this community, I might be able to get immediate help in my time of need. Do you mind pointing me to the nearest direction of "Bricked HD2 online support"? I already said I was in the wrong for posting the question here, but you fail to understand that without my phone, I can't do my job and support myself. Troll harder next time.

Guys, give the guy a break. He's already admitted that he was wrong.
Back on topic, I recommend using the HD2 toolkit by ksubedi (Thanks to him)
Just follow this guide written by me : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16528026&postcount=7 (Very short and straight-to-the-point with no blabber guide)
Modify step 8 with the rom you are to install as well as step 10 with the required partition size (can be obtained from the thread of your rom).
Good luck.

[Q] TWRP partition size

Hi,
i want to try TWRP to give my tired volume buttons a rest.
i currently have CyanogenMod 10 on nand+dataonext and some others on native-sd (they are not important)
CWM is in a 5M recovery partition.
first, is there a way to just increase the 5M recovery to install TWRP? i'm hoping yes, but i'm thinking no.
second, assuming no, what do i do to change the recovery size?
do i have to backup with CWM, then repartition, then install TWRP, then,
er.. can i recover the CWM backup with TWRP?
are they just different ways to use the same backup file or is there more to it?

Not necessarily doh, I use cLK for example
Since I don't use MAGLDR, I am not sure. But in MAGLDR, you can change the recovery size by editing the flash.cfg file through notepad and reflash. I don't know if this will remove the ROM in NAND or not.
And I think yes, you can restore your back up from CWM on TWRP, but again, I am not certain. You can backup your rom manually using apps in case it didn't work.

A CWM Recovery backup can be restored (using the same recovery software) after repartitioning the device.
So, you can create the backup with CWM, repartition with DAF.EXE, reinstall CWM, restore backup, flash twrp and make another backup. Whew!

@ny_limited: ok, thanks, thats a good plan as this is a 1-off conversion process (well, this week anyway )
and that means that the backups for cwm and twrp are different then.
but reading this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36246549
i will need to manually copy any SD build native-sd roms i have from /NativeSD/ and then replace them if they are later than the TWRP (full ext4) backup
(humming to myself "the more i find out, the less i know...")

A better plan would be to forget twrp for now. Backup everything, make the recovery partition 8-10 MB, restore everything.
Take a holiday.
The new twrp for hd2 in testing looks like will be able to read cwm backups - not ready yet.

Doh! again. and another better plan would have been to read this before messing around this morning
anyway, backed up, changed partition sizes, reinstalled, and twrp is ok
took a few goes though and didnt work until i did a task_29
at least i have the right size partition now when the new one arrives (fingers crossed that it is less than 10MB)
something a bit strange, i couldnt flash_image from adb though as it kept saying it can't find recovery partition, which was true, as df couldnt find it either???
i did an update of the recovery through... recovery, hmm, but it worked ok though
where is recovery mounted, or isnt it? the install script just does a cat of /proc/mtd without checking the actual size
EDIT: messages about unable to mount as "@hB", /dev/block/mmcbl10p1 and as auto mount - for some reason its not able to mount the ext4/native-sd...
if i have to manually backup the native-sd partition then i can do that without twrp
twrp uninstalled, back to cwm recovery

Incorrect Partition Sizing Fix
I partitioned my rom slot #1 wrong, I believe. I think I didn't make enough room for Applications. Since I have only 0.93GB left, I am assuming I made the Application area too small, although I have most things installed that I want installed. So, here's my question. If I do a nandroid backup of rom slot #1 and then create rom slot #2 with a larger Application area, can I then restore the slot #1 backup to slot #2 to resolve this issue? Below is a screen print of Storage for reference.
Thanks,
Marc

What do you mean by "slot #1" and "slot #2"?
And if we're talking about the HD2 here, then making a nandroid backup --> enlarging partitions --> restoring the backup, should give you the extra storage you want.

PLEASE make sure to thank the developer for the dedication to this ROM
Please do not clutter the Development thread with non development-related chatter
See post two for FAQ
FAQ
Q Why a special Q&T Thread for a specific ROM??
A The bigger a ROM development thread gets, the greater the chance that posts are being placed in this thread that are not related to the ROM development itself, e.g. problems with flashing, installation, bugs, things not working etc. However this is understandable, it's not according to the guidelines of XDA for Development sections. Therefore the main goals of the ROM specific Q&T threads is to avoid this cluttering of the original develpment thread with these OT posts by redirecting the posters to the ROM specific Q&T thread and also to relieve the developer from answering these post, so he can dedicate his time to developing.
Q How to move my post to the Q&A/T thread?
A Copy the text of your post in the dev's thread, got to the Q&A/T thread and paste it there. After having done that, go back to the dev's thread, edit your post and change the text into: moved to Q&A/T thread, preferably accompanied with a link to this thread.
Q When I'm asked to move my post to the Q#A/T thread, do I have to do that?
A When you're asked to move your post, there will always be given an explanation by the OP of the Q&A/T, e.g. your post is not development related (f.i. SD card problems, etc), so please be so kind to move your post. If you want to help the dev to keep his original thread as clean as possible from OT posts, then the answer is, of course, YES. Although we cannot force you to move your post, it's highly recommended to do so
Q Where can I download this ROM and How do I install?
A You can find the link to download and installation instructions HERE. Pay close attention to this post, everything required for a successful flash is listed right here. If you fail to follow the instructions or meet the requirements for installation, you could run into some problems.
Q What are the known issues with these ROM's?
A Right now there doesn’t appear to be any specific issues with this ROM.
Q How’s battery life?
A see this question asked repeatedly across all ROMS. Honestly there is no way to give you an answer based on a ROM. There are too many variables in question and results vary from user to user and device to device. Battery life is going to depend on age and condition of your battery, your use habits with your device, installed apps, tweaks, settings, etc...
Q How do I...
A Ask your questions and report your issues in this thread. You will receive a response and hopefully get you back up and running this ROM to it's fullest
Welcome post
Hi,
First of all welcome to this thread. I wanted to be the first poster in this Q&T thread, especially created and dedicated to my ROM thread, to show my appreciation to be able being a part of this.. I want to thank Kuzibri, and of course the entire Q&T Team (all of them are RC's), to make this possible.
Now a little word about the goal of this specific Q&T thread:
"goal of this specific thread is to clean up my development ROM thread with Off Topic posts. These kind of posts will ,with this especially created Q&T thread , redirected to this new Q&A/T thread. With Off Topic post we, Kuzibri and I, mean posts that are not directly ROM development related, e.g. I want to use ths ROM, how to install it or can I use this app with this ROM,etc. Kuzibri and I will be monitoring my ROM thread for these kind of posts and ask the poster kindly to move his post to this thread. We hope that after a certain amount of time this will be self-sustaining and becoming a normal thing to do.
Many thanks to Kuzibri and the entire Q&T team,

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION
What is Nand, Data2EXT or NativeSD?
Just a brief understanding of types of installation. During installation of rom has 3 options for setup. 1. NAND 2. DataOnExt 3. NativeSD
1. NAND. Installing everything (System and data) on Phone Memory. sd-ext(EXT4 partition) partition isn't used
2. DataOnEXT. Installing all system files on phone(NAND) and Installing all data files on sd-ext(EXT4 partition)
3. NativeSD. Installing everything(System and Data) on sd-ext(EXT4 partition)
Depending on this 3 type of installation we need to decide if we need a Ext4 partition, as Nand do not require SD-EXT, but data2ext and NativeSD reuire SD-ext partition
Main Steps in brief
A. HSPL
B. Latest Radio
C. Install Bootloader cLK or MAGLDR (Seperate instructions for cLK and MagLDR)
D. Selecting system size and Install Recovery Extended TWRP 2.5.0.5 (Seperate instructions for cLK and MagLDR)
E. Partition sdcard (only data2ext and NativeSD)
F. Install ROM.
G. NativeSD setup (Seperate instructions for cLK and MagLDR)
H. Default kernel and Mulitboot options (For NativeSD, Seperate instructions for cLK and MagLDR)
Step A & B - HSPL, Radio
Install HSPL and the latest radio (probably most of you have done this, if not, search in Xda)
(It is recommended to task29 before flashing bootloader, but not necessary)
Click to collapse
Step C - Flashing Bootloader
Two type of Bootloader available for cLK or MAGLDR
First lets go to pro's and cons
Benifit MAGLDR over cLK
*Supports RMNET which is very stable data connection
*Support booting of WP7
*Boot a second faster than cLK
*NativeSD boot kernel don't occupy any space in Nand(Phone memory)
Benifit cLK over Magldr
*Support charging when device is OFF
*Behaves more like native android device, supporting fastboot and booting into recovery using ROM
*You can change system size by editing in settings, unlike Magldr we need to flash bootloader again.
Installation
Decide which Bootloader you want to flash: cLK or Magldr
Download Bootloader.zip and extract the content to a folder
Press and Hold volume down key and press switch on HD2. You will be booted into HSPL showing serial. Plug in the USB. HSPL will display USB
Run "LeoAdvancedRUU.exe" as administrator
Select "Regualr RUU (Task28) - recommended for flashing NBH with OS section
Select NBH file the bootloader you want (Selecting clk.nbh will flash cLK bootloader or magldr will flash MagLDR bootloader)
Click "Next" (This will flash bootloader, wait for it to finish and let it reboot)
Click to collapse
Step D - Flashing recovery and setting system partition
Understang of partitions: The Phones ROM has been partition into the following: Misc, Recovery, boot, system, cache, and data
Misc 1MB, boot 5MB and cache 5MB sizes are the same for most of ROM unless specified.
Recovery partition size depend on the Recovery we flash (For TWRP it is 9MB )
ROM develeper usually specifies the size of ROM, example system=300MB so we need to adjust system partition size accordingly.
The remaining space will be assigned to data automatically.
If you are planning to use data2ext, make system size 380MB as data partition isn't used, we can utilize everything for system.
For CLKBoot into Mainmenu for bootloader by pressing and holding the back button when during boot.
Go to Settings>Resize partition and change size of system by adding and subracting values, commit changes and apply.
Also change the size of recovery partition to 9MB
Download Recovery.zip and extract to a folder. Plug in USB. Run file "fastbootflash.bat" Wait. It should take around 2 mins to flash.(There is no progress bar)
Reboot Clk and now we can boot into recovery by pressing and holding the back button when during boot, and choosing recovery.
For MagldrDownload Recovery.zip and extract to a folder. Open File "flash.cfg"
Change the partition size for system. for example if you want to change system partition to 300MB, change the following: system ya 300M
and save changes to flash.cfg
Boot into Mainmenu for bootloader by pressing and holding the power (disconnect) button when during boot.
Choose "USB flasher" in menu. Connect usb cable. Run "DAF.exe" as administrator and follow instructions. It will flash recovery and reboot.
During reboot hold power button and boot in MAGLDR main menu. Choose "AD Recovery"
Click to collapse
Step E - Partitioning SD card
Partitioning SD card with ext4 (only required for data2ext and nativesd, this step is not needed for nand type installations)
Once booted in recovery, go to "advance" > "partition SD card" > and choose size for sd-ext partition by moving the slider.
And "swipe to partition" will start creating and formatting partitions
Click to collapse
Step F - Installating ROM
TWRP can mount sdcard as USB Mass Storage by choosing Mount>Mount USB Storage.
Copy the installation ROM Zip file to sdcard. Safely remove device in Windows and Unmount from TWRP recovery
In TWRP main menu click install and choose installation zip file and swipe to install.
Click to collapse
Step G - NativeSD Boot
When we installed NativeSD, the Bootloader doesn't know how to boot it. On power on it will still boot the Nand ROM. So we need to make the bootloader boot nativesd rom. Heres how
For cLKIf we have installed a NativeSD ROM, we need create seperate boot partition for storing the NativeSD kernel. in clk we can add 4 more secandary boot partitons. sboot, tboot, vboot and wboot (Offcource this comprimises nand space). To add/remove secandary partition go to clk settings
Now we can flash NativeSD kernel on Sboot. 3ways of doing this. I have already included an option in aroma installer to flash sboot whilst installing rom. However if you are on other rom, you will need to flash sboot2.zip (search in xda) or you can goto twrp recovery>advance>native manager choose your secandary boot and rom.
For MagldrFor Magldr is rather simple. We don't need to add secandary boot partiton for nativesd. Just show the location of the kernel on sdcard.
Goto Magldr main menu. now select Services>BootSettings>AD SD Dir and choose the NativeSD folder on sdcard.
Click to collapse
Step H - Default kernel and Mulitboot options
Now that we have STEP G, I will try to explain about Default kernel and Mulitboot options.
When to bootloader boots into ROM we need to tell the bootloader which ROM we need to boot into, this is done by choosing default kernel
When We enable ShowMultiboot the bootloader will ask the user to choose the ROM that need to be booted into. (Clk will wait for 5seconds for user input and then will boot in defualt kernel whereas Magldr will wait forever until user choose the ROM)
Scenario:
User A: I want my HD2 to directly boot into Nand(or Data2ext) ROM when I switchON my hd2
User B: I want my HD2 to directly boot into NativeSD ROM when I switch ON my hd2
User C: I want my HD2 to ask me which ROM should I boot, when I power up my HD2 and I will choose everytime which ROM to boot
User A and B wants to directly boot into their ROM type without asking (so they need to disable ShowMultiboot) but User A need to set Default kernel as NAND and User B has to set default kernel to NativeSD
UserC has to enable show multiboot.. Below are steps how to achieve this
For cLKBoot into Clk, Go to settings
You will see set default kernel. If you choose Nand it will boot into Nand(or Data2ext) ROM. (UserA should do this)
If you choose sboot(or on of the secandary) it will boot into NativeSD ROM. (UserB should do this)
If you enable show multiboot it will wait on the clk boot menu for 5 seconds. If you don't choose within 5 secs, it will boot to the default kernel selected (UserC should do this)
For MagLDRBoot in MagLDR main menu.
We can set default kernel by going to Services>BootSettings>BootSource.
Choosing Boot from NAND will automatically boot into Nand or Data2ext everytime we switch on HD2 (UserA should do this)
Choosing Boot from SD will boot into NativeSD automatically, without asking, everytime we switch ON HD2 (UserB should do this)
We can enable show multiboot by going to Services>BootSettings>Always Menu. . Choosing Green-Yes will activate Show Multiboot(UserC should do this)

Goal of this specific Q&A/T thread for SLIM ROM JB
Hi my dear followers of this ROM,
As an addition to the post of macs18max in the third post, I will explain further the goal of this specific thread created for this ROM with the permission of the Developer of this ROM:
This is a statement made in the Q&A/T template thread:
"While our forum has slowly been morphing, the one area we would like to keep original is Development
The goal is to alleviate the OT banter that occurs within any rom. While the XDA forum continues to grow, we need to help users work within the guidelines created by XDA. Over the last couple of years the average rom being created, has become a free for all chat thread. There tends to be much infighting and mod/developer cleaning.
The idea of this template is to create a Questions and Answers for each rom. This is in no way asking for Development to be moved here, rather any and all conversation that is non Development related to your conjoined Q&A."
This means that non-development related posts, should be posted - with the permission of the Dev - in this thread. What are the most common Off Topic posts, that should be posted in this Q&A/T thread?
1. Battery life related posts
2. Will this app work with this ROM
3. SD Card related problems
4. How do I dowmload and install this ROM, etc
Hope to have given you enough information,
kindest regards, Kuzibri
Is there a reason why should I replace my CWM 5.0.2.6. with 4ext recovery? I mean,is it better, does it have more options, is it more stable...?I'm asking this cause 4ext was recommended here as recovery type.
Will the flashing of 4ext wipe my rom and everything? I never flashed another recovery but cwm,and that was way back when my phone was still running WM.
Sorry for asking this here, but like I said ,only cause 4ext was mentioned here.
Thanks.
Sent from my Htc Hd2 using Tapatalk 2
I've just seen this: "Select the size of for 1st partition (Choose greater than 1024MB) (This will be the size of data partition)"
I have one 4ext 1024mb partition and everything is working fine, except some FC in trebuchet.
Is there a reason I should increase my partition to 2gb?

Is there a reason why should I replace my CWM 5.0.2.6. with 4ext recovery? I mean,is it better, does it have more options, is it more stable...?I'm asking this cause 4ext was recommended here as recovery type.
Will the flashing of 4ext wipe my rom and everything? I never flashed another recovery but cwm,and that was way back when my phone was still running WM.
Sorry for asking this here, but like I said ,only cause 4ext was mentioned here.
Thanks.

Hi Lincoln357, I think you should try another recovery, you might then be able to boot a pixeldroid rom, just a thought.
That said, I had trouble with this ROM on nativeSD booting from wm6.5.
I first tried launcher2 from aroma, after booting and at end of setup i had setup not responding (wait/force close) and could not get to launcher (home button pressed). After reboot it hung on slim bootscreen.
Fresh install same sdcard, and it hung on slim bootscreen. (note sdcard was previously formatted with gparted)
Fresh install new sdcard, chose nova, same problem with setup and couldn't get to launcher. (formatted with minitool)
Fresh install, same new sdcard, formatted sdext with recovery (4ext sd version edited by Xylograph, never given me problems before) and finally got it to go to launcher. Phew:laugh:
So a combination of sdcard and formatting got me there. It is odd how some roms are sensitive to these things
Lastly, I think the same problem with tytung's aroma script with ppp is occurring here. If you leave rmnet as default (booting from wm6.5), there is no data. you must choose ppp to get data despite there being a checksys.sh and lines in updater.script which should force ppp install for haret booting.
Anyway, its great to see Slim ROM back on our hd2, it seems really fast.
Excellent job max18mac  and thanks for your continuing support for our hd2:highfive:
Posts in this Q&A/T thread
Hi my friends,
It/s vey nice to see, that when a Dev's Rom and the accompanying Q&A/T thread for this ROM are released on the same day, posters will make directly more use of this Q&A/T thread. Totally different from starting a Q&A/T thread for an already existing ROM!! Thanks very much for posting here and hoping that this thread will become very soon self-sustaining without our interference on the Dev's thread to move posts to this thread!!! Again, thank you very much, really appreciate this!!!!!
kindest regards, Kuzibri

Can't see why this is not the place for it. We are in Q&A forum after all I see your point though.
Unfortunately I don't know, hardly ever used nandroid. Been mostly on wp7 in nand, and 6.5 before that. you might have to search a bit, or maybe wait til max18mac wakes up after working all day (and more) on this release
Sorry can't help further.

I'm not entirely certain of this but if I'm not mistaken you just flash it in USB flasher. It will wipe all of your data and you should make a backup of your apps/data in Titanium Backup first (I don't think restoring a CWM backup in 4EXT is completely safe). No matter what you decide to do, backup first. You know what, just backup your data for the hell of it Seriously though, backup.

I must be honest,I never backed up data or anything. I never use many apps so when it comes to that, I just do a fresh install. My question was will the flashing of 4ext recovery wipe my current rom, just to know. If it does, what the hell, I'll flash it again

Yeah it will wipe your ROM. You'll have to flash the ROM again (*cough* backup *cough*) but that's all you'll have to flash so it's not like a Task29 or anything.
Not sure if I missed it, but on the navigation bar I can see the screen off button but I don't see the power menu option . Is there such one for this Rom?

So,I go to USB Flasher, connect my phone to my pc, run DAF.exe and run it and that's it?
Afterwards I need to flash rom again, and I go to recovery same way I did with CWM, from Magldr menu, right?
Just wanted to check before I do it, to be sure something doesn't go wrong.

Exactly. I'm not sure how you edit the size of the /system partition when you flash 4EXT but hopefully that'll be clear when you do it. If not, you can obviously post here since this is a Q&T thread and someone who's used it is bound to help. Other than that, what you outlined is entirely correct so good luck flashing.

A You can find the link to download and installation instructions HERE.. Pay close attention to this post, everything required for a successful flash is listed right here. If you fail to follow the instructions or meet the requirements for installation, you could run into some problems.

Hi my friend,
would you also be so kind to post this message at the end of your thread???
In addition to THAN's post:
This thread has been created, in accordance with the owner of the original development thread, to keep his thread clean from Off Topic, e.g. non-development related, posts. What are OT posts? Examples:
1. I want to install this ROM, how to do that?? This is a question you can find in the first post of the thread.
2. I want to use a specific app with this ROM, will this work with it. Not development related., etc . etc.
3. Posts about WiFi/BT that are working for you, while others have no problems with that.
4. SD Card related problems, etc

Clean install to a a SanDisk Ultra® microSDXC™ UHS-1, 64 GB Set the EXT4 partition to 4 GB. Install seems to go fine and after first boot, the phone runs fine; however, I am experiencing random freezes during the day that require removing the battery. Running a second phone using a Samsung 32 GB, Class 10 and NexusHD2-JellyBean-CM10.1 V2.1 on Native SD with no problem.
At this point, I'm not certain whether the issue is related to the SD card, the build, or an incompatible app running in the background. Last evening, I went through all of the apps on the phone, starting using, and then closing. None triggered the freeze. It seems to occur after the phone has gone to sleep. It just won't wake-up, requiring pulling the battery and restarting.
I had been running the prior releases on NAND without issue other than the aforementioned memory problems. Any comments, suggestions appreciated.
Over the weekend, I replaced the SanDisk Ultra® microSDXC™ UHS-1, 64GB card with a Samsung Pro Extreme Speed 64GB and reinstalled. So far, the problem appears to be solved and was related to the SanDisk Card. Performed a second installation using a Microcenter store brand 32 GB, Class 10 card and it too seems to be running flawlessly. The SanDisk cards are headed back to the store. I may simply have had a bad card, but wanted to share my experience.

Need Help
Hi,
I really need some help to understand better the way of flashing this rom.
I may have been doing something wrong.
But first i need to say I LOVE MIUI ROM.
I have an HTC HD2 Leo (EU) 512MB
My SD Card is not of a good brand, it is 8gb class 6 card, that came with my first HTC HD. It has some years now.
I have installed this ROM via ClockMod 1.5 and created a FAT 32 and an EXT4 partition.
Everything runs excellant in the ROM, but after a few days, the phone starts to freez and in a point i start losing APPS.
It is really anoying to do it all again, all is backuped with Xiamomi Account and Google account, but it is really boring to put everything again on SD card, and flash it all over again.
Do you think it might be a problem with my SD Card?
Help is much apreciated.
I really want to use this ROM.
Thank you,

Hi,
1. for installing instructions for this ROM see page 1 of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255056
2. IMJO you should buy a new SD Card cause that might be the cause of your problem(s). When was the last time you formatted your SD Card? I format it every two weeks to prevent the Card is the cause of problems, like freezes, instability, battery drainage, etc.

Hi all,
Some days ago I bought a HD2 with Windows Mobile and today I managed to flash MIUI on it. Everything seems to work flawlessly except for the internet connection. No data (H in the status bar is displayed) and no Wifi connection (it gets stuck at "obtaining IP address"). But I can receive and make calls and the SIM card works in my Xperia Z (I use it with an µSIM -> SIM adapter, but this works in my G1 ).
So what do I do wrong? APN is also correct...
Thanks in advance,
Lunch
PS: I have already tried #7 out of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10433749#post10433749 (7th)
And another SIM card shows exactly the same problem.
EDIT2: after this I flashed another ROM (NexusHD2) and all mobile data related issues are gone.

Hi Lunch,
I met the same problem with a certain Android ROM. What I did to solve it, is remove every WiFi connection it detected and added them again manually which gave me the possibilty to enter the key of the Router. After that WiFi worked without any probs. Maybe this will work for you too!!
kindest regards, Kuzibri
Thank you, maybe I'll try MIUI once again and I'll look through it.

GPS problem and SOD on lock screen
I installed this rom (current ver 3.4.19) and all in all I think it is best HD2 Android ROM on JellyBean 4.1.2.
One problem exist since first 4.1.2 release of this rom (gtbluesky on miui.com). It is a GPS problem, that seems unsolved yet. It is difficult to search original forums on miui.com for solution, because of chinese, of which I dont understand any word.
Anyway, I'm sure that all freezes I have had are due to this particular gps isssue, because phone freezes with SOD only while in sleep (lock screen), and I think it is because one of the app (system or user) trying to get GPS data freezes the phone and lock screen is then locked for sure with famous black screen of death with only hard key's light on.
I came to this conclusion because I installed app "GPS status" from market and tried forceing gps just to test my phone GPS radio. After launching, app waited (as usual for gps apps depending on my location, satelites position, gps cacche etc) and finally when gps was captured with correct data, then freezed the phone leaving me with no other option but to reset the phone with pulling out the battery.
I repeated this several times and got freezed almost every time.
Google maps freezes phone also, as soon as location is fetched from satelites, not from AGPS.
If anyone noticed this, or had this same problem, please post some advice or solution how to fix this.
My HD2 is:
MIUI 3.4.19 with DataOnExt
bootloader: MAGLDR
recovery: cwm
memory: 512 (EU)
SYS partition: 370 MB
cache partition: 5MB
SD card : SanDisk 16Mb class 4
ext4 partition: 2048
Hey there guys. I recently installed this ROM and everything works fine, didn't have any major problems. The only thing that bothered me was the camera, as it was a bit buggy. So I then decieded to use the one from my Titanium Backup (from a previous rom installation). It worked just fine.
Yesterday I wanted to take a picture and the camera icon was gone. If anything both were gone, by that I mean that after the ROM install there were two camera icons (before the TB one). I retried to restore the one from TB, to no avail. I just wanna know what the problem is, or should I just install a camera from the Playstore? Thanks for a wonderful ROM!:good:
My Install details are as follows:
MIUI 3.5.3 with DataOnExt
Bootloader: MAGLDR
Recovery: CWM
Ext4 partition: 4GB
Swap size: 256mb
Memory: 512 (International)
SYS partition: 380 MB with 5mb cache
SD card: SanDisk 16GB Class 10
