1.flash the kernel from secure to insecure through ODIN
2.root the OS with S2Root_1.5.1
3.reflashed with original kernel to remove yellow icon while booting(optional)

4.Install Spooffw from market( it requires root access.the reason why we root before doing this)
5.Open Spooffw app and select Nordic region preset ,follow the steps in that app (which change the phones internal files to make it look like its from Nordic countries)
6.Connect to PC ->Open KIES found that it shows 2.3.5 XXKI4 update is available .
7.upgrade the firmware.
But i lost the root access . Gotta root again (follow first three steps) if i need root access again
Why not flash 2.3.5 using Odin? Alot less steps and twice as quick.

Thanks for mentioning that app. I'll follow that method next time I wanna upgrade.
PS- Changing the region won't delete my data, right?
No, Kies does not wipe data.
Can anyone else confirm?

Note that, You will have to do the same when Official Indina version gets released !!!
Steps you did will update your model id ... which makes is diificult to get official version from Kies ... So in order to restore that footprint you will have to again update your Model ID with SpoofFW...
I tried this a lot with My Galaxy S....
I would simply prefer ODIN method ... and You can easily detect if ROM you are about to flash will Wipe or Not. ...
1) Single File , No Wipe
2) 3 Files , Full Wipe.

You should not do that ... Dont know , What will two files do !!!
But When you flash new ROM, theses two points can detect Wiping... ROM Will never have two files ... !
Flashing two files might work or might not work ! ... Normally PDA holds Wipe details ... if i am wrong.

Why? Titanium backup Rox.
Dude, whats the point in updating to XXKI4 via kies? , ITs still an european firmware. also its already available here in our forums, you can simply flash it via mobile odin.
I guess it makes sense in one way: for someone who wants the latest "Indian" firmware via Kies but can't get it because he/she flashed a firmware via ODIN before.
Of course, this is assuming folks in India will actually get an updated firmware soon :-D
Basically the SpoofFW app enables Kies to recognize your firmware as something that is upgradeable. Not particularly useful for most of us on XDA, but great if someone wants to stop screwing around with flashing firmwares and go back to Kies-enabled stock.
the app using an spoofing is easy an i had done it for sgs1 but had to reverse it wen official fw arrieved...an odin dint wipe my data (untick the partition)but some fw did wipe my data....i say odin is good an fast..dont exp wiv sgs2...but u got a no of custum roms to flash....cheeerz

Hey guys,
So basically, i rooted using using a guide i found here on XDA, worked great, did it with CWM.zip and SU-Busybox-Installer.zip, Went real easy for a noob like me!
The problem ive got now, i dont seem to have a proper copy of CMW recovery installed, just the stock recovery.
This wouldnt be too much of a problem, however i read the follow :
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/insta...xy-note-on-xxlpy-ice-cream-sandwich-firmware/
This is worrying, it sounds to be more difficult to install a proper CMW recovery than it is too root on this build number : IML74K.XXLPY
Overall, all im aiming for this Kernel :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749863
And this ROM :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716088
(Performance, stock rom with a little OC basically, if you know easier/better combinations, please link them!)
If any of u clever folk know where i can find me some idiot friendly information/links/guides to pull what (I think) is a mammoth task, please feel free to point me in the right way.
Thanks in advance, Sorry for what might seem like daft questions
Is downgrading to GB a must or can i just install a new ROM with mobile ODIN pro?

*#272*Device IMEI# works for me, should have guessed that it was the netherlands GB rom, CSC 'zen', ill download that tonight then.and all i gotta do is flash with pc odin?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
What you should do is:
- Download a GB rom from SamMobile, Preferably a directly rootable one (i suggest KKA).
- Download ODIN
- Flash the GB Rom via Odin (open the rom in the PDA section), don't worry flashing an official rom wont raise your flash counter.
- Download the InitialCFRootFlasher.zip and this CF-Root Kernel.
- Extract the files (repeat for the zImage).
- Place the zImage file from the CF-Root kernel in the zImage folder from InitialRootFlasher.
- Start "not-rooted-yet.bat" and follow the instructions.
When finished you will have a rooted GB rom.
Next you would like to flash the ICS LPY Rom.
- Download the LPY ROM.
- Download the CF-Root Kernel.
- Extract the files (repeat for the zImage)
- Place both files on your SD card.
- Install MobileOdin.
- Install the Device Specific files.
- Press 'Open File' and select the LPY Rom.
- Press 'Kernel' and select the zImage.
- Enable EverRoot, SuperSU , Inject Mobile ODIN and Wipe Dalvic cache.
- Flash firmware.
When rebooted you will have a rooted LPY rom with CWM and busybox.
Dont mix the zImages up or else your screwed.
I do not take credit for this tutorial ,this is thanks to Chainfire and his hard work so if you like it, please donate to him.

These CF-Root kernels are stock kernels modified by Chainfire. He pre-rooted the kernel and added CWM, BusyBox and SuperSU. These kernels are considered safe if you stick to the tutorial by the letter!!.

Hey guys, followed by the book, cant even get past the initial setup screen, just crashes every application it tries to start as soon as i 'press the android', so im stuck at the moment, hopefully its not beyond rescue!
EDITED: So, i did a factory reset as i was already GB, works fine, flashed ICS LPY with mobile odin, got CWM and busybox, now its time to flash the custom ROM, which option in PC odin so i select for choosing the kernel zimage?
is it bootload/pda/phone or csc. according to the guide for the rom im interested in which is in my OP, i need to flash kernel FIRST
thanks so far guys, all the information has been correct and im almost done
One more thing though, the samsung keyboard is still typing null on key entry on this ICS also, is this something i should worry about? i prefer swiftkey either way!
Im now running a custom ROM and Kernel, scary stuff, but so much more comfortable with the process now, this is due to Lodi and Baz77, Many thanks to you both!

When you install with PC Odin you have to reinstall Kernel/Mods/Themes. If the India Rom is a no-wipe your data will not be touched. So: yes you can install (and should do so), but your LSZ specific thins will be erased/overwritten.

I dont have an AT&T Note 3 but I am willing to walk someone through how to grab them (you must still be MJ5 or lower) C'mon guys this ia community where we're supposed to help each other. If you look at my posts you can see I've posted countless Odin tars for the Galaxy S4. I dont want any of the downgrade tars or one clicks, and yes I know how to make them and and I know what they do, I just want the original unaltered files. I will post them for everyone via AFH if someone is willing to grab the OTA.zip and/or Odin tars. If you have them please post them. Id also be willing to make a stock deodex rom if thats what It takes. If these are already posted somewhere can someone direct me to them? I couldnt find a post that had them.
To get the Odin tars:
1. Google and download Kies and Fus Downloader
2. post here and il give more directions
To grab the OTA.zip:
1. Download the zip from the update notification and make sure you are rooted
2. go to /cache/fota or /fota and upload the update.zip then delete or move the ota from /cache or /fota so that you dont accidently update if you dont want to
bump
From the nb4 update thread
It fails out for me, likely because I've deleted some of the bloat I'm guessing. Deletes when it reboots, but the next time it finishes downloading I'll choose the Safestrap recovery when it's booting and copy it out. /cache/fota/2400258.cfg correct? that seems to be the only file that's growing during the download.

Stupid question...
What do I do with these files? Are they Odin files? Sorry... just returning from the dark side (apple) after almost a year. I just want a taste of this new update. :silly:
Those are the OTA cfg (or zip - they have to be named zip to sideload them) files from before I know what version to MI1 to MI9 to ... up to 4.42. What the thread originally asked for.

So I can abd side load these and it'll install that version of the firmware? Sorry for all the dumb questions... Never had this problem with my GTN7100.
My understanding is that you can put the file on your external sd card (if you have one), boot to recovery, go to install zip from external source (I think that's the wording) and install from there, or you can sideload with adb.
Start with the file one version above the one you're on and keep going until you get to NB4.
But wait for confirmation from someone who actually knows what he's talking about. I've sold phones, I've repaired phones, I've written huge software systems, but I'm not anywhere near being a cellphone dev.
(After that it's your choice whether to go on to KK or not. I'm not giving up root and Safestrap for a slight increase in speed that I don't need anyway.)
We waiting for you ^^. My Note 3 get leak version 4.4.2 and i have just restore it to MJ5 follow the turial in forum but after that i read some disscusion thread i know that many people can't update OTA to 4.4.2. So i decide waiting your product.

1. Patching files using adb. Look here
2. Extracting Patching lines & Delete lines from updater script. Here is bash script.
3. Patching on linux (Much faster than adb) Look at this thread and also this post from thread.
4. Extracting files from .ext4 here
5. Odin packages.
So... Are you looking to make it possible to downgrade? Or... Yeah...
If so, I am willing to test.
