I have the Sprint variant of the g2, there is no brightness slider in the pull down notification drawer. I'm using xposed framework but haven't found it in there. I've found where you can remove the brightness slider and volume slider. I currently have the brightness set to change with dragging my finger on the notification bar but I would love to have this in my pull down drawer. Anyone know if this option exist in xposed?

From stock, if you long press the settings gear icon below the volume slider, it should switch to brightness.

Thanks for the response. I got it to come up by long pressing in notification pull down but when I tried the slide it wouldn't respond. I checked the auto brightness and the system ui came up not responding. I uninstalled all xposed framework and now the brightness bar won't show up. Any thoughts?

Sorry for the late response. When you had Xposed installed did you also have the G2 module installed or were you using the Gravity Box one? I was using the G2 one and after reading your reply I looked and noticed that now whe nI long press the settings gear, the volume slider goes away but and I have no brightness slider.

Do any of the new ROM's have the Brightness adjustment when you slide on the Notification Bar? It was on Eclair.
Nevermind I found one.
They should all have this feature. Just make sure auto brightness is turned off.

Not to start up a 5 day old thread; but I'm running Quantum Rom v2.0.0 and the slider bar in the notification window isn't there. And; I have the auto brightness off.
In fact; I don't think I've ever had it on any of the roms I've had since we switched to 2.2.

I must be losing it; cause I still don't see what you guys are talking about.
So here's a screenshot, hopefully I am just looking in the wrong place and it ends up I'm a moron.

Hold your thumb anywhere along the black status bar at the top to adjust your brightness. You need to have auto brightness turned off in order for it to work. It used to be that you could slide your finger along the status bar but it hasn't worked for me as of recent but long pressing it does. You don't need the entire notification screen pulled down, just have the status bar showing ie: If you have Launcher Pro hiding the status bar it will not work.
Got it!!
I thought it was going to be an actual slider like the Galaxy TAB has, but that is nice to have that hidden gem.
Thanks for the help!!
This is my most disliked "feature" on android. It is way to easy to inadvertently change the brightness when dragging the slider down. there should be a larger dead band around where your finger starts before the brightness change becomes active because most people do not swipe down perfectly straight every time. I have yet to make it a day without the thing changing brightness by mistake.
In fact as soon as we get the source, I'm going to compile a version with this "feature" removed...
Please remove,lol,thank you in advance

Hi all,
Just switched from CM to MIUI and so far quite liking the change. There are a couple of features from CM which I am missing a little and wondered whether there were any mods for them:
Ability to change brightness quickly by pulling top bar down slightly and adjusting left and right. Is there a patch around for this?
Abilitiy to tweak auto-brightness levels
Any other tips about MIUI worth knowing?
Cheers,
MIchael
try changing your toggle settings to page instead of compact. As for tweaking the auto settings..not sure about that

cheers for the reply... should have been more specific. On CM (and my last phone - Galaxy S) it was possible to pull the notification bar down slightly and then drag left to right to adjust. Was always nice an easy to do when out and about in bright sunlight when you cant see anything on the screen.
a brightness slider in the notification bar? ive never seen this but im interested
i thought the button in the notification bar was the only option

what I am talking about isnt a visible slider... its quite hard to explain but is demonstrated in this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgIaVNzwhjk . Its an option you can turn on somewhere in the CM settings
also, have found how to adjust auto-brightness levels in MIUI so ignore that request, just need to see if this brightness slider is possible.
Pull down the notification shade. If it is in page view, hit the backlight button. Once you hit the backlight button, a slider will appear on the bottom of the shade and you can adjust the brightness. It will be there any time you adjust the shade.
If your shade is in toggle view, put it in page view by hitting Settings>personal>toggle>page
Hope that helps
U can set max brightness by pressing together menu button and volume up
understand what you are asking for since I use CM a lot
but not available that way in MIUI yet
Actually, cyber, my slider don't even work
When I swipe down on the Notification Bar, I sometimes see a slider to control screen brightness. I would much rather see a slider to control volume, the hardware buttons being slow and cumbersome for me. Any way to achieve this?

like to use this app it allows a volume slider on the edge of screen also has an auto hide feature so not intrusive
Hey guys. So yesterday all of a sudden I just couldn't pull down the notification bar anymore. After factory resetting my phone it still didn't work so I assume the digitizer is broken.
Now I don't really have money to replace it and I don't want to break even more of my phone so I'm looking for an alternative way to pull down the notification bar which should be working system-wide (maybe through a softkey press or gesture?)
I'm running the latest AOSPA 4.6 Beta 2 if that's of any relevance.
I would be really thankful if someone could help me as it's really annoying to not being able to pull the notifications down.

first, try flashing factory images then test.. if it still doesn't work, its the digitizer.
use a launcher that has a shortcut to pulldown the statusbar, or add a button on the navbar to do it (xposed and some ROMs like slimkat can do that)

I've already tried that, doesn't seem to work for me. The notification bar can be pulled down when in landscape mode. However if the navigation bar is at the notification bars usual spot, it won't work either. So I'm pretty sure it's the digitizer.
I need a system-wide solution so the launcher isn't an option as it would only work on the homescreen. I already looked into xposed modules but I can't seem to find one which allows me to set a button for notification pull-downs.

GravityBox module has navbar customization and if i remember right it has a button (or a tap and hold action) that pulls it down. check that module.
Thanks a lot! That did the trick. I was using Xblast previously and it didn't have such an option. Works just fine in GravityBox! It'll take a while to get used to it but you just made my day.

i upgraded my d800 5.0.2,
is it possible to get the menu key back (i can long press the "recent" key to get the menu functionality but that's not great), it does not appear as an option in the settings,
also, is it possible to the the brightness slider in the notification bar? the new brightness i got was i multi level toggle switch instead of the old slider..
thanks for the hlep
I would also like the brightness slider back in the notification panel. Why would LG remove this option?
Also, the Lollipop update on my Xperia Z2 tablet removed the auto brightness tick box from the notification panel. I hear complaints on other devices relating to lollipop and brightness. What the hell was Google thinking?
