Below is stock firmware(.tot) for V510...
HERE for V510 stock .tot, LG Flash .dll and individual partitions
LG Flash directions etc can be found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960
Just apply same steps but with G Pad tot/dll instead.
Below are some conversion ideas... only try them at your own risk!!! They may result in a hard brick.
So which brave soul will try converting their current non-GPE G Pad into a GPE?
If LG hasn't added any tricks... flashing the stock V510 .tot file into the device should work. I've also included just the individual partitions for the boot chain... modem.. etc. Those might be able to be flashed to the V500 instead of running the entire tot if you only want an unlocked bootloader but nothing else. Loki would no longer be required at that point. If flashing just the bootchain.. I would flash aboot, sbl1, sbl2, sbl3 at minimum.
To flash the .tot.. LG Flash 1.8 is required. To flash the partitions... you'd use dd commands via adb shell.
example:
adb shell
dd if=/sdcard/aboot.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot
I would love to see this converted to kitkat 4.4.. =D but not willing to risk it myself..
I'll risk it later, considering we've got a way out. Very exciting!

check the root LG folder in my link i posted in OP.
is 1.8 needed for G Pad? The dlls suggest only needing 1.6.
probably won't work given that secure boot is on, once it's on it can't be disabled at least on the on the snapdragon 600+, you'll probably just hard brick it
What is the offsets for LGV510AT-00-V10d-NA-XX-NOV-15-2013-KRT16O.L004-USER-16G.tot?
I want to extract system.img, but it's not in the OP link, I could do it myself if I knew the offsets of where it begins/ends.
Found it, thanks. It notified me that my version was out of date. What do you think? Hard brick coming or recoverable? No liability, just want your honest opinion @autoprime

Basically it is an exploit to bypass the bootloader to flash roms and kernels. DJRBLISS found it for the S4 and it is working with the G pro. Read more about it here
Other options would be Hash's safety strap or if they can figure out flash gordon for roms. But I still hope for a full unlock sometime...
Is there a way to check if the bootloader is locked? I'm getting a T-mobile version and am curious if they have it locked as well.

Loki is old. Most manufactures stopped using as soon as Dan Bliss posted how he exploited it.
I am fairly confident this is not going to be Loki. I hope I am wrong but...
Its easy to test if you are rooted.
Pull a system dump, mod the boot.img (Decompile it, maybe just put a simple line in the default.prop then recompile), then run it through loki. After loki just DD it back in place.
If you phone boots then its loki! And I run to AT&T to buy one no questions asked...
If your phone doesnt boot... you bricked it but did so for a noble cause! And for that I would salute you!
All of the above is true and accurate... But with a grain of angry sarcasm... Im pretty sure this is not going to be Loki. If so it would have recovery and ROMS by now.

No, thats not correct.
When the system boots, it looks at aboot and verifies its signed. Then from there, it verifies that boot.img is signed, then on...
aboot is just first in the chain, and if hacked appropriately, would eliminate the need for any and all loki methods...
However, hacking the aboot is not something I recommend anyone trying to do... Unless of course they have done it before...
Didint you just brick your phone because of a hack attempt at aboot?

With Samsung they dropped the loki method of kernels. So now, they have yet to have an unlocked bootloader...

Yeah, they are going one route to unlock... Which would be the most optimal, yet most risky...
Although on other Samsung devices they closed this loop hold...
Unless someone has an aboot that has been leaked by LG for the device that does not have the checks involved this may prove as impossible as it does for the Samsung devices..
I hope I am wrong...

I just know the S4 has been re-locked for a couple months and no one has made any posted progress. I am "assuming" this phone uses the same method as Samsung. LG has always tended to play "follow Samsung."

Again, that downgrades the aboot to the old JB so it can be loki'd. Says so right in the description. The OP wanted to know if there was a way of getting recovery without doing that. That's a pretty neat automated way of making it easy for everyone though. Cloudy is the man.

Guide
Upgrade to KitKat using KDZ / TOT / OTA method
Root your device (using ioroot25)
Install AutoRec (grant root permission)
means i dont have to go back to JB because the app itself will do the job? correct me if im wrong?
@marshygeek Looks like you're exactly right. That app flashes the old bootloader for you that can still be loki'd

what phone doesn't have issues with rooting/custom recoveries, that just proves how hard the companies who make the device work on preventing us from doing things which are illegal/enjoying the device, if google wanted android to be hacked and modded then they would give people the sources to anyone/they wouldn't block exploits/etc
The harder it is more knowledge you will obtain.
PLEASE READ THE OP BEFORE POSTING.

Edit:
We have an updated 2.8.7.0 TWRP Recovery created by @dirtyhewr, which can be downloaded here. This is new as of 2 Feb 2016.
Exactly one month later, @dirtyhewr has released the NEW and improved TWRP 3.0 image. It can be found here.
Sprint and ATT FlashTool DLLs
@tripptofan gave us the Sprint DLL for the FlashTool, and multiple users can confirm that it works. Here is that DLL. Hyelton's Mirror of the DLL.
The ATT DLL can be found here. Thank @i2andog for that one.
Sprint TOT and ATT TOT
Thanks to @hyelton, the Sprint TOT can be downloaded here.
Thanks to @i2andog, who gave us the ATT DLL, we have a TOT as well for you ATT folks here.
ROMs and KernelsKernel: Dirty Kernel by @dirtyhewr. Flash through Flashify until further notice.
Honorable MentionsA TWRP backup of all partitions other than /data and /cache, can be found here. It is based off ZV5, and only works for Sprint. If someone would like to contribute an ATT version for future use, upload it and I'll get it in the OP. Rooted is preferred.
I also have the ZV6 FOTA update for Sprint. It can be found here.
An added bonus: A-boot image for ZV6 and also the LS885 partition lists by name and block.
Check this OP regularly for future updates.
@DaemeonZane
Thank you so much!!
Anyway to use the flashtool to unbrick the LS885??
So far, no. We need someone to locate the DLL and things for the FlashTool to work. Have you tried to use fastboot to push the recovery to the unit and using my TWRP backup to restore it? I'm not 100% on whether this unit HAS fastboot, but that could be an option.
As soon as someone is willing to dd their stock recovery we'll have a way to reflash the stock back to the device and try to cover any tracks left behind.

How can i flash the TWRP in download mode?
As far as i know LG doesn't have a fastboot mode.....
I have this device... I 100% hate it due to the fact that the stock os sux more than anything I have ever known... it has 4 cpus, so one would think it would be a little fast, but no... wish someone would compile cm for it... another problem faced with this device is the locked boot loader... although I understand theoretically it can be "bumped", should a Rom become available... I used the method for unrooting a standard LG G3 I found elsewhere to fix an issue with a LS885 that was unsuccessfully rooted, but I have reached an impasse. After the s/w download finishes and the device restarts, the screen shows the number "2" and my computer tries to reconnect and install the LGE Android drivers. The problem is it never installs the drivers to connect again and the flash fails. I'm wondering what I am doing wrong here...
@tripptofan: I saw something on that over at the regular G3. The fix may be the same. http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/problem-returning-to-stock-try-t2862463

Bahaha, that was the first place I looked
If someone could modify this to be able to prompt me for an unlock code when I enter a different SIM card, I would be very, very happy. Apparently T-Mobile does something to stop the prompt from coming up, and I want to be able to unlock it almost immediately. I'm on my way to get the phone now, but I don't want to come home with a useless paperweight.
Apparently a similar stock ROM was created for the LG G4 as it had the same problem. I would love to see a ROM for this once TWRP is publicly released for the V10!

i thought you had to wait at least 15 days since you been using the device to qualify for sim unlocking your phone. tmobile told me that on the phone before.

Hope this helps out. This was after I unlocked bootloader and re-setup my phone (so there are some apps installed). Total unpacked size is 3.26GB, zip is 1.52GB.

I have 1 question, is it possible to make a custom rom with the full .zip you uploaded?
Does anyone know to unroot it and go back to stock?
My speaker got broken. I need to send phone for replacement. Im not lucky one
thank you so much for help
Find the stock tot for your model and flash it-that should return you to stock unrooted.

As far as I know tot file flashing doesnt work because dll's files are missing.

No harm,no foul,we've all done similar on at least one occasion.
You're a good man for offering to help ! :good:
Any help with that?
I am also awaiting an answer.
My last 2 Samsung phones had issues and I needed to Odin back to stock for warranty exchange at T-Mobile.
So I'm holding off on rooting till we have something of the sort for the v20.
Using Odin to flash my s7e back to stock while having severe screen issues saved my butt.
I'm on JoD for reference, and needed to switch phones at a brick and mortar.
Side note : loving the blooming development for this device.
Thanks for that, all parties concerned.

Nice people gave me an answer: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69824782&postcount=1007
Sound very complicated for newbie. Anyone can try it?
I made an easy to understand guide to do just this.

Does this unroot method work for the sprint variant? I am stock unrooted on the build the phone came out of the box with, and waiting until rooting isn't a one-way street to take the plunge. If it does, are you 100% certain that it had been used in sprint v20s successfully?
That thread specifically says H918. So no.

You are in the exact same position as me. I'm excited that we have an unlocked bootloader and root for the Sprint variant, but I have no desire to do anything until there's an established procedure to unroot and revert back to stock.

Here's hoping it's taken care of. Sprint didn't used to be such a **** when it came to bootloaders. Anyways, I appreciate all the hard work the devs have been doing. Can't wait until I get the chance to experience it. With a stable 200mhz overclock, there's no functional difference between the snapdragon 820 and the snapdragon 821.
Do any of the posted methods work to restore the VS995 variant to stock?
I really want to go ahead and root it (and yes, have disabled updates so still run 12A since I knew VZW was going to be evil and patch it) but I'm very hesitant to do so without a way to restore to stock. Is it one of those things that's just a matter of time, or is there a substantial likelihood it may never be possible?
