Help connecting to ps3 - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am trying to connect my phone with a USB cable to my ps3, so I can watch a video that I have on my phone. The ps3 won't recognize my phone and I don't know how to put my phone in a state that the ps3 will read. The only options I see on my phone are mtp and ptp, neither work on the ps3. I have no wifi at the moment so usb is my only option right now. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Try Internet>Ethernet mode

Internet Ethernet or MTP mode then go to your xmb under video, find your device and click triangle then display all and find your video.

Nothing is working for me. Not smart share or the mtp. Says its a unknown device. Need help. Please and thank you

I don't think you can do that. All you can do is charge the phone via the USB with the PS3. For file sharing you must use wifi and DLNA.
Try disabling USB debugging on your phone first, then plugging it in to the ps3. Then go to the video part of the XMB home (or music or photos) and finding the device. With USB sticks, the PS3 only supports NTFS storage types so the Android file system might have to be NTFS.
You could also try creating a portable hotspot for DLNA with the PS3. There may also be an app on the play store to help with this.

If your PS3 is on your network turn on your phone's wifi and use the AllShare app that came pre installed on it.

You can watch the movies as Algorithm said using Allshare. Or when you phone is plugged into your PS3, go to Videos->USB Device, hit triangle and then "Display All". This will navigate through your folders.
Okay it worked using the usb cord but when I debinged my phone it also got ride off allshare any idea how to get it back

I couldn't get my Atrix to work in the CTS either. Did you ever get it to work?
Use bluetooth

Remember that there is a certain lag between connecting it in Mass Media Storage and it being recognized. You'd do well in disabling the PC Companion prompt as well.
Anyone have any luck getting an android phone to work with the CTS?

Old HTC Evo 4G needs new life

I've been thinking about what I could do with an old smartphone. I've done a lot of googling and see most people use their device for internet phone calls, media, wifi only, etc... but I want to do something more.
it has so many sensors and an hdmi port that i think should be made useful. Looking for some suggestions.
If it has hdmi, hook it up to your tv as a media player- play movies from it etc. get a wireless usb/keyboard mouse and connect it to your phone with a usb otg adapter. Connect to your home pc with ES File Explorer.
I mean, what could I do if I took the phone apart and utilized the internals for another project?

[Q] How can I make my N7 act as a regular USB flash drive so my TV can recognize it?

Nowadays, there are a lot of TV's, radio's and etc. with USB port. This enables the user to hook up their USB flash drives to instantly play mp3's and even videos. Is there an app, tweak, or anyway that I can hook up my Nexus 7 to my TV via USB and act like a normal USB flash drive so my TV will be able to play it contents? Thanks!

Sorry, no chance. The Nexus7 does not support the USB mass storage protocol. Either your TV accepts MTP / WiFi (DLNA) or I do not see any chance.

Oh.. That's sad to hear. Seems I'm running out of options playing my videos on my TV since my it's (my TV) not DLNA capable. Anyways, thanks!

Mount as USB storage

Hi guys. I'm trying to mount via USB instead of mtp so I can plug my phone directly into my TV and play media via USB cable.
I've tried StickMount and a few other mass storage apps however haven't found one that works for me.
Anyone know of a way to mount via USB mass storage?

did you find a solution? this is major piece of the jigsaw missing for me with the s5.
Unfortunately not, however I have a WIFI TV connected to my router as is my phone.
For now I have just been sharing my media via Wifi direct to the TV. Not sure if it actually supports 1080p but it's the best I got just now.
Google removed MTP in Android 4.1.2. It can only mount as a network drive now.
Did you try turning on USB Debugging? It might work.
Use Drivedroid app, works like a charm
