Hi everybody. I just wonder if is it safe to flash csc from n900 to n9005. As many of us bought the 4G note 3 for its amazing SD800, but they live in counties where only HSPA+ N900 is available.
Maybe we can share our personal experience in the matter.
Feel free to add complement information. This would help a lot of people here.

I'd imagine someone has done it, however as for the end result... well it's a MASSIVE risk on a £600 + device.

I don't think so. As it's mostly xml files that include configurations relative to county's carriers. I don't think it has direct effect on the hardware

I purchased a nexus 7 as a gift for a family member that lives overseas. Is there anything that will be affected in terms of updates and or general usage aside from the charger? I don't want to give them a headache if I can avoid it, so any info would be a big help before sending it. So is there no change in the software at all? I apologize I am new to anything nexus as I am mainly familiar with Samsung stuff. I know for instance the galaxy note 10.1 has ics in usa officially and Germany already has Jellybean. are updates like that likely to be the same?

As far as I know,
I'm going to Asia next few months ( in this case, we use Asia for example) and I called Google regarding my concerns. What I know is that the
GPS and navigation will definitely work.
The play store seem like only the app will work, Movie/music/TVshow/ magazine will not work if I did not remember anything wrong.
Android updates for the Nexus 7 will be continued I think. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hello. Long time Android & XDA user here.
My old Motorola Atrix 4G is finally starting to die. So I decided to go out and start looking at a new phones.
Phones im considering:
1. Samsung Galaxy Note 2
2. Samsung Galaxy S4
3. Samsung Galaxy S4 Active
Now a liitle about me. Im a computer tech, I know a good bit about linux and windows OS. I sometimes for my job have to remote into servers to fix issues. Mainly Windows servers. Because of this I am already testing the Galaxy Note 2. I like the big screen and battery. But it is big. Maybe too big?
I also would and have flashed my previous phones to better roms so I would say a strong development community for the phone is a must. The more roms (stable) the better in my option.
I like the S4 because of the camera and the S4 Active for the "water resistant" & dust proof. I also like the IR blaster, something the note 2 lacks and the higher processor power.
My question at the end of the day is im looking for a phone that:
A. Has good remote desktop resolution
B. Good development community for roms
C. Maybe IR blaster
D. Resonable battery life
Im thinking the S4 Active but how stable is it compared to the S4?

The active is nothing to write home about. It is garbage to many people and a failure on Samsung's part.
My wife has the Note 2. Huge screen. Not too big for the hands, fast and reliable, but bulky in an otter box. She is completely stock.
I have the S4. I was lucky enough to get it shipped directly from AT&T with MDL so I am able to flash all the ROMs I want from both The AT&T and T-Mobile forums. If i were to have gotten MF3, I would only be able to root.

That is entirely up to you. I personally love the S4. It smokes every phone out there and will probably continue to do so for the next year.

Too be completely honest go with a nexus 4 or the nexus 5 when it comes out. The s4 doesn't feel that much powerful. I still get lag and such. I came from a 1core family phones both Inspire and Infuse, but I jsut am not feeling it. If you want support you better get a T-mobile phone that has an unlocked bootloader because the s4 along with the note 3 has a locked bootloader.

I don't have any lag. Disabled animations and debloat as well as a few things like greenify help a huge amount. Android is made to customize. It is up to the user to do so.
The S4 is the top dog. Much better than the N4 on every aspect. Even on stock with locked bootloaders, the S4 destroys it.

I'm on a custom rom but I still don't feel it. The amoled screen really sucks. I always have it on full brightness but I can't see it outside at all. The battery life works for me as I have three other batteries. The camera is only good on TW as are other phones.

Do yourself a favor (if you haven't already done so) and read the "pinned" threads in the general and Q & A sections. It doesn't matter how much you know or don't know already, those threads contain information that needs to be known for this specific model phone.

Dear Mods,
I know I'm not alone when I say this, but we would like our own forum for our Canadian variant of our device. As our device is significantly different from other variants, and nobody likes specific projects for N900W8 to be jumbled along with ROMs for N900 or N9005 (as they can't be installed on a W8 device without major issues), I would like to start a poll to gather people who would like a clean forum, not a forum with three different variant's ROMs jumbled up together that aren't cross flashable.
Also asking questions and finding solutions is easier when the entire forum uses the same device, so a solution for the specific device is much more convenient in the same forum!

Just be aware that it looks to not be compatible with any if the ones with their own forum as of yet....maybe with custom roms or a custom installer but not now

It's because the model from bell also has w8, so was thinking maybe all Canadian models are the same

Bell/telus..rogers/fido probably.
Wind runs on diff frequencies. ..people on wind dont even get LTE. having this phone and no lte is like having a ferrrari but you cant take it out of first gear!
At the very least wind users will need to flash another baseband to run a rogers or bell ROM

I'm just wondering, would it be possible to eventually kind of convert the Canadian Note 3 variant into an American variant? I don't think I've read about any hardware differences between the two variants. Also, I can't imagine there would be too much development for just the Canadian Note 3 alone (or has there been an active developer community for Canadian devices previously?).

Just remind every one, not only Canadian is using N900W8, N900W8 is a very large group. Mexico, Many South America country is using N900W8 too.

But now the model name is big difference, dont know if the hardware has different or is bootloader lock or not difference.

Yeah that's why there's a / in the title too
That raises a question too. Is the Wind version of W8 actually the same as the Robellus W8? Even though numbers match up, we won't know till we can compare the stock ROMs with each other.

I have one, but I own the E330S variant from SK Telecom, it's just so smooth since I just switch from the international Note 2 N7100
Can't wait to see the Dev's working on this awesome beast of a device
So far, I'm still content with the standard ROM, although it's packed with the Korean carrier's bloatware..
Just now I see in SamMobile there's already the 4.3 update for the SHV-E330S, but I'm still waiting from you guys for news concerning the development of this device...

My Note 3 is bought from Russia. It is the Snapdragon version with LTE (N9005). However, I do not know about 4G availability there.
