Hey Guys, I've been having a trouble with my Samsung keyboard lately. My most favorite feature is gone. I've searched everywhere but I can't find anything relevant to this. The clipboard icon is gone.. I installed clipper but it's not as practical as the stock one.
I'm using the official firmware. Touch wiz. Android 4.3 N9005 rooted. Help..

Ditto, I also really miss the clipboard which I use(d) constantly and found invaluable as a time saver. Would be very grateful for any assistance.
I guess downloading a keyboard app could be an option but annoying that it's become a necessity.
Given that the latest update (4.3, delivered on the 19th I think) has generally made everything run badly, jitter, freeze and lose things constantly, is it possible to simply roll back to the previous version?
Thanks for any help!
Noob
I am having the same problem on my Galaxy S3 - after upgrading to 4.3, that heavily-used icon of mine is gone.
Since my wife's S4 (of course) has it, along with a few other new features (such as the OCR text entry, which I find a hell of a feature!), the question creeps into my mind: is it Samsung's way to tell us "your phones aren't the flagship anymore"?
Is there any way that this is only an error that can be fixed by an update, or is it really a political treat to us "old" phone users?

I just upgraded from an EVO LTE to a GS4. I am missing the auto-correct that I had on HTC's keyboard. On the EVO I could blaze through texts while it would automatically insert the correct word. So far, I cannot find this option on the GS4 keyboard. Does anyone know if this is an option and if so, how do you turn it on?
I would like to know as well. I been using swift key flow but I like the stock keyboard just missing auto correct

I am glad you mentioned SwiftKey! I forgot that it has autocorrect. I still wish the stock keyboard had it though.

Your welcome. i have the paid version of it and i love it. i got it a while back when it first came out and then there was a sale with that and several other good ones. But it has improved and its incredible. just needs better themes.
Hey guys,
I just bought a brand new Nexus 4 from Google Play and I rooted it first with AOKP but now I'm on CyanogenMod. Within a couple of days my keyboard started to become so laggy that it just crashes while I'm texting or writing an email. I switched ROMs and I installed kernels to see if anything helps but after a few hours it gets back to the same problem.
I don't know if I should unroot it and go back to stock. Or what I should do because this is extremely annoying.
Any sort of help would be appreciated
Thanks!

Could it possibly be with anything else you install? I've never had a laggy keyboard before. Are you using the keyboard that comes with the rom or installing your own? I'll use either the stock keyboard or SwiftKeys.
Also do you have a large dictionary or other addons?

Thanks for your reply. I just have normal apps like Facebook and music players. I am using the keyboard that comes with the ROM itself, and no I don't have any addons or anything.
I'm really thinking about unrooting and then rerooting it again to see if that helps

I just find it weird because I've had absolutely no laggy keyboard at all with my Nexus 4 (with either stock/rooted or with this SlimBean 4.2.2), using either the stock keyboard or SwiftKeys, it's a pretty powerful phone too so even swiftkeys with it's predictions shouldn't become laggy. I suspect there's something else amiss especially if you have this problem on more than one rom.

Thanks bro but I'll just try unrooting/rerooting to rule out any other problems

lol, root isnt the problem. unrooting it will amount to washing your cloths because your car is leaking air out of its tires. but, it can be cm. 1st, try just deleting the keyboards data in the main phone settings, app, all, then delete the keyboard apps data. if its not fixed, then boot into recovery and wipe your dalvik cache and cache. if still not fixed, try a different rom or different keyboard.
Ive been searching these forums for about a month about the s4 which I now own. I used to have a samsung infuse and was very active on the xda infuse forums. When rooting that phone infuse users lost a lot of features like mhl hdmi, hi res cam etc. With rooting the s4 what is lost? From what I can find it seems like only the air gesture features are lost. What else is lost and is it that way on all the roms. I want to root this device but not if I lose things like bluetooth or cam. I maybe can deal with no air gesture things. Thanks in advance. Sorry if this is answered I have tried to find as much info as possible before posting here.

If you stick with stuff in the Android dev (stock based ROMs with TW) section and not the Original dev, you won't loose anything. Just pick one that keeps that stuff, or has a flashable add on for it. Some remove it to keep the ROM lite if the dev feels not many use the feature.

Hello Everyone I have a few quick questions. I searched the web for answers but none turned up. I am very new to rooting phones but I love stock android so bad, I must have it. So here are my questions concerning rooting my SGs4.
I have rooted my nexus 4 and put Cyanogenmod on it in the past, is the process the same for the sgs4?
The sgs4 has many features iv never seen on Cyanogenmod, I could be wrong so will all my s4 features still work?
Finally whats this Build MF9 mean? iv recently bought my s4 does this build apply to me?
MF9 is the text code for the date the software was released. Go to settings - more - about device and look at your build number to see which version you are on. If not mf9 do the software update.
None of the touchwiz apps will work natively on an AOSP based rom but many of them (not all) have alternatives in the play store market
We should be getting an upadate to android 4.3 starting tomorrow so you may want to hold off and see how you like that first.

Yeah and all of the fancy gestures like the smart stay, smart scroll, air view and air gestures will not work on AOSP from my understanding. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

As these people stated are true but to be honest if you plan to root do not update to 4.3 unless some devs says is a go for rooting. And if you do decide to upgrade, you might stay without root for awhile.
A rooted verson will be out before the OTA goes out.. The source is already available

Thank you all I read everyone's post, very helpful. I do have build number ending in mf9 so I think I'm good to root.
I don't think update will be cool and I don't need Samsungs bloat ware, truthfully I haven't used not one of their features.
I have had an amazing experience on cyanogen mod with my nexus 4.
Also I hear battery is amazing on Cm on gs4

Soooooooo. I downloaded the new OTA for my verizon note 3. I think the verizon cloud is kind of cool considering I've accidentally deleted my camera folder twice (oops) However, one thing I don't like is the change in color in the keyboard. It isn't white/grey anymore and it depresses me. I want the old keyboard back. Is there any way to get it back?
Find one from one of the Roms out there that still have the white keyboard and install it. You may have to move to system/app which ota??? Mj7, mi9?, something new?

I would assume you could pull the apk out of the stock rooted mj7 rom. just use 7zip to pull apk out. I would download a free keyboard off the playstore as a backup in case for some reason it doesn't work, but no reason it shouldn't.

it was the OTA that just came out today. i used to be big into rooting, but i don't have much time for it anymore. plus now that i'm paying for my own phone and my dad isn't, i don't want to mess anything up. (; lol
Pics of new keyboard plz. Just curious
Pay for SwiftKey, last time you will want to change keyboards.

Here ya go. To me it's easier on the eyes and the auto correct feels smoother.

I do think the auto correct was improved. The last version I disabled it was so bad.

I personally don't like it. And until today, I've been using the Google keyboard.

I like the new (old old) dark theme but i use Swiftkey anyway. I don't like that the Samsung Keyboard doesn't allow to modify the press and hold delay.
I love that Swiftkey allows a quick right or left drag on the period key to get exclamation or question mark without having to wait for press and hold.
