Is there a way to root 4.3 UCUEMK2?
I was told either vRoot or Kingo. Both are questionable, but apparently work.

As far as I can tell, all Kingo related threads have been closed on XDA until they can sort out issues regarding capturing and insecure transmission of IMEI number along with other unnecessary data.
Are there any methods for MK2 root other than Kingo & vRoot?

I already stated that kingo uses all known methods. Vroot was capturing imei and kingo support verified with me (as did tcpview) that the latest release removed the vroot malicious code. Kingo was merely running vroot code, which is why it too captured emei, this is no longer the case. Also read here that speaking of kingo or vroot is fine, just cant link to it. That all happened months ago, and if mods haven't confirmed by now its safe, then they aren't actively checking, likely busy. Doesn't take long. Run packet sniff while flashing and see for yourself. None of ny threads that i mentioned in were closed. And no, im not aware of other methods for mk2. Cheers.

People have got root on that version that have flashed a hexed version of it, and those who have the older boot loader have maintained the Knox counter at 0x0 in the process as well.

No worries about knox. I could care less if it trips. It's not a business or corporate device. It my personal device thst staye on/with my person.

It does work with MJ7 on VZW. I did Kingo on mine a day or so ago. Works fine. It did take several times to go through Kingo though. IDK why. Kingo never finished all the way through and said rooted. It kept getting stuck on "waiting for device". I eventually downloaded a root checker from the market and it verified root
Also, Knox was not tripped for those who care (I dont)
I just used Kingo on mine and it worked with no issues.

Doesn't trip the Knox. I did it a couple weeks ago after updating to the MJ7 and just checked for the 3rd time today, just incase. It isn't tripped and it isn't going to trip. Kingo worked like a charm, so far. I just hope there is no adverse affects down the road, like my bank account being emptied.
Type of cable used?
For those of you successful in rooting with Kingo, congrats.
Question: Are you using the stock USB 3.0 cable or a USB 2.0 cable?
I've read elsewhere that Kingo had an issue with the stock USB 3.0 cable that came with the N3

Since my N3 can use a 3.0 it is what I use all the time. I do a lot of large videos so it makes life easier with the transfers
So to answer your question I used mt 3.0 for the Kingo
I removed my gmail accounts & any apps that may hold personal information. (Just in case). Pretty much just a brand new out-of-the-box Note 3
I used Kingo 1.1.4.1785. Root process worked flawless. This version of Kingo installs SuperSU 1.65 but I updated via SafeStrap 3.65 to SuperSU 1.75.
First thing I did was run a backup of my stock using SafeStrap (Thanks Hashcode0f!) Took about 25 minutes with compression enabled. Looking forward to Rom-ing in those SS slots!

my phone came with the mk2 update from sprint so is there any way to root it and have a custom recovery? im not worried about tripping knox if that matters. also does the cf-auto root method work with the full mk2 update?

The method is for Verizon GS4, can you reconfirm that its working for Spring L720 too?
Thanks
I can confirm that it worked for my Sprint MK2 4.3. I should mention that when I started the instal bat and the command prompt screen popped up telling me to hit any key to continue, nothing happened. I "x'd" out of command prompt and started the install bat again and it worked no problem. I have done this a total of 3 times now. All on Sprint MK2 4.3 and all successful. I checked each time with root checker to ensure root access.
I can also confirm that Safe Root tool was able to root my Sprint L720 MK2-based 4.3 Galaxy S4. I had Odin'ed back to stock MK2 days ago. I haven't tried the SafeTrap Recovery yet so I can back-up/install custom ROMs.

Thanks for the confirmation as it assured me enough to go ahead and root... and as confirmation on my end that it worked!!
One question though... as I'm now rooted, it's been mentioned that when you boot the device up you should see a "Custom" banner during boot because things have been changed. On my device I never see this and was wondering if that's the case on yours as well.
I can also confirm that QBKING&&s root method works for mk2 build..so does goomanager for installing twrp and disabling knox. Jut dont try the MJA native hotspot mod...i followed the video to the t and am now stuck in a boot loop

I had read that thread, but I also read that there were some issues with it (permissions, at least with the 4.3 image). So I don't want to go with that option just yet. I prefer for now the stock ROM.
I am merely trying to get root (and just root) by creating a simple root guide in this forum as a sticky.

as far as I know, and depending on who you trust, KingoApp and VROOT have not been able to produce evidence that they are NOT harvesting IMEI numbers. The last I read is that XDA admins remove all download links to KingoApp and VROOT software. In the past several warnings have been posted about both apps. Unless anyone know that these apps are ok now?

in the "old days" we could use something like RootKeeper... i.e., for example root an older version of android (like 4.2.2), upgrade to a newer version (like 4.3) and subsequently lose root, and then restore the root with RootKeeper. Is that possible with this phone?

I havent test with i9506 but with Xcover2 (GT-S7710) I have updated two phones via OTA and root has remain after update.
Possible with i9506 I bet root wont remain, atleast with 4.3 update cause KNOX.
How I managed to root my I9506:
Note: If you updated to 4.3 via OTA, it is very likely that you wont be able to flash custom recovery via Odin.
1) Reflash the full 4.3 firmware that i got mine form sammobile via odin
2) Follow through the steps in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529064
Warning : After rooting through the steps above my phone KNOX Warranty Void : 0x1
(Not sure if this is due to the SuperSU disabling the KNOX or the actual rooting process)

Hey!
Like in other treads, like galaxy S3 I9xx was talked http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2597774, the 4.3 and later have already KNOX installed and if you install custom recovery or root your device, you probably fire the KNOX warranty to 0x1. Still there no one who was able to reset this KNOX warranty to 0x0, like TRIANGLE AEAY is resetting your flashing counter.
Then DONT install any CUSTOM RECOVERY or try to ROOT your device in 4.3 or later, if you want your warranty(ofcourse if there is already have the way, how to reset KNOX).
PEACE FOR ALL!!!

Root is always possible. If firmware is 4.3 MJ3 & above, you are not able to have a safe rooting without tripping the KNOX. Don't worry, this trip is only for warranty. No other issue other than warranty is voided.
The easiest way to root, is always chainfire method, which is mentioned earlier ==> CF-Autoroot.
Just grab the latest file from his thread (under Note 3 original Android development). Choose a correct device for you. N9005 must use N9005, N900 must use N900, and vice versa.
Read carefully on the instructions on how to root (easy to follow and to understand).
Good luck.

Perhaps it would if i could find the corresponding files for the n900v. Any ideas where i can find them?

After some extensive searching i found the files and hope to attempt to downgrade according to video posted ^ with my SM-N900V. I found a great site for FW versions for anyone encountering this problem in the future: galaxynote3update
update
This method does not work on Verizon. I found the Verizon equivalent files and attempted this but got a SW REV CHECK fail when trying to download 4.4.2 FW. ATT must not have a version check in theirs. I have exhausted every method out there. Hoping someone comes up with a one click root for this configuration soon cuz not having root sucks
Did you ever succeed?
I just received a new Note 3 from my warranty company. I was hoping it would have 4.4.2 on it
but it has the same version as yours. I really could use root.
Any luck with your phone?
