[Q] 4.4.2 root enquiry - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry for the dumb question, don't know much about rooting devices. I had root access in 4.4, but without thinking, when prompted to install 4.4.2,
I installed the update. To root it again do I have to do anything different than normal?

Do you have custom recovery? Copy supersu zip to /sdcard boot into recovery and run the zip. http://download.chainfire.eu/372/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.86.zip?retrieve_file=1

Updating 4.4 to 4.4.2 with XPOSED

Hey guys, I tried looking for the answer to this but couldn't find any info.
I'm currently on rooted, stock 4.4, stock kernel with XPOSED installed. I want to update to 4.4.2 without losing data.
I don't want to re-root using a computer method such as one click install since it does not work on my computer. What are my options?

The other I can see is with custom recovery.
Procedure:
Flash custom recovery like CWM or TWRP if you don't have,
Download OTA 4.4.1, 4.4.2 zip and SuperSU 1.8 zip
Disable Xposed
Boot into recovery
Install 4.4.1 OTA zip then 4.4.2 OTA zip
Install SuperSU zip
Reboot your phone
Enable Xposed

I have trouble with root and SuperSU on 4.4.2

I'm having trouble with SuperSU on 4.4.2 on Nexus 4.
So at 4.3 I unrooted first, then OTA'ed to 4.4 and now 4.4.2.
Yesterday I used cf-auto to root my phone, but there was no SuperSU. Then I downloaded one from Google Play. But it keeps saying "unfortunately SuperSU has stopped" when there is a need to use SuperSU, i.g. when there is a root explorer app running. I doubt whether the root was successful so I downloaded a root checker, but it kept saying "please wait". So I even don't know whether my phone is rooted.
Please help.
Do you have a custom recovery? Download the zip in the op and flash in recovery.

no i have the original recovery.
I tried Reinstallation in SuperSU and used root checker, which said my device has root access. But after I installed SuperSU again, it keeps crashing again. (keeps saying SUperUS has stopped.)
If you haven't gotten this squared away, I would recommend using Wug's toolkit to return to stock unrooted and then using the toolkit to reroot.

Just encountered this kind of problem on Purity. Flashed latest build (4.4.2), and then I didn't have root acces anymore. Then I tried rooting with Wug's toolkit (CWM as recovery and SuperSU as root), and unfortunately superSU didn't appear at all in the apps. I tried installing it from the recovery, no luck.
Then I tried it with SuperUser. it worked. I didn't ask any questions

Upgrading TWRP and Root Problem

So basicly I just want to upgrade my TWRP version (from 2.6.3.2 to 2.6.3.3+) in order to flash new kitkat roms.
But I have 2 issues:
1) I have rooted my device and installed TWRP 2.6.3.2 on my LG stock rom, then I wanted to change rom, so I wiped all but internal storage and flashed Beanstalk 4.4.2 + GAPPS. Now it looks like there's a problem with my root access (root checker says that there is a problem and superSU won't install binary updates). Recovery works fine. Do I need to root my phone again or what? Can I just do these steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448887 all over again?
Edit: Ok, After flashing http://download.chainfire.eu/376/SuperSU/, I just needed to deativate supersu and reactivate it. Now it works just fine!
2) I wanted to upgrade my TWRP using FreeGee, but it looks like the app couldn't load without root access (Issue 1). So can I upgrade it with just doing these steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449670 all over again?
Sorry for the long questions.
Thanks
Download the zip file for twrp. Boot into recovery and install the zip

Nexus 4 stuck need root and recovery

Hi, recently I updated my rooted nexus 4 to 4.4.4 jellybean, which then unrooted it. I still have SuperSU installed, but once I try to run any root apps, it says I am not rooted. Looking around, I need to reroot the device, but my custom recovery TWRP has been uninstalled. I tried to install twrp with GooManager but it wouldn't download. The best option seems to be to reroot the device, but I cannot make a nan droid backup as no recovery installed. I have one but its fairly old, and I will lose a lot of data. What I need is a way to install custom recovery but I'm not rooted :/
You know this is the nexus 10 forum right?
What you need to do is flash a recovery via fastboot and then reroot.
