Only boots into TWRP v2.6.3.2 - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Sprint LG G2 that I have rooted but stock. I did get the message on my phone to install the OTA update. I clicked to install and then the phone rebooted to TWRP. Every time I try to reboot it only goes back to TWRP. I tried to restore a backup and when it finally finishes, it boots back to TWRP. Thanks for any assistance.

While in TWRP I click the Advance--->Terminal command button. Next screen asks me to browse to starting folder. +++++++++Nevermind, I just saw there were more pages to read. Let me look through that. Thanks.

Seems like about 3 other people have the same problems with no reply to fix.

I just tried to hold vol up+power button when the phone was off. It asked if I wanted to do a hard reset. I said yes. Then the phone went back to TWRP. Still stuck

If you plug into USB while holding vol up you can ht download mode, or if you download Koush drivers you can use adb commands
With download mode you could flash stock or use adb commands ..up to you...the back to stock thread is in general forum btw

I was never able to get into download mode when I was stuck on TWRP so using that terminal command in the other thread was the only way for me. Luckily I didn't get any errors and it just worked.

Phone won't turn on, please help

Before I get flamed, I have searched the forums, but the threads are NOT helpful. (some old, and I don't want to hi-jack anyonelse's thread)
THis is NOT my phone. I am trying to help, so bare with me. I have the SK4G and G2x, so this device is a bit different for me.
Apparently, my friend tried flashing a custom rom, it took too long and he pulled the battery. NOW the phone refuses to turn on. The computer recognizes the device, but I am unable to boot into bootloader.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
What is "recognizing the device", and what happens when you turn it off and then turn it on while pressing VolumeDown (or VolumeUp)?
Technically pulling battery during a ROM flash shouldn't cripple the phone. unless that is another side effect of the bad emmc chip, in which case you may be out of luck. but as the previous poster said, try booting whilst holding down the volume down key and see what happens.
I have tried the down volume button and power... up volume and power... home and power, all to no avail.
If I connect it to the PC it recognizes the device.

It booted into bootloader, but I can't select anything. I am guessing its the POWER button now.
The issue now is getting it back to stock and s-on in order to return it to TMOBILE. I can't select anything since the power button doesn't work. and I am not good at all with ADB.
can you select by pressing the optical trackpad instead of the power button?

It's okay, we have no problem helping people who are willing to help themselves.
From the Bootloader type in
Code:
reboot
since the phone doesn't have a working ROM it should boot into the recovery mode again
Well what you'll need to do is download the PD15IMG file PD15IMG
pull the SD Card w/o pulling the battery, and store just the PD15IMG.zip on the root of the SDcard.
Then type in
Code:
adb reboot recovery
again and unplug the phone. It should ask if you want to restore the PD15IMG, you'll hit the button (it'll tell you) to confirm that.

The Track pad only works if I am in CWM - if I am not mistaken. ( I have tried selecting with the power button and trackpad, nada)
I guess my next question would be, how to unroot using ADB without being able to select anything with the power button? Any way to flash the STOCK ROM and get S-ON again using ADB Commands? It will have to be sent back to TMOBILE. And since it is rooted, I have to UNROOT it. (The phone is ON MY ACCOUNT, but belongs to my friend. I don't want to get charged for the device because it's rooted and warranty voided)

once in your bootloader only the power button will select objects. the volume keys are the "picker" and the power button is the "selector"

Correct! The Trackpad works with Clockworkmod, but I can't even get there... How can I unroot/flash the PD15IMG.ZIP using ADB (if that's possible?!)
I will need to send it without them taking notice, as this is on my account.

OK. Sounds good. I am downloading the PD15IMG.zip as I type. This will take some time, according to the mins left (22m) - After it reboots, and reads the PD15IMG file, will this UNROOT the device back to stock? (I am guessing so... but just to be CLEAR!)

it SHOULD put everything back the way it came. IF you use the ./gfree method to root the phone it might not turn s-on. But everything else, the recovery image and the hBoot will be back to normal.

That's weird. Can you install the Android SDK or ADT and get adb.
Then plug your S4 to the computer (I assume the drivers are installed?) and open up cmd. Set adb to your path variables or just browse over to the adb where you installed your SDK and run
Code:
adb devices
to see list of devices and check if yours is there. Then type
Code:
adb reboot download
Let me know if that works.

Well if CWM works, and you flashed a stock ROM using Odin, does the issue persist? If so, it could be a hardware issue then.
EDIT: Although the issue in the OP seems to be solved partially no? Can you boot normally to your ROM? Can you boot to recovery (vol-up + power)? Download mode (vol-down + power)? Anyone of them through adb?

You're supposed to press vol-down and power. Not menu. I guess that's a typo?
Anyway, if it doesn't work in those ways, I'm not sure what's left besides taking it to the shop and getting it replaced.
Does adb devices detect the phone as online? If so, you can try this toolkit and maybe that boots you to download mode?

[Q] Bricked after dirty flash?

Can someone help me out? I just installed Clean Rom with a dirty flash over OSE Rom. ( I know I should have done it clean). After trying to reboot I got stuck on black screen with this: [810] Fastbootboot mode started

Let us know what happens. Good luck!
I found an easier way. When powered off hold volume down and power. When you see LG logo release buttons and press them again. when you are in the factory reset screen just press the power button 2 times and it should take you to recovery. This works for me in the T-mobile variant running TWRP.

Need help - possibly bricked?

Hey guys,
So my Verizon G2 was on the stock rom with root. I wanted to install TWRP on it and flash a rom but couldn't get to that due to the fact that I couldn't get TWRP running after I tried flashing it with Flashify(I did this after having the first OTA). Another OTA came up today and I legit accidentally hit install now. I'm currently stuck at fastboot and I can't even get into download mode or anything. Hard factory reset doesn't work either, I just get :
[2950] Fastboot mode started
[2970] udc_start()
and nothing happens. I really hope I didn't brick my phone.. Please help!
Thank you!
I was given a G2 that was bricked, all it would do is sit on the LG screen forever. I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960 and put the factory firmware on the phone. I never took any of the OTA's cause the phone wouldn't even boot up, but I would think its close to the same situation. The guide posted above worked for me

Damnit-- I am in the same boat. Vol down or up when plugging in does nothing-- just a glowing black screen after the LG logo. Device manager is only seeing it as a qhusb_bulk device even though the lg drivers are installed. None of the tools recognize it at this point. Almost ready to give up and call it bricked.
Did you make sure the phone is completely off? If you hold power and volume down buttons, it will shut off. Once its completely off you hold the volume down and continue to hold it while your plugging in the USB. I believe the drivers have to be installed as well.

Listen, to power off the device press and hold the power button, it may take up to 10-15 sec but it will power down.
Go to this thread and follow the instructions.

If you follow them exactly as stated, it will flash you to 100% out of the box stock, you WILL lose root and SD storage FYI.
I did this last night and it does work, just don't move to the next step until you are 100% sure you've completed the last.

I was able to finally get TWRP onto my phone last night, so I'm no longer stuck at fastboot. However, I'm not just stuck at recovery. Even after flashing a custom rom, I keep getting sent back to recovery. I did notice however, if I go to backup, the data partition is at 0mb, despite formatting data and cache already. I tried the dd commands in the link above with adb, and I get nothing(file doesn't exist). I'm at a loss. What can I do now?

Thanks for the help, but do I type that into the command prompt on my computer? Do I go into the terminal command option in TWRP? Totally confused on how to do it...
I know it took me all night...im kinda noobie...
Ok bear with me...use the second option from thecubes link, when in TWRP, go into terminal command, it will open a bunch of file options...ignore those and hit select on bottom right. That will start the command which will give you two sets of 6 figure numbers beginning with 6 and an out of memory error. Again ignore....hit back arrow till back to main screen and try what i said before. Again I am kinda a noob, so if my directions are confusing be patient and i will try to help.

Ok bear with me...use the second option from thecubes link, when in TWRP, go into terminal command, it will open a bunch of file options...ignore those and hit select on bottom right. Again ignore....hit back arrow till back to main screen and try what i said before. Again I am kinda a noob, so if my directions are confusing be patient and i will try to help.

Ok, I did that and it seemed to work but it won't boot at all now and won't go into download mode by holding down volume down and inserting the usb cable from computer....
Yeah I can't help you with that, sorry. I always had adb shell working so I could run the lg flash tools. Your just typing the command from the link that was posted into twrp?

To enter download mode power off phone, hold up volume only then plug into pc. Once there you should be stuck at logo screen but now lg updater will recognize your device.

A few minutes later I forgot about that and automatically booted into recovery and and saw the files there so i flashed. Not realizing that they were corrupt and I didnt make a backup!!!!

download another rom, try to get into recovery the hard way (press vol down and power button till it restart, when the screen flash, let it go and repress vol down and power button, it should ask you for factory reset, just ignore it.) hook up your phone Push the new download to your phone /sdcard then flash away.

You need to install the driver on your computer, install adb, use adb to push the files over.

no one gonna hold your hand through this, you need to do research. I havent install ADB in a year I dont remember everything.
You have to plug it into a USB 2.0 drive and manually select a driver from Google, it is on some page here but i'm sure you'll find it! If you have a microusb drive you can place the ROM on it and flash

do you can enter recovery? what recovery do you have, cwm or twrp?
basically, if you enter recovery, just reflash your rom, that you already downloaded.
