I have been using goo manager to reboot into recovery on my ls980 on a stock odex rom. I went into a bootloop while flashing a new Rom. I couldn't boot into recovery or factory erase mode using the methods that I've seen. I messed around with my phone for about an hour and finally got it to work.
What I have to do is hold power and volume down button at the same time, when the lg screen pops up release the volume down button while keeping the power button pressed. A splash screen will pop up saying entering recovery mode. It will then boot into recovery.
I searched xda and Google and haven't been able to find this method so if had already been covered I couldn't find it.

When attempting to enter recovery mode on my xt907, I get a sideways android figure with a red triangle instead of the normal recovery screen. I have not attempted to root the phone. Everything is stock. I usually boot into recovery once in a while to clear the cache. I have not changed anything since the last successful recovery boot. Any ideas?
Doesn't this always happen... then you have to press vol up and vol down to then enter the recovery menu... this should show you how to get in there... http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JtzubRAGMWc&desktop_uri=/watch?v=JtzubRAGMWc

In that screen, hold volume down and tap volume up to get into the recovery menu.
It's very strange - I can't get to recovery by holding down power + vol-up + home buttons. The message comes up that it's booting recovery but then disappears for a second and then either powers off or boots normally.
I can boot into recovery through the toolkit/odin/goomanager however and I've also found that I can boot into recovery if I first go into download mode, press vol-down to cancel download and boot normally and then immediately press the vol-up/power/home button combination.
I have TWRP installed but I previously had philz CWM and this problem happened with both. If i remember rightly the first recovery I tried to install was the original CWM with odin but when I booted into recovery it was still the stock recovery. I'm not sure if this information is necessary though.
Can anyone help me with this or why this could be happening?

When was the last time you updated SuperSU?
Go to the playstore and download/install the latest version reboot the phone normally and after reboot reboot into recovery.
Good luck!
Thanks, that worked. I can now get into recovery with the button combo.

Well...not permanently. I can boot out of it.
I just rooted successfully with the method here.
When I boot into recovery, I see the horizontal android with his chest open and a red triangle. I can boot up by holding the volume (either up or down) and the power button.
ClockworkMod tells me I have both clockworkmod and TWRP installed. How do I successfully boot into Recovery?
Thanks guys!
Boot into recovery with vol down+power then use the vol rocker to cycle to recovery mode. Use power button to execute. Pretty sure it says all that when you see the android screen..

Thanks but I don't have that option in Recovery.
An update: I followed the instructions here about installing a recovery tool by pushing it through adb. What I get now is the following:
[730] Fastboot Mode Started
[780] udc_start()
Is this a soft brick? If so, how do I reverse it? I'm very frustrated!
Thanks,
Phil

Can you get into download mode? Volume up + power. If so next go to lg g2 general forum and read the flash lg g2 to stock.
If your stuck in fast boot then there is another hoop to jump through. I'll get you the info in The morning.

Download mode does work. I'll go through the steps you referred to. Thanks.

Almost there. Got it rerooted, successfully installed TWRP. Flashed cyanogenmod (newest nightly). Forgot to install GAPPS though!
I don't see an option to reboot into recovery from cyanogenmod.
What's the process for rebooting into recovery? I've tried different combinations with the volume and power buttons but it doesn't seem to work.
Thanks,
Phil

recovery is volume down + power
I just rooted my Nexus using Wug's toolkit. When I got to the part after you unlock where you have to hold power and volume up to wipe the device, nothing happened and I got stuck in a bootloop. I fixed it by using the toolkit to revert to an OEM image, but even when it was stock, power and volume up does nothing. Am I missing the stock recovery?
Are you sure you're not hitting power down?
Holding volume up while powering on the device brings you to bootloader mode, from here you can get to recovery. Even if you had no recovery it would get you to bootloader mode. And if you had no bootloader the tablet would show zero signs of life whatsoever
So either you're not pressing keys correct or keys are broken
Also I would advice to stay away from toolkits, often these are far more trouble than they are worth, especially for nexus devices.
If you are able to boot to your stock os, which it sounds like you can, turn on USB debugging and open a terminal on PC
adb reboot bootloader
Get you to the same spot as the key press does

Hi,
I've tried every combination of key presses. I can get to the bootloader and select recovery, I get to the android with red exclamation point but volume + power up just reboots the tablet. Volume + power down gets me to the bootloader with just "Start" and "Downloading, do not turn off target". The tab is working fine with root applied, I just can't get to stock recovery.
Hi,
When the android with red exclamation mark appears you have to press Power and after some seconds (while holding power) you press volume up. If that doesn't do the work try flashing stock recovery again .

Thanks, but I tried that button press with no luck and even tried an app which claims to boot into recovery to no avail. It seems to be missing. I've also tried flashing stock recovery with wug's toolkit and it still seems to not be there. Not sure whether I should flash a custom recovery or whether that will mess things up further
I wouldn't use a toolkit, just use fastboot. And I would recommend a custom recovery such as twrp as it has far more options stock is okay too
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
Now you can just boot to new recovery from bootloader or when in the os just use adb if you're having issues
adb reboot recovery

Help me cant get this phone working, Donkey brains here flashed a KK boot image in twrp now just boot loops, my current rom is 4.2.2, I can not hold -down + power key to enter twrp, Only thing I can enter is download mode. I have tryed the lg flash tool and had no luck. Only had the phone a day :crying:
Volume up + power will eventually get you to a screen where it asks you if you want to factory reset, idk how many times but youll get to it eventually..
