[Q] A question about rooting and "Root status"

My (noob) question is if I root can I return the device back to stock and will the "Root status" always show rooted and is there a root counter similar to some other devices on board?
According to other threads you can flash back to stock and it currently reads uprooted. Will a future patch change it? Doubt it as I havnt read that it is connected to hardware it's just a software check that doesn't revert back after unrooted. Only if you never have root hence flashing the KDZ file from lg.

So what you are saying it only tells if the device is rooted or not. It will change given the root status( rooted or not) and will not have a record of root/unroot instances. Please correct me if im not understanding this correctly and thanks for your patience.
It will not change back if you unroot but I have read a stock 're flash will put. It unrooted status

After Root Device Status Changed to Custom

Hey,
I have rooted my i9500, kitkat version with CF root method via Odin. And i have successful rooted it. But after that when ever i click on OTA update it gives error of, your device has been modified.... update not available.
And my device status in setting has been changed to custom.
Plz tell me how to solve that. I tried unmount sd card, and cache clear from recovery. Didn't worked.

If u rooted ur phone u wont gona be able to INSTALL updates via OTA coz it changes ur system to CUSTOM. You can download them but NO install them. The unique way is flashing this file downloaded for STOCK RECOVERY :highfive:
Now wanam show status to official. There are many tweaks in this app. Changing color of clock etc. What if delete this app, my status remains to official or change back to custom.

Once you rooted the phone : you have both warranty and official support (OTA) out of the door and you can't do anything to get it back .. unless you buy another S4. Just kidding though, now you'll have to do everything manually. Juste take a look at all the available roms and install the one you like

New LG G2 OTA Update!!!

In currently running stock firmware but rooted. I'm in the 3 network in the UK. I checked the other night to see if an update was showing and nothing, and I've been checking periodically over the last few weeks.
Tonight I thought I would give it a go and I am currently downloading a 548.36mb update. Does anyone know what this is??

are you running the 4.4.2 update already?? cause if so it might be bug fixes
Nope. I'm running stock 4.2.2. I didn't think u would get it as I an rooted.
Went to install it and obviously that's where NY excitement became frustration. I've uninstalled Xposed and done what I can to unroot the device without a PC and an attempting again.
Is there a way to unroot the phone without a PC?

if you have a custom recovery than you need a pc or alot of looking around for the flashable zips of stock recovery but they have flashables of the 4.4.2 update that are pre-rooted so id say flash that when you can
This does not belong in the Development Section; moved here...Thanks.
