Voted yes. We have a pretty good chance of getting official cm support, right? I'm sure this device will be really popular due to its quality and most importantly it's price.

me too

Voted ?

Who knows what CM is planning for this device, but at least one person (myself) does plan on working on omni for it.

More is better

Haha that's a Banana republic....Nobody wants to support my galaxy chat
But I guess moto g is not samsung's That makes it special
I feel that the only reason Samsung release so many similar yet multiple devices is to stop developers to focus on them...that way we have to buy new devices
Mayb out of context but my pentium dual core pc with a cheap graphic card and cheap extra ram works pretty nicely with windows 8

The Moto G will get done if a few developers decide to do so. The best thing is to have an unofficial port first of all then polish it up so it doesn't rely on ugly hacks and a fully functional rom can be built using the CyanogenMod repo. Then it can be submitted to the CyanogenMod team for evaluation. If it passes then it could be official.
So developers, let's be having you!

I'm looking forward to omni more than cm tbh. I don't like the direction CM is going, they have changed a lot recently. It took them so long just to get a stable 4.3.

Yep, Omni looks very promising. Saying this as a long-time CM fan.
Important thing is that we can see a couple of first-class devs flocking here.

I'd rather have OmniROM but the more the merrier.

Voted as well, i'm getting a G next week so Cyanogen support is welcome even if i won't flash it others will.

[PLEDGE] Give CyanogenMod / TeamHacksung a Galaxy S3!

Hello everyone. The time has come. Today Samsung announced their new flagship device GT i9300 A.K.A. Galaxy S3. Now, if you are a big fan of pure AOSP and his aftermarket distributions like I am you certainly already know that ICS based CyanogenMod 9 is out there and running and its pure fresh blazing awesomeness. That said, I decided to start this pledge to gather money to give Teamhacksung members codeworkx and xplodwild the next Samsung Galaxy S3 so they can develop for it and port CM9. As you probably know, Teamhacksung is the official CM mantainer for Samsung devices.
Im daily in touch with Teamhacksung members and they are already aware and fully support this pledge.
We running for two devices here. The ammount already includes Pledgie taxes. The donnations are going straight to xplodwild’s paypal account.
We count on you that, like me, is certainly going to buy this new beast called Galaxy S3 and want to see it sporting CM9 and future Google AOSP releases.
CM9 on Galaxy S3 for the WIN!!!!

****[UPDATE]****
People,
Im very proud to come here and say that
WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!!
I want to thank all of you very much for the collaboration. We did it and we did it fast. We are TEH community and we always prove right that we have such amazing power together. Thank you very very much again.
Now devs have what is needed to start the wild porting workx. Stay tuned! I will reach you with more news when I have them.
going to donate! this is definitely needed!
As soon as xplodwild at teamhacksung received the galaxy note, we received the cm9 official build instantly.
and we raised funds in just 24 hours where we could get them the galaxy note, love the community spirit. lets do it!
s3 needs to pimp the cm9 for sure!

I'm not entirely sure I will want to put a vanilla or CM on this phone right away... the stock Touchwiz ROM seems to have a lot of nice features.. Unless these can be incorporated into a ROM that is based on CM9 or what-have-you I think I will try running a stock Touchwiz ROM with root access.. I have never used Touchwiz but even if I had I couldn't definitively say I won't like this because it's new to everyone.

Awesome.
---
To each their own.
Thanks for being so sarcastic. I guess things went a bit too fast.
Actually, while the Galaxy S3 will have many great features, they're all software-based. And after looking deeply, there's nothing that prevents us from adding these nice features to an AOSP ROM, for instance CyanogenMod 9.
Hence why, Galaxy S3, once running CyanogenMod 9, will profit from a community effort started recently to bring manufacturers' features to all CM9-enabled devices. This can include actions triggered by motion, and other features so-called "natural".
You can find out more details at http://opendesign.blamesamsung.org/. Details on specific features, as well as the ability for everyone to request this kind of features, will be available on May 10th.
I can only thank once more people that will help Team Hacksung and CyanogenMod getting a Galaxy S III, to help all CyanogenMod 9 devices.

So true, this was an inspired moment We will give you more details soon. I'm pretty sure you will all like it. But we will need more peeps to help. This won't be done by xplodwild alone. this is a community work. Once done, this will revolution the world of mobile and of every CM9 maintained phone. xplodwild linked the website, it's still under developement, but you learn soon what it is .
And to answer CoNsPiRiSiZe, touchwiz always deceived us. I don't see why it would change now. A proverb says : "You don't have to taste **** to know it taste like ****".

As for the kernel, we were waiting on 3.4 to be "ready". It's now the case, and we started the real work, codeworkx, me, Espjenfo and Entropy all together
Cannot wait to see what u guys have got under your sleeves. My gs2 runs amazingly on cm9 crept for some battery life issues. But thanks a lot for all you've done just for free
I'd help if I could
CM9 on the S3 would be amazing.
Hope there isn't any troubles rooting it like there was on the Note? S2 was simple to do
Doesn't cyanogen work for samsung? It seems like he would get one for free either way.

TeamEos joins CodeFireX - discussion and testing

bigrushdog said:
Ohai! Here's the deal. I pulled the plug on the Eos project for a few reasons. First, I became unable to maintain the quality of the project while having to deal with countless internal systems issues and doing branch and build maintenance. Second, I didn't have control of the servers and other various resources, like the Goo account. That's why I couldn't get rid of the last two derped builds. Third, I'd rather focus on innovation than dealing with all the internal AOSP build system stuff. As of now, it appears the Eos servers are offline. Which is fine because i have the repository on numerous boxes and right here on my laptop. Finally, I was no longer enjoying Androiding. I NEEDED SOME FRESH ENERGY! Virtually the entire Eos team has already migrated to the new project and got their respective devices up and running! I put about 40 hours a week into Android and I needed to find some guys who have similar time to dedicate to a project. And that team is CodeFireX, lead by Synergy.
A little about Synergy, founder and new combined project team leader. Synergy is a linux guru. He is a master of the aosp build system and talented C programmer. Synergy leads the AOSP scene in innovative new optimization techniques and build solutions. TeamEos has worked closely with Synergy and CodeFireX for a while now. So the decision for us to migrate over to CFX made perfect sense.
When I drop some test builds, you will notice that, indeed, it is a new project, with some new philosophy. There is more CyanogenMod resources in this project. Particularly, some of the CyanogenMod apps including the CMFileManager and Apollo, the CM music player. We are also using the open source Superuser solution from Koush. "Why is this?" "Won't it look like a kang build?" Well, yes. But this project will be the one getting kanged. Like Eos, this project started with a pure AOSP base. I have been surgical in bringing in select desired resources from other teams. Synergy embraces the philosophy of having a solid build without a gapps package installed. In light of recent revelations regarding government surveillance, many people are enjoying Android without the Google Services. We want to provide a build that caters to these wise individuals. And, we feel that the open source CyanogenMod resources are the best. You will "feel" Eos in this build. The Eos spirit lives on in CFX. Always remember, it's not about team names, it's about people.
We now have a wealth of new resources to provide to our users. We have dedicated hosting in which downloading builds will be smoking fast. We have SERIOUS bandwidth. We also have a new forum in which we can provide users with tools that go beyond XDA support. However, I will continue to maintain XDA threads, of course. We have a sophisticated new ChangeLog scheme. And we now use Phabricator instead of Gerrit for project review.
Xoom users face a challenge now. Because of optimization, the build is rather large. Optimization increases the size of libraries and binaries. So, in order to get a successful Xoom build, I have to really "unbloat" the build. This is due to the Xoom having such a small system partition. And that brings us to gapps. Many of you know, CyanogenMod has made the decision to discontinue support on "non-neon" devices. The Xoom is one such device. The reason for this is mostly because Google is discontinuing support of non-neon devices as well. So, for now, I don't have a solid gapps solution. But i'll come up with something, I always do ;D
Test Builds: I should have round 1 up soon. First rounds will be no gapps and meant to simply test core functionality and hardware.
I truly hope you guys enjoy the new project. Besides, it's time to get some fresh ENERGY back in the Xoom scene anyway!
Stay tuned

That said, welcome to the evolution of TeamEOS - CodefireX or more to say the CodefireXperiment!
Randall (bigrushdog) and me worked hard the last weeks to get the TF101 supported properly with CodefireXperiment, as we promised all devices supported by EOS will be supported by CFX, too .
I finally achieved a mostly working build yesterday, with main hardware working and I couldn't find any issues that EOS hasn't had.
I also ran some benchmarks and compared them to the latest EOS builds (the good ones, not the borked of course) with the help of @Roach2010, EOS and CodefireX team member and the original EOS on TF101 developer. We came to the conclusiion that CFX will give you a roughly estimated 10% performance boost, mostly notable for CPU and I/O performance.
So here I am, to share the first test build with the TF101 community!
Test build #1 - Download
Credits go to the original TeamEOS, and of course the new CodefireX team!
Special thanks go to @bigrushdog for helping me with TF101 bringup (mostly frameworks stuff, I really suck at that) and in general for being a nice team member who is always there for a chat, @synergye for leading the new team and bringing one HELL of optimizations to the new ROM and thus to the TF101. Thank him for the performance boost! @timduru also deserves at least a massive special thanks for assisting and contributing back in EOS times, sadly he didn't move over to CodefireX due to various reasons. However, we all know he enhanced EOS and especially the TF101 to an extend noone of us could have achieved on his own.
Tried this out this evening. Seems pretty good, but minimal, so far. Will check back again after some more work is done.
Pleasure to see you back Chris :good:
Let's test it!
Where to look for changelog, and stuff like "merged" "opened" ... as in Teamos ?
Cool!
I'm still using the last builds of Eos4 on both my Nexus7 and tf101. Both work so well I have a difficult time moving on to anything else, but i'm gonna give this a shot and see how I like it. Thanks for continuing to work on Android for us!
I wonder how long this will last.

I've noticed quite a bit of development for alot of other devices from CodefireX, but I have not seen anything for the TF101 or any other Asus tablet. Have they abandoned this device line or just really slow to work on it? Timduru since returning from vacation has been a madman and has released not only multiple updates on the 4.2.2 chain but has moved the device onto a stable 4.3 ROM by himself.
Not criticizing here just curious.

Well, they did quite a bit at one point or another for our tablets, and it was based on their own time and interest, so I'm not slamming them for moving on to other things, although I am a bit disappointed that they would make the noise of supporting it and nearly completely ignoring it (they did put out a test build).
And I agree, Timduru's builds have been phenominal, I just hope he was able to enjoy his vacation since he's been back, the boy seems to be working like a dog....er a meercat.

will G2 get custom 4.4 based roms?

right now I'm still torn between G2 and Nexus 5, while G2 clearly has a rather superior hardware I've been spoiled with the look from pure 4.4 experience also unfortunately the Nexus isn't available yet on my country.
but from what I've seen there is no 4.4 based rom for G2 too, the question is, will it happen? specifically though I really want the kitkat version of Paranoid Android, will it come to G2? or is it actually more sure will come faster to Nexus 5?
It will eventually. But no manufacturers will gets it as fast nexus devices. If on time updates and rom is your main concern then your choice is limited.
-LG G2
I'm torn about this too, interested in the G2's battery life but only if I can get AOSP very smoothly and with no fuss. I wonder how stable CM11 nightlies will be for the first few months.

yeah, gsmarena battery test on nexus 5 kill my enthusiasm with it, however if it still a looong way for G2 to get 4.4 based rom then I'll just get nexus.
I know that everyone says that Nexus devices get updates the soonest, and while that's completely true and valid, to me it doesn't feel that way. I usually wait for CM or AOKP to put out stable builds before I upgrade, and by then they've built for every device and my neighbor's cat. Heck, it's been two weeks since 4.4 came out, and so far the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 7 officially have it, while in the mod community, CM11 is already out for other devices in a useable form. So, certainly official support for Nexus devices is quickest, but practically all the devices in the mod community get updates pretty quick.
That being said, the Nexus 4 has no official 4.4, but we on LG G2 are going to get CM11 very soon.
is this phone really get the support for at least 2 years from LG or they will just leave G2 behind with only one/ two update provided like what they did on their flagship phone in the past like LG Optimus 2x

It's so true. I'm disheartened by the lack of availability for the d803, however don't posses the skills to do something about it. I've started down the long road of trying to learn for myself so I'm not just one of those people that sit idly by and complain... but like I said it's a long road and it feels like I'll probably own a G4 by the time if figure out how to bring ROMs over to the G2 lol
I was obsessing over getting the nexus 5 for as long as it was leaked it was coming out. Once it was confirmed it wasn't coming to Verizon I thought I would settle for the G2. Let me tell you that now I have had it for 2 weeks and tried every ROM out there so far. I can happily say I didn't settle at all. Great phone. Came from gnex. Roms are coming out. Not at nexus speed but they are out there. Waiting for pa 4.0 but I am rocking a ROM from the droid Razer forum not xda called vallidus by GZ ROMs. Lots of functions. Everything you could want. Build is 4.3.1 base. Absolutely stable.

will it work on the international version of G2?
Hosers, eh?
Well, my take is that the Nexus is so similar to the G2 that we can't help but get lots of dev support (ie, so many of us who didn't want to wait for the Nexus and/or changed our minds at the last minute the same way a Chevy dealer puts a Corvette in the showroom to sell you a Malibu). We might not see as much as the G4 or the One, but Chrysler still sells a ton of cars even though they are not Ford or GM. I came from a Skyrocket which was just different enough from the S2 not to use the same roms, but close enough that it still has (unofficial) CM/PA/AOKP/PacMan support plus half a dozen hobbyist roms two years out.
Will we get "Official LG" Android 4.5 six minutes after the Nexus? No. Will I be stripping the factory rom and bloat off my phone the instant I get home from vacay (and off this stupid mac) and NEVER looking back? Absolutely.
And to the 803 guys and gals, I make no claims to be an expert by any means, but from the little reading I have done so far, the main difference between the models seems to be in the bootloader not the rom, so if that's the case you're bound to have someone up there willing to compile CM or whathaveyou for the 803... it just might not be "official."

*off topic* CM and PAC are both official for the rocket, so is Carbon and Slim Bean. That community is awesome and I still find myself visiting it daily. Team chopsticks already have a pretty stable alpha 2 version of cm11 up for the ol' 727 and, you're right, there are a ton of hobbyists in that community that have brought just about every rom you could want.
I'm just worried about getting myself into a situation where AOSP ROMs aren't working out or have problems. What's the main diff between T-Mobile (D801), AT&T (D800), and international (D802)? Does international work on US LTE? Does the Loki patch and CM 10.2 absolutely work on the T-Mobile version?

What exactly does that mean as far as Pac Rom availability for the Nexus 5?

That there is already someone assigned to set up PAC 4.4 for Nexus 5, and as soon as Nightlies starts to be released you will have it. PAC team is already merging somethings before release builds

A maintainer is someone who is working on and will eventually post the release correct? I did notice PA nightlies get released so hopefully Pac will come out soon.
You can build the rom yourself from source. I've been using it for a bit and its working well.
Awww I almost thought this was the official ROM for the Nexus 5 because Google wasn't showing the entire title in the search. Can't wait for this!
sign me up too
Any updates on the progress of this?
Definitely can't wait till it hits my best friend has it on his Atrix HD and loves it guess I will stick with beanstalk till it drops

looking forward to pacrom! as im new to the custom rom world im extremely excited having never experienced it
As much as I want PACROM, I know that it's probably going to be a while till we get it. PA and AOKP both don't even have all their features for hammerhead yet weird since the nexus line is as open as it gets lol

Actually, we are pretty close to a release and just have some settings related stuff to sort out before we release. The release of features from roms like PA do not have any impact on our release timeline as those features will be merged into PAC after they have finished/released it. As for your device being a Nexus, this again does not affect the release timeline for your device. Features are added onto Android itself, not ported to each device individually.
Oh this is great to hear... Been waiting since I got my n5 to hear some news for Pacman on it...
First used Pac on my blaze, than my s3.... Cannot wait for my N5 to get it!!
pacman is one of my favorite roms by far. because its a mashup of everything and you get so much more. I cant wait till it drops so i can flash on my N5
I'm wondering how the merge will go for CM into PAC considering they made all these changes to the core and kernel and many major kernel devs have given up support for it... Hope it's extra features can be merged successfully...

I built from what they have on github and they already have the CM features implemented. There's not much else but that's understandable seeing the shape of PA and AOKP with their features but I don't think adding CM features is going to be to difficult

Any new news on this...?? CM just had their 3rd milestone...

Its all good. The longer it takes to release, the better it will be (hopefully, right)... PA and AOKP both are still working on their own features as well.

Is anyone slightly annoyed about the current cyanogen situation?

Here we are with our Moto X Style/Pure Edition way after it has been released. We have been given no confirmation by cyanogen that it will ever officialy support our phones. Their is a semi-working version of cyanogen if you build it yourself... What a chicks me is that the Moto e and g 2015 both run cyanogen 13 (albeit unofficial) and officially support cyanogen 12.1 so I'm just kinda curious if anyone else is slightly annoyed?
No, it'll be here when its ready.
I'm happy enough using Xposed.
AICP is pretty sweet.
Here's a good way to stop development dead in its tracks...

Yeah, AICP is CM based so it has all CM features.
In addition, CM will be officially supported for this device when all the tiny bugs we have left are fixed. (Mainly the Sprint bugs)
Take your time Hash. I'd rather it take longer and be right than quick and super buggy.

No, it doesn't slightly annoy me. But you making a thread like this may slightly annoy those who are in the process of developing an official CM build. Want one quicker? Learn Java, Android development, and help them out!

If you want a job doing, do it yourself. Otherwise, buy a phone that is already supported, or sit tight and wait in the hope that it will get CM (quite likely it will arrive sooner or later).

Dear devs. Please ignore this thread... Most of us are grateful.

Really? What a waste of a thread.
Want it here and now? Go do it yourself. Otherwise, wait in line just like everyone else.
no. cyanogenmod is boring. i'd rather flash another.

Just another noob. Gots to get his post count up. I really suggest you rethink your current position. Only 3 posts and this is what you come up with. WTF is wrong with people like you. Why must there always be that one post that pisses me off and I am not a Dev. I support what there doing with donations when I can. I suggest you do the same, then sit back and watch the magic happen. Patience is a virtue. Thanks devs for all your hard work the majority of us appreciate it.
To answer your question, no. Not even slightly annoyed...
The only thing annoying is the OP's impatience. How completely ungrateful.
And .... 3,2,1 closed.
Going nowhere, fast.
