Hi, I'm trying the new moto g and I'm impressed about the battery life...

Why there is so much different from n4?
I know ...this hw asks less power, but the problem( and the different) is in standby too...
With moto g, I've always deep sleep, without wakelock, ( sinc , 3g/WiFi always on)
With n4 this is impossible, I'm using the phone in the same way and with same apps...
Someone can answer?
Thanks...

As for screen on time, it's mostly hardware related.
The SoC draws way less power than the S4 pro. Also, the display is smaller, which gives it another advantage.
As for the HSPA/WiFi battery drain on the Nexus 4, it might be related to the modem itself. The S4 pro does not have an on-die modem. It's a completely different chip whereas on the Moto G the modem is actually on the same die as the rest of the SoC (correct me here if I'm wrong, please. I do remember reading that this SoC has it on die).
A sperate chip will generally draw more power than a completely integrated unit.
As for standby, I beg to differ. Standby is actually one of the strengths of the Nexus 4.
I don't know about the Moto G, but I am absolutely satisfied with the standby performance. SoT is abysmal, though.
Picture shows standby with 3G and sync on. Not a single percent lost from 9:00AM to 6:36PM.

Something really weird happens when playing Ingress the battery drains like a mofo which is expected and then when I stop even when I use the phone the battery stays flat for a while. Seems the power of Ingress is too much for the battery sensor on the phone. Makes it hard to know how much battery I really have though.
I hope they fix this. My SGS3 at least drains fast but normally not over a cliff like this.

My battery has this issue too, it just goes down 10% in a second
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
its using gps, Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, and all the cores to run so yeah its pretty resource heavy
My battery lasted a whole hour while playing Ingress last time. That's not too bad considering that the screen is on, with gps, etc etc.
I have seen this on any electronic devices, laptops, phones etc. I think it's just a software issue
I have seen this on any electronic devices
some ximpates
is it using stock rom and kernel?

Happens on every kernel so I think its a battery controller issue rather than kernel. The funny thing is after I stop it flat lines for a while so it obviously didn't really drain what it shows. Yes it uses basically every part of the phone at once but should be a smooth drop not off a cliff. One time I tried it went from 100% to 10% in like 1.5-2hrs of Ingress.
Lol

how long can you play ingress on a battery charge and on what phone. I have SGS2, standar battery and I can reach 2,5 hours of screen on time.
2 hours on the phone did this to my battery. Screen time was 48 mins. Screen was off on call using BT. Phone was red hot after call

It is something you installed or something on your setting up the phone.
this phone battery is amazing , trust me it is.
I get screen on times , unthinkable to my previous phones with brightness way way higher
so.. just try to figure out what is eating your batt and why.
edit:
then again you didnt start your battery log with 100% batt
and your drain was due to a very phone cal (?) With screen off, but your network signal suck really bad, maybe is from there ? But even with low coverage I find it hard to imagine that drain.
But then again.. never had low coverage ..
Yeah I can assure you it's something in your settings that is giving you poor life. You didn't give much description of what they are so it's tough for me to help you with what to fix, or how much knowledge you already have. I recommend BetterBatteryStats and Battery Mix for starters.
Install BBS (Better Battery Stats) and find the rogue application that is causing battery drain.
Battery life for me is amazing. I get close to 28-30 hours with mid - heavy usage.

Your signal during this two hour call was awful. Keeping a connection while not using the phone is a battery sucker in these conditions. I imagine it is much more so when you are actually on the phone. I'd suspect that as the culprit, as the radio has to be pumped up to the max constantly, instead of every minute or so.
I had a note 2 on same network and never saw this kind of drain. I think this qualcomm chip is ****. In my settings my cpu was at 2.27ghz for 1 hour 43 mins! Why was my cpu maxed out while making a simple call.?

Anybody else all for this? Not that the G2 needs it but it would be nice after a day of heavy gaming to something to the effect of the S5 battery saver, and it would shut up some fan boys!

Pretty sure a large part of the those two phones' power saving modes rely heavily on a power saving feature of the Snapdragon 801, and we only have the 800, so a full port would not be possible.
Best you can do is create per app profiles with different frequencies, I know setcpu & faux clock can do this. Also could manually disable things.

Any more information on this? I haven't heard of an extra power saving mode on the 801.

It seemed like I heard a lot more about it when the 801 was first announced. Not very specific, but I found this on Qualcomm's website:
"As with all Snapdragon processors, Qualcomm Technologies continues to achieve superior processing performance through the unique and efficient integration of its custom-designed processing engines, including Qualcomm Technologies' heterogeneous computing architecture. The Snapdragon 801 enables breakthrough, low-power mobile user experiences by utilizing just the right processing engine or combination of processing engines for a given task."

It's not for 801 only cause HTC m7 have this tool now after the new update.
Actually there are a lot of things that you can do to save battery: turn off data, fall back to 2G network, turn off WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, etc... keep lightness low... The ROM you are using also affects your battery life.
BUT anyway, G2 is really a battery saver itself alr... but i am using CarbonROM now, and the battery saver mode is great.
Honestly I don't really see why this phone needs it. This phone has an extremely good battery, I could last 2 days of proper use out of it sometimes.

When I first used the OPT, I noticed that it loses battery *in standby* pretty fast. Screen on time was good but just leaving it be would drain a lot of battery. I turned off LTE but also noticed that it often struggled with cell network quality (which usually makes a phone look for other stations etc. thus battery is used a lot).
However, today, after a couple of days of use and maybe 3, 4 recharge cycles, it seems a bit better. Is there a chance that this is an actual effect (it could be something very different). Do batteries also get better after some use or am I just biasing my highly non-scientific measurements here?

I've noticed this too. I think that this battery technology does improve its capacity after several charge/discharge cycles.
Correct but what about 100+ cycles... It start loosing its power.... What's the best way to keep a li-ion unit last longer? Any help or suggestions?

Good practice is not let battery overheat, like when you play and charge, also batteries don't like to be fully discharged try to keep at least 20% and start charging again

Short answer. No, worse.
This is it. The sold my Elife E7 and ordered a LeEco Le 2 X520.
it was more than 2 years with this device and now i feel that this is reason enough for this goodbye review.
Hardware
A very good device, very resilient and powerfull CPU, RAM response fast enough.
The camera was the plus factor. Photos and Movies were very good. Down side: No 4k or slow-motion recording....
The thin plastic borders on the left and right sides protected very well the screen on every drops... Very smart...
No 4G its now a deal breaker...
The battery was disapointing... Lately i notest that rebooting the device changed the charge value... Weird...
If the device was charging and i rebooted it, it would "gain" 20% more battery... If the phone was unplugged it would "lost" 20% battery.... Maybe in the beginning a full charge lasted a whole day, but that changed fast...
Lately it was so unstable that in some days i would charge it 3 times to 100% and other days it lasted a full day reaching about 23:00 with 50/40% of battery [it seems awesome, but its not...]
This values were obtained were a very similar usage
- Google Play Music + Bluetooth all day
- Social media 70/80% of the day
- Wireless and mobile data always on
- Video streaming about 20/30% of the day
Software
The dark side... Gionee support ended on Kitkat.
The hardware misture used by Gionee engeneering just was to complicated to master
Custom ROMs based on Kitkat had no NFC support and there were some overheating issues, custom roms from Lollipop foward has a fatal flaw: No camera! The most awesome feature of this device...
Stock ROM also had some RAM management issues, for instance the used apps were never closed until you reboot the device, otherwise they would be running on backgroung sucking RAM up...
So its goodbye...
And rest sure that i'll never buy another device from Gionee again...
New times are coming:

Also a Qualcomm CPU device with interesting features, and the ROM support is at Nougat level...
Good luck for the Gionee Elife E7 left users...
I' m also waiting for my leeco x520.
