I think it´s MK9, and yes, Android 4.3.

Official ICS for O2 Branded devices

Hey everyone,
O2 released the official ICS for O2 Branded Galaxy S2 devices today for anyone who wishes to know. Not sure if this is the right section, so I am sorry if it is wrong.
I updated mine there now. Looks nice so far; but may need to flash it with a version without touchwiz; this is the first time I have hated touchwiz on a rom.
Regards,
T.
You got me all excited but it hasn't shown up on Kies for me.
LPxx update..
Just appeared in my Kies, I take it this is the firmware update LPxx ? Does anyone know if this will affect root (as mine is rooted) ?
thanks,
D

You sure you are running O2 branded locked device?
Mine showed up straight away; but then again mine is O2 locked/branded.

Mine wasn't rooted, so not sure. You may need to re-root it afterwards.

I bought it pretty recently from phones4u on contract with O2. So I'm pretty certain.
Could it be that they're staggering the updates so they don't have every single SGS2 user trying to download ICS at once?

You have an Unlocked version if bought from Phones4U. It is contract with O2, but still unlocked. When connected to KIES and it says "This is the latest version", underneath it will have the PDA, CSC code etc. It will end in XEU; this is unlocked. If it ends in O2U; it is O2 locked.

What do you think of the ICS update?
Think I am going remove touchwiz today tbh.
Seems OK , not too slow/intensive. I'll leave it "as is" for a while and see how it goes.

International Unlocked S3 I9300 Jelly Bean Updates

Hello everyone,
first time poster here, so please be gentle if I missed one of the rules here... I've searched through the threads here but am still somewhat confused.
I have an unlocked, unbranded international edition I9300 coming in the mail shortly. I intend to use it in the United States on the T-Mobile network. It turns out that T-Mobile has 3G coverage in the 1900 MHz band where I live.
Being a complete nub, I would prefer to not root the phone. However, I'm also wondering whether it is possible to install a version of official Jelly Bean on there once I get it through Kies? I've looked at the releases for Poland and Sweden, but they seem to all be branded versions for specific carriers. Would they work for me?
Thank you in advance!

Yes they will work on any i9300 model. However JB for your particular region should be out soon. So, you could just wait and update through KIES to avoid an hassle.
The Polish release is not branded. The Swedish is.
It just so happens I just came back from the states where I used my I9300 with my stock Polish DLIB rom on T-Mobile. Worked great.
Okay, thanks!
If the OS is branded, what differences does it have other than the splash screen at startup? Can these be installed without rooting?
Also - the North American variant is not the quad core i9300. Do you think they will still release an update through Kies to the U.S. for i9300?

The boot animation, some sounds probably, some carrier specific apps and/or games. In this case the telenor release is almost clean from what I read.
The apps you can disable without root, the boot animation you cannot.
If I were you I would go for the newest JB release and wouldn't worry about the branding or the CSC. If another newer release comes around you can just flash it over your existing rom using Odin without losing anything.
The NA versions will most likely receive JB as the Note2 which is about to hit retail in the US is already running it.
im waiting for the official uk update either that or a good working aosp rom

wait, does that mean I cant use my sgs3 (polish fw) with at&t????
What would be the best JB to work on AT&T for best modem and APN settings. Right now I still have everything stock as I got it last Friday but getting terrible data speeds. This is in an a H+ Coverage area. I have the AT&T branded Red SIII and a international SIII and on the AT&T branded I get 3 to 4 Mbps download, while the international just breaks the 1Mbps download speed.

Who told you that there are carrier specific boot animation or sound in Swedish jelly bean? Apart from one Telenor app there is zero customization in this rom. And even this app can be easily disabled without rooting.

I bought an international while in Saudi Arabia on business. I works just fine on Att with polish xxdlib. I have no problems pulling down 3 to 4 mb in decent areas. Unfortunately that is rare for me because I'm staying with family out in the boondocks temporarily.

Taiwan JB 4.1.1 for N8010 Rolling Out

First JB 4.1.1 for the N8010 Started rolling out , Taiwan is the First.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8&view=10391
EDIT : HAD TO CHANGE THE TITLE TO SHOW 4.1.1 AS SAMMOBILE CHANGED IT TO 4.1.1 AFTER POSTING IT AS 4.1.2.
APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE .
Does it include other languages? like german? and which problems will i get because of different csc when i flash this?
The previous taiwan I flashed had all languages. The only difference I found vs. the uk or the german one was the extra Taiwanese keyboard.
thanks, i think i will try it when i get home! are there any taiwanese apps which cant be deleted? other than with titanium or something like that ^^
Last time I haven't seen anything. Once it is downloaded I will also try it.
i´d love to have some impressions about this rom, please tell me about it when it´s done ^^

Yes, they changed it but still it is a different PDA and CSC. Also it is the first one that has a 2013 date.
so, by having a date of Jan 2013 makes it 4.1.2 ?.

Kinda annoyed that every country is rolling out Jelly Bean but the USA. Even their new Note 10.1's are getting Jelly Bean. It's so inconsistent. Thanks Samsung. I should just cave it and load one of these roms.

Not every country.
Canada is still waiting as well.
Are any differences vs. the previous 4.1.1 version?
confirmation?
Anyone know if this actually 4.1.2? And working in 8010
just having a play with it (Installed with odin straight over the top of the last BTU build)
looks like exynosabuse fails to root, so this may be the first version that's been patched!
will investigate more.
EDIT:
curious
/dev/exynos-mem is still world rw
as its still set as system graphics 666 in ueventd.smd4x12.rc
so even though the dev is still left wide open, it appears whatever chainfire was doing with his root exploit doesn't work anymore.
and on further investigation it appears this kernel uses the same patch that samsung used for the S3, so there's quite a chunk of security patches in there

1. This is a 4.1.1 rom.
2. There actually was a N8013 leak a few days ago for region XAR, which is Canada & USA, or really any are using the 8013 model number. I think Darkman released a deodexed version of it maybe.
3. I just polled a few BM sites & saw that there are Nexus 10's testing JDP66 build of 4.2.2
4. I love my Note 10.1, but really am glad I received the Nexus 10 to see the latest incarnations of Android!

[Q] GT-I9506 4.3 T-mobile FW

Hello all,
you may have seen that the t-mobile (Germany) was released this morning.
http://live.samsung-updates.com/index.php?device=GT-I9506
I am wondering if it is possible to put this FW on a vodafone (German) S4. (Unlocked) I had heard that t-mobile builds had less crap ware than vodafone, but not sure if it is true. In any case, there is no word when or if Vodafone will release 4.3, so it would be nice to have it from t-mobile otherwise.
any ideas?

Just as an FYI, I was able to flash this FW and it did work..But the radio is not that good. Much harder to get an LTE connection. I think I will try to figure out how to go back to 4.2 vodafone.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S4 software update

I just got my Samsung Galaxy S4. It is running on a 4.4.2 OS. But when I press software update, it keep on downloading new updates which ranges from 13.8 MB to 450 MB. Now it wants to download an update which is a 680 MB files. Should I download it actually? Anyone has any idea when will Kit Kat update be available.
It may help if you actually stated what Rom you are running?

........Android 4.4.2 is KitKat. Its the latest version currently available. Are you sure you're reading the version number correctly?
If you are. When and where did you buy your GS4?
I personally install all system update. Just keep checking for updates until there are no more.

Sorry. It is 4.2. I read the number wrongly. I upgraded it to 4.3 yesterday. When I check for the latest update, it said it is the latest system. This means 4.4.2 Kit Kat has not been release yt?

Ahh that makes more sense.
4.4.2 is available, but it's through a "test release ROM". (Which I'm currently using).
Its good enough for daily use, it just has a couple bugs.
4.4.2 Official from Samsung is meant to be arriving in the UK and US very soon. Hopefully within a couple weeks.
