Yeah, you probably won't be able to use that method anymore. I'm pretty sure you can only use the Maps app itself now. If you tap the icon on the right-hand side of the search bar, that's navigation. I'm just guessing here, but there's probably an intent for it, so maybe somebody has written a little app using the old navigation icon that will launch Maps with that intent? Of course, you can also easily get to navigation by voice command. That may or may not be an option for you. I've been trying to use voice a little more, because it actually works really well.
Navigation blue icon missing
hi,
so this is normal behaivour of 4.4
this changes is very bad for me, classic navigation icon shoulb be. Voice method will be alternate new feature.
ı Hope this blue navigation icon is came .
thanks...
Ah, I think I just found something that's almost like the old navigation icon.
Tap and hold in any unused space of the screen. Pick Widgets, then add the widget called "Directions". It makes you enter something for the source and destination, but you can just use a single space for each, then tap Save. The new widget should do basically what the blue arrow used to do.
Navigation blue icon missing
yes, google directions are similar to navigation icon.
I test it it works well.
Thanks

I'd like to prevent my notifications and program "badges" (can't think of the proper word!) From stacking up in my notification bar at the top of the screen.
It happens when i have a lot of icons there already, ie wifi, alarm etc. Despite there being plenty of room in the middle of the bar, my notifications all stack into one icon on the extreme left hand side with the number of different programs/notifications shown as a number.
Is there a way to prevent this behaviour and force android to use all the available space on the notification bar?
I'm running Ion r2 on my Dream, although my phone has always done this, with the stock rom and JF 1.5 as well.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer!
Sure, keep the number of notifications low and they won't stack. They stack when you run out of space on the bar. I know you think that there's lots of space, but if you unstack them, rest assured that there are definitely too many to fit in the space available.

Unfortunatly there is no forseen solution to this problem. I experience it as well. I think the best we can hope for are new phones with higher resolutions.

This isn't right. There is definitely space for 4 more icons, yet it stacks with just 2.

I'm on Ionr2 and I have 4 icons (email, Toggle Settings, Twidroid, USB) on the left side before the stacking starts. I'm not sure if it's gone up to 5 or not.

When the phone is in portrait mode it stacks when there are more than 2 items on the left hand side - even though there is space for more items. When in landscape, it shows all the notifications/app icons individually.
Very annoying, since the home screen will only display in portrait mode and wont auto rotate when the phone is turned.
Im convinced there must be something i can do to fix this issue!

I was talking about portrait mode. I'm pretty sure there's a fix since I do not have this problem. However, my home screen does rotate though, since I have dxTop.
Do you happen to have Quick Calendar installed? Even though Quick Calendar did not display a little icon on the top for each item in the list and only say in my "ongoing" area on the bar, when I removed it the stacking you talk about went away! It was driving me crazy too, but it seems like either Quick Calendar or the OS sees each entry, even though it doesn't have an icon and counts them.
Not sure if it will help you, but my phone has been working properly after I disabled Quick Calendar. It's a shame, I like the app. :-/

Genius! Removing Quick Calendar solved the problem - thanks!
I've put a link to this thread at the devs website - perhaps when he has solved the issue he could let us know, so we can go back to using his otherwise useful app.
Never had this type of problem, only thing is that my colors blend together because of the custom theme I am using >.<
Ok, I confirmed with the developer this morning, it is QuickCal, though I guess any other app that hides icons would also have this problem as it is a restriction in the os. Jim (the developer) works for google and plans to petition his employer to make some changes to the way the notify bar works. The os allows the developer to 'hide' notification icons, but they still take up an invisible space.
We should see an update in the next couple of days to make a nicer widget with more info and smaller font size, so this may satisfy me if the widget is decent.

Awesome - I already miss QuickCal and I only uninstalled it yesterday!
First thing I noticed after update is changed lockscreen
Now, on the bottom of the lockscreen, three icons used to be "dialer", "unlock", "camera", but now there are "microphone" on the left where the "dialer" app is used to be.
Is there any way I get "dialer" app back on the lockscreen?
Also I cannot swype left or right on the lockscreen to run dialer or camera, I need to touch the icons and swipe then.

This might half-work:
Shortcut Lock Screen Mod [MM]
I say "half-work" because I don't use it myself and it doesn't mention the swipe part, just replacing the icons.
GravityBox also has the ability to add custom icons (they'll show up under the clock).
settings>>all apps>> top gear icon>> default>> assist and voice>> assist--NONE

Thank you very much, that works perfectly !
Although found something else that is weird.
When I turn off WiFi, it used to show me "4G" or "3G" icon next to reception bar, when on mobile data.
After the MM update There is nothing shown there, I have no idea if the data is enabled or not, neither if it is 4G or 3G. Is this something wrong with my device or it is MM "feature" ?
How can I get icon for the data connection back on ?!

If you're rooted you can use gravity box xposed module to show it back. No idea why it happened in the first place
OK sorted the problem.
I went to stock recovery (I'm not rooted) and cleared cache partition, rebooted and now it shows 3G/4G icon when I'm on mobile data.
thanks everyone for the support
Quick question:
I have the Sprint version. I've noticed a GPS icon that doesn't seem to go away from the status bar. I've searched around and found that all other published screenshots on forum/blogs etc (would be on the GSM version) do NOT have this icon. It will get crossed out if I turn off Location services, but will not go away.
Anyone have ideas for how to remove these? I'd prefer not to Root, but will if necessary. I know you can root-->xposed to modify these icons. Just trying to make sure I'm not missing a menu somewhere that lets us turn these off (BT, NFC, GPS icon)
Thanks in advance -

This must be your first Sprint HTC phone. That is called reticle icon for location. To remove it completely you need to install a custom ROM like Badboyz. It is removed by default.
It's been a while. I had the M7. I get a new phone about every 6mo. I'm mostly a Nexus fan, but when new good devices come along, I like using them for a while. That circle (along with the NFC and BT icons) are essentially worthless. Wish they'd enable the System UI tuner from Marshmallow and allow us to turn those icons off.
Not sure I want to root/ROM just yet. I'll probably wait a bit. Thanks for the reply.
Hello world~
I've been trying your XDA's Navigation Gesture on my Samsung Galaxy S8 (which is great ) but for some random reasons, it stopped working; like the pill was still here and I still could do the movement but it had no effect at all... so I thought just reinstalling the whole app thing would fix the bug... but no, it didn't! Instead, the Navigation Gesture still doesn't work and my initial NavBar just disappeared (Idk how to get it back). So now I have 2 problems! Can someone please help fix my phone, it getting really annoying.
Thx by advance.
To get the nav bar back disable hiding the nav bar and re enable it from the app
But first use root or adb to give it permission

So I need first to give all permission back (including adb one) before disabling `hide navbar` and then I can delete the app?

I have seen the notification somewhere while enabling the gesture which says "Remember to unhide the navigation bar before uninstalling". Install the app, give the app permissions, unhide the navigation bar, and then install the app.

Now last problem is that for some reasons the pill stops working some time for no appearent reasons... anyone might know why?
Long story short, Q gestures is absolutely terrible. I use a third party app for navigation. however, EVERY single app I've ever tried seems to be unable to hide the nav bar due Google's screwery. in fact, even Fullscreen Qgestures magisk module does nothing on Ob1.
Does anyone know a definitive way to hide the stupid annoying navbar?
Google have removed the ability to over-scan the display in Android 11 (which is the trick all 3rd party apps used to hide the nav bar); so at the moment there's simply NO WAY to remove it,
I wouldn't mind the built-in gestures so much if there was the ability to turn off the "mini nav bar" which just shows a hide icon every time you use a keyboard. That's the biggest UI issue in my book, it just looks stupid!
Google needs to reverse it back to the way it was...

With magisk you can use module called Fullscreen/Immersive Gestures (Q-R).
Works great, no problems with missing toast notifications etc.
can confirm, that magisk module works perfectly. use your volume keys during install to set the settings. https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/HideNavBar
Has anyone done this to get fng working on an OP8 Pro with latest Android 11?
EDIT: Just read the github. Doesn't work with Oxygen OS.

I absolutely loathe that extra button.
But the slider at the bottom of the screen for gestures I've grown to love.
Knocking it left or right switches apps really quickly and I couldn't be without that now.

Nice one for this.
Have to keep the OnePlus launcher installed to retain gestures though
Sliding at the bottom still works

I don't understand what you mean: you can define swipes to hide or to reveal the top and/or bottom bars.
No keyboard necessary.

Hi,
You can either use fullscreen Gesture magisk module or you can follow this guide below-
How to remove Nav Bar in Android 11
Works perfectly on OP8 Pro with latest Android 11 update. Thanks a lot.
forum.xda-developers.com
In oxygenOS 11 you can hide the bottom space between the keyboard and gesture .... you have that option in your settings under the language and input section.... you can simply search keyboard height adjustment in setting and you'll find it
thank you
Is there a way to auto-hide the nav bar? Ex. On my old phone you could swipe up to show it or tap a dot on the left to stop it from disappearing.
Looks like the only way is to use a different launcher? I tried adding the fullscreen / immersive module but I believe that's just for the keyboard.
