Sure but it's such a basic function it should just be default. It actually IS default on most manufacturers stock roms, but AT&T actually removes it. For example, Canadian One XLs have the ability to turn LTE off. AT&T version does not. Absolutely ridiculous for AT&T to go out of its way to remove that feature.

So it looks like you would be able to turn lte off when you connect to wifi? That would be great. If you have to configure it someone would have to tell me how to do it because i'm a ra-tard.

You have to apply the LTE hack in order to get LTE on TMobile.
LTE on Nexus 4 is not officially supported and was removed in a radio .48 and above.
So basically,
1. Flash a baseband that is older than .48 (such as .33, .29, etc).
2. Flash the voice fix
3. Build prop change.
This of course is very general, do some searching on XDA and you'll find what you need. #2 and #3 can be done via flashable zips, just find it. You'll probably find things out there that will show you how to manually do that but that is very time consuming, especially if you flash updates to roms which will override it.

just like any other radio, there exists many different frequencies. your htc could have been made to support your lte frequency, band 4 isnt very common. call and ask your provider if they support band 4. if they say they dont know what that is, then they dont support it.

I expect that they are the same or similar.
Thank you for the info.
Can't give you a difinitive answer one way or the other, but I notice that the one on the bell website is missing the ear speaker that my n5100 has. (It's a little silver strip of a speaker just above the samsung logo on the front) Not sure if this means it won't have the phone dialer etc., but it does mean that if you can make phone calls with it, they would have to be over a headset or on speakerphone. I can confirm that my n5100 with a bell sim can make phone calls just like a big (massive) phone.

I believe that the Bell and Tellus models use the same frequencies as the USA AT&T models, which have the phone app and speaker removed. If you want telephony capability, make sure you get the N5100, which will run HPSA but not LTE. The phone is readily available on Amazon and Ebay.

Yes the n5100 is wifi and 3g, the n5110 is wifi only, and the note n5120 is the lte 4g model. Ive just got my note 8 5100 im using it on vodaphone uk and im loving it. It does give me hand ache on long calls from stretching my hand to hold the phone, but i dont make that many calls. Im not 100% on this but im guessing the note 8 5120 lte/4g, supports calls just like the 3g version (n5100). With the note 2 there are 2 different versions a 3g note2 and a 4g lte note2 on the EE network... correct me if im wrong and it might vary in different countries im in the uk. But im guessing its the same with the note 8. A 3g version with calls (n5100), a wifi version(n5110), and a 4g version with calls(n5120)

Ok the n5120 has telephony and LTE. The OP is specifically interested in Canada. I'm pretty sure- correct me if I'm wrong, the n5120's bands are not optimized for the USA. Are you saying that it will work well (LTE and HDSPA speeds) in Canada?

Well all I can tell you is it works great. I just tested it, my phone was showing LTE, I placed a call, and when I was on the call I opened up internet and surfed a couple of pages, ran a speed test, and surfed facebook. So it is definitely something you are doing. You mention you are rooted, did you install a custom rom, which one? Your S3 had SVDO chip which allowed simultaneous data(3g) and voice. Sprint or Samsung got cheap and didn't include SVDO with the S4 because they hoped LTE would be more widespread by the time the phone was sold.

Double-check in your settings what mobile networks the phone can use. Specifically, make sure it's showing both CDMA AND LTE, and not just CDMA. For some reason, some ROMs default to just CDMA.

Well, if that's the case then your phone is broken and you should take it to Sprint and have them replace it. Your phone should definitely be able to access data when on a phone call if you are on LTE or WiFi.
