Those aren't zips...
To the OP, OTA updates don't wipe your internal storage. Just install 4.4 stock and wait for those.

stock file
As far as I've been able to research it... Installing the stock 4.4.x from a 4.3 rom will require a complete erasure of the data on your internal storage.
My choice is a Titanium backup and transferring the files to a safe place. Followed by a nandroid backup - again stored off-phone it is perhaps belt and suspenders level, but when it hits the fan.. that is when you will be really happy you made the effort.
I did the factory rom 4.41 using fastboot.. and waited for the OTA to 4.4.2 --(file from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images‎)

Coming from a custom rom, it would probably be a good idea to do a system data wipe. Otherwise, on stock 4.3, you could just dirty flash and wipe the dalvik cache.

Ways to go back to Stock from PA?

Hi,
I am about to flash the PA rom on my N4 but before doing that I need to know how easier I can come back to my stock setup.
I have made a complete nandroid backup but I am not sure if that will work. My baseband and bootloader are already latest versions so that's that.
Actually I'm not sure if flashing the stock rom back is the only way so need to confirm that.
Thanks!
You can either go back to stock by flashing the stock nexus 4 images, or by restoring your nandroid backup that you created while you are on stock ROM.

Or you can simply download the deodexed stock 4.2.2 ROM and flash it via recovery. Just wipe cache and dalvik cache.

But it isn't really stock because he won't get OTA's if the rom is deodexed, right?

not sure why this isn't posted in a sticky in this forum.. But there you go.
Its easy to follow. Step by step with links for the downloads you'll need.

If you flash a stock ROM from XDA whether its deodexed or odexed it won't install ota because its signed differently

Thank you so much for your helpful responses, I was able to "test" and successfully restore my previous setup using a nandroid backup so no need to flash stock images/firmwares
So, we have two options when we want to go back to previous rom:
1. Either flash a factory image as mentioned (which erases all the system data etc etc)
2. Make a nandroid backup before installing a custom rom and restore the backup if youre not happy with it
Cheers and Thanks again! :good:

A bit confused about OTA

I asked this questions in other threads, but i received literally opposite answers, so i decided to make a thread and explain my situation.
I am a noob and i installed twrp recovery and sabermod rom, before installing sabermod i made a nandroid backup of stock 4.2.2 rom,as you all know android 4.3 will be released soon, and i got some question:
1)If i restore my backup of stock 4.2.2 will i be able to update via OTA even if i have twrp recovery ?If yes will all be updated ? (radio, bootloader, rom ecc. ) and will i keep my custom recovery ?
2)If the answer to the first question is no ( i won't be able to update via OTA with twrp recovery) how can i update to 4.3 when it will be released?
A nandroid backup does not restore the bootloader or radio. Only system, data, and boot.
If no other modifications are made the ota will go through with a custom recovery.

Yes i know that a nandroid backup doesn't restore bootoader and radio, my question was if an OTA will update bootloader and radio in addition to the rom, i guess yes right ?
In your thread i think to be in scenario 2, so i need to flash the ota via custom recovery instead of getting automatically updated like in stock rom ?
If the ota has a new bootloader and radio it will as long as your have the up-to-date versions installed.

Going from JWR66N to JWR66Y w/ TWRP?

Im looking to go to the newest build of 4.3 which is JWR66Y from my current JWR66N leaked build and I've tried flashing the zip which is
JWR66V from JWR66N
then I would flash
JWR66Y from JWR66V
but those OTA's are for stock non rooted devices AFAIK and it refuses to flash/update
I've looked around and not sure what I need to do? Maybe a adb sideload?
Please inform me of whats needed.
There are at least 5 threads where this is explained. Look around a little more
N4 4.3+Franco+LTE
My suggestion would be to flash the stock rom already rooted in recovery. I dirty flashed from the leaked N build to the V build and then did a dirty flash to the current Y build. You can flash directly to the Y build from the N build. Just wipe dalvik cache after flashing. More than likely you won't even lose root, I didn't. But if you do, just flash the SuperSU zip in recovery. Here is a link to the stock rooted rom I am using:

If I do that will I loose everything? Also before I do any of this what is the biggest change from the JWR66N to the JWR66V?
I know that the Y release is just a security update but what about the V?

If you dirty flash, meaning don't wipe data, you will lose nothing but mods to system and apps pushed to system. User apps and data will still be there. Build N to V is an assortment of enhancements and fixes. Mileage will vary. Search around for some threads that detail the these.

Update 4.4 to 4.4.2

I just received the OTA update of 4.4.2 so I wanted to know what exactly I have to do to update without any errors. I'm Rooted on Stock 4.4 with unlocked Bootloader and Custom Recovery TWRP and also I have the LTE hack enabled. Do I just fastboot flash stock recovery and let it update through OTA or do I have to push the original build.prop from 4.4 too because of the LTE hack? I really don't want to factory reset because I had to do that before in order to update from 4.3 to 4.4. Thanks in advance guys.

I literally just flashed from 4.4 to 4.4.2 by flashing the entire factory image. I didn't lose any data. Same boat as you, rooted and using TWRP with LTE hack.

Downloaded the 435mb OCCAM KOT49H factory image from google? Then you put the entire .zip on the sdcard and flash it through twrp? Is that it?
I'm rooted and have twrp also, but i don't know if i can just flash the full factory image. I want to be stock and rooted!
Thank you!
EDIT: Sorry, i have found the solution in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145848
I didn't know you could download these files and use them as "manual OTA update"..
Thanks again

[Q] [DOWNGRADE] Safe method to downgrade ?

I want to downgrade my Nexus from 4.4.2 (Omni nightly) to 4.3.1 (any custom rom). I tried flashing 4.3.1 PSX but was stuck in a bootloop. So I want to know the safest method to downgrade to 4.3.1 ?

have you ever tried to format dalvik cache?
I don't think it is possible if you directly do that thru custom rom. since you have the updated version of os. I think the best way is to turn back your os to 4.3 first then you can have your custom rom installed.
but lets just see what others can say about it. I also have this problem when I tried to revert back my os directly from 4.4.2 to 4.2.2 using lewa os5.

I always use the recovery to downgrade, wiping data of course before flashing. The last downgrade that i've made was from 4.4 to 4.2.2 and i havent notice any issue after that...
Dey better hai toolkit mat use kar, CWM/TWRP se pura dalvic aur data cache wipe kar phir vanilla method laga ie. fastboot se stock image flash kar

Yes everything will be wiped. Google automatically backups your calendar, emails, contacts, Wi-Fi passwords, bookmarks for Chrome. However, things like sms messages, pictures, save games, music, ringtones or any other type of files stored on the nexus 4 are not backed up automatically. Make sure to backup those manually by using a third party app or directly coping it to your computer.
