Won't Connect To Google - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have purchased a nexus 5, wiped my nexus 4 and gave it to my friend. It's not connecting to google anyway I try. I even wiped it again. Its running 4.3 stock but its rooted.

Define "It's not connecting to Google anything I try." please. When you open up your Chrome does it show Google's start page?

Failing to update to 4.2. from 4.1.2 (JZO54K to JOP40C)

The device is stock.
Update fails and gives the error .
assert failed: apply_patch_check("EMMC:/dev/b*lock/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/by*-name/LNX:5013504:c48f8e86c73f*b2c2ba1794f5ec98e27c9e206ed5:5*060608:319331fae14fec8a8806375*1475fce26bae328e0")
Tried restoring factory settings, downloading manually, clearing data from google services framework to force push the update over and over again.
When receiving OTA update, it starts fine and at about 1/3 of the update the android falls on its side and has a red triangle with an exclamation point on it. If I boot to recovery from that it shows me the error mentioned above, same as trying to sideload through adb.
In need of advice or should I just go return the damn thing and get a new one?

Nexus 4 on 4.3 dialer suggestions not working

Well I read that in the 4.3 update we were supposed to be able to start typing in the dialer and suggestions pop up as to who we are trying to call I waited for the OTA finally got it like a week ago but I noticed that, that feature does not work on my phone its basically just like it was on 4.2.2 I'm running stock unrooted. Is there a way I'm pose to enable it or something? I'm trying to get this resolved without having to factory reset my phone because it will erase my internal storage, any help will be greatly appreciated thanks

Bought a Nexus 4, but am worried now.

I just purchased a Nexus 4 and upon checking out the device I noticed the model number says Full JellyBean on Mako. What does this mean?

Mako is the code name given for the nexus 4 device. Jelly Bean is an Android release.
Mine said: Nexus 4. Did you buy it new or used. If used and you're worried, just flash the factory stock 4.3 image which will erase everything previously.

I bought it off of Craigslist. Person listed it as new, still had the plastic on it.

Most likely a custom rom. It doesn't look like the kernel is stock kernel to me. It's safest to do a full wipe and factory reset. You should update to 4.3 anyway, use this guide:

I wasn't able to update to 4.3, and my computer wasn't recognizing the phone either. However, after booting the phone into bootloader, my computer recognized it. So I unlocked it and am currently flash stock 4.3 onto it via Nexus Toolkit.
Hopefully it works out for you. However, try not to use toolkits in the future. If something goes wrong at some point you won't know what to do if you rely on toolkits. Learn the manual method of flashing.

I know how to manually flash and all that. It's just I already had Toolkit installed and just thought it would be quicker.

Yeah, just enable USB debugging and it should recognize. If USB debugging doesn't work (it should), try installing drivers again (manually).
Don't forget to hit "thanks"

OTA updates are always slow. If you want 4.4.2 now; download the image file and flash it via fastboot. Make sure to back up all your files to a computer.
