I tried to build cm9.2 (ics) systemui with eclipse.but it showed more than thousand errors.how to solve this problem
Sent from my GT-S5570 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
As far as I know, building the system UI is not possible without building the whole ROM or at least having it in the complete ROM tree.
So no way other than ubuntu?and downloading GB's of sources?

Well, you could run it in a VirtualBox. But I think that there is no other way. (I use it as my only OS btw.)

Actually you can build it in eclipse itself. Remove the internal references and replace them by alternatives if needed. Again, use reflection as and when required although its not recommended. I've done it before and it works perfectly.

System apps use many of the internal references which are not available by the SDK for example com.android.internal.*, the ones denoted by @hide, etc.
Either patch up your SDK with internal references or use workarounds to make it compile.
So i can i patch the sdk?

Try Carbon app. It allows you to back up apps and their settings without root.
Here's a link to the Play Store page: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...gle&utm_medium=organic&utm_term=carbon+backup

I didn't like the fact that you have to pay for the premium version. Storage is through USB on the N4 otherwise.

Backup using Carbon, then transfer the backup files to your PC. Then when you're ready, copy them back and restore.
Besides, what's so bad about having to pay a few bucks for such a great app? All devs work hard to make the apps/mods/ROMs/kernels, etc that they do!

I tried to use fragmant tab+swipe layout default coding by eclipse but it doesnt allows to link activities in the tabs. Is there any way to do it?
I mean swiping the screen links to different activity
Sent from my GT-S5570 using xda premium
Are you talking about each tab hosting a different activity/fragment? then yes, it works.
If not, explain.

Could anybody do this? I've tried following tutorials using both Ubuntu and windows and I can never get the system ui to compile again. I am willing to pay for it. Device I'm using is D800. Though I don't think it matters since its just a systemui edit

Yeah - editing apks without decompiling generally doesn't work. I finally got it to recompile after I changed the status bar xml stuff, however, I was greeted by force closes galore.

Some of us do have crappy connections with crappy upload speeds, you know?
Plus, your attitude won't help you in any way. Oh, and in the 6 days you could've gotten all those apps in other ways.

by not being lazy and learning to look around no offense anyways, you can use this guide to get the system.img for whatever kdz firmware you want the apps from and then use ext2explore to save it as a folder and then just grab all the stuff you want from there
Doesnt work, the program say, that my system.img isnt an image

you are using the ext2explore part of the guide and not the ext4unpacker, the system.img is already in ext4 format all you need to do is open it with ext2explore and then save it as a folder so that you can grab the files you need
People in this forum that are in the know, and just know a thing or two about a thing or two! How did he get a reply lmao
