Loose Power Button - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is the power button on the Droid RAZR M supposed to be loose and wiggle a little bit? Mine is somewhat loose, but still clicks fine. Can someone confirm this and/or let me know how your power button is. Thanks!!

Mine wiggles a bit. I can push it down just about all the way flush with the body without triggering the button. I can also push only one side of the button down flush without triggering the button either. Compared with my volume button which has almost no give/motion to it, the power button is very loose on mine.

My power button isn't quite as firmly seated as the volume rockers. I wouldn't go so far as to call it loose, and it doesn't sit flush with the case. Perhaps too much English was used during a stressful moment? Is your device under warranty?

Top/Power button 'problem'

So I'm having this minor issue with the Legend, or rather, the power button.
The button seems to be very hard to press down on the right side, and very loose on the left side.
I don't know if this is how it's supposed to 'feel', which is the point of this post.
Do you guys have any problems with the power button?
It feels as if there's a 'gap' between the surface the button is supposed to press against when you press on the loose end (left side of the button).
Also makes a click sound when you press is softly (phone is not activated)
If that makes any sense
Power button on my legend is firm on both sides. Maybe you got a factory defective phone?

mine is also a little bit looser on the left side. but not much. its not a problem in my opinion...

my home button is kinda like this sloppy on the left and the actual button fells like its on the right.
I fear its a dud button but I don't want to send my legend back to the UK from Australia

i think that it is normal. mine is the same goes also for the search button...
same as Tillertow
but I did not use that bottom usually (except power on phone)
I have install Lock 2.0 to use other bottom to wake up the phone.

power button sticking

i just bought a used Droid incredible and i have had it for about 3 days and i have noticed something about the power button at the top. the power button doesnt "click" when pushed down like the volume buttons do at the side, it just goes down. its kind of annoying is there a way to fix it or something? are of them like this or is it just mine? if you have a droid incredible can you tell me if the power button clicks like the volume buttons do when you press it or does it stick like mine?
The power button does feel like the clicks in the volume buttons.
whenever my phone comes in contact with a lot of sand, the power button gets mushy like that. yes its supposed to click like the volume buttons. try cleaning it out and see if it helps
what do i do to clean it out? also is there a way i cant just remove the 4 screws on the back open up my phone and clean the power button from there? i think that would be easier because i can make sure there is nothing stuck down there. but the only problem is the VOID warranty sticket is on one of the screws and i dont want my warrenty to be voided because i just bought this phone.
so does anyone know how i should remove that sticker and put it back on the phone without ruining it?
You can use an exacto knife to peel it off, the topic is in here somewhere

Power button fried on G2.. how to reach phone reboot/shutoff options?

So my phone overheated (my fault) and the power button is broken, as well as the hardware keyboard. (Functional but inaccurate most the time) I can reboot my phone by pulling the battery, but don't know how to reach the power options menu that used to be reached via the power button. Its been like this for some time now, but yesterday, I pulled my phone from my pocket and saw the power options menu on the screen. (Reboot, Shut Off, Recovery, Bootloader)
Thing is, I have NO idea how that happened. Since I cant turn the screen off manually, things get inadvertently "pushed" when I put it in my pocket before screen times itself out. So obviously there is a way to reach the power menu without the power button working. Anyone here have any idea how to do that? I would greatly appreciate any help!
well your power button must sometimes work, pulling the battery will of course turn it off but you would need to press the power button to turn it on
probably just sticky, open it up and use some electric parts cleaner or rubbing alcohol to clen up he button, fully dry it and then see if it works better

No, power button absolutely does not work. Its been fried for about 2 months now. I already tried all the tricks. Pulling the battery (for some reason) is how I reboot the phone. I can't really turn it "off" aside from leaving the battery out. As soon as I put it back in, the phone automatically turns on. This may be a fail safe measure in case the power button does break, as in my case. I'm just thinking there must be some way to reach that power menu other than power button.
well it isn't a fail safe, its just what happens when the power button is stuck on, the plastic button you touch is part of the case, this makes contact with the actual power button which is part of the motherboard.
from what you descriped you power button is stuck, but do as you please

I see what you are saying. If that is the case, not sure I have the tools or know-how to actually open my phone up. I just tried the tricks like burying it in dry rice to try and soak up moisture and whatnot. Due for a new phone in a few months anyway, just was curious if there is some shortcut via software that I'm not aware of.
if your phone is rooted there are apps that can creat shortcut icons on your screen to do most any key press. just search the market.
don't know of any rom with a built in feature like this so I'm sure the power button just became unstuck for a moment and then restuck

There's an app that is filled Buttonremapper, on xda here. Search it through Google. It lets you remap a key to any action you want

Soft power button?

Anyone else have a Galaxy S4 with a power button that feels really soft when pressed? My volume and home buttons both have a satisfying click while my power button just feels weak and pressing anywhere other than the center of the button feels like I'm not pressing anything at all. I tried my friend's phone out and it isn't like that for him.
If you have a case on it an awkward position of the press might make you think like that. That was my case anyway

The first thing I did was take it out of my case to test it out. Why wouldn't I?

[Q] Power Button problems: hearing and feeling click, but not responding. Dust?

I am having troubles with my Power Button.
It needs a lot more pressing strength to make it work than on my Galaxy Nexus.
I already heard this is a common problem, but:
I feel and hear a "click" from the button. With light pressure it is clicking but the button not responding - means the screen is not turning on.
When pressing harder (beyond the click) the screen goes on.
Is it possible that there is dust under the button?
Can this be repaired by disassembling the phone and cleaning a little bit?
Or do I have to change the button to get it back working properly?
Might wanna see this
