So I performed the CF Root and attempted to use wifi tether, no go.
I did some looking around and found the HotSpot Mod and did that, when I go to WiFi Tether it sends out a signal for a minute then my phone prompts me to buy tethering abilities.
I've rooted my previous droid phones (droid, droid 2, htc thunderbolt, etc) but never had an issue with wifi tether.
Do I need to install a recovery (cwm or twrp) to gain full root? Root checker says I'm rooted.
If that is so, do I need to remove CF-Root before I install the recovery?
I appreciate any responses, this organization has answered all of my questions before with a quick search but this one has me a bit dumb founded.

The easiest way is CF-Auto root then use either TWRP or Philz Touch CWM then flash the hot spot mod here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40860639

Help I can't get SuperSu to work I have 4.3 and rooted with cfauto root and SuperSu is not granting permissions to any apps I've tried installing via recovery to no avail. .. I'm a noob obviously

Also to make make sure that you are truly rooted you can download root checker from the play store.. Goodluck..:thumbup:

Okay so I unistalled then reinstalled from market tried to update the binaries but in recovery it said e: whole signature failed twice... And root checker says "please wait for app to complete. System is running very slow. " and it never actually checks it just stays on that message... Should I reroot?

Yes..Re root.. Once you re root check for super su. If it's not there follow the steps from before. Also if you read through the threads you will see that cf had to be done a few times for some before it actually stuck. Then use the root checker to verify root.

So SuperSU was there after re-rooting at least 3 times but it still wasn't granting permissions to Titanium Backup...so I changed to Default Access to [Grant] and it worked not sure if this was the best idea but everything is working fine Thank you for the feedback

Change it back when you are done, you don't want every program that asks for root to get it.

So here's what happened. Unrooted my s4 to get the 4.3 update. Don't care about warranty issues so then I rooted again and installed CWM recovery and then wireless teather hack. After restart it just sticks on sprint screen. Being hasty and stupid I did not back up stock firmware before I installed the teather hack. Is there a way to get the stock rom back on this rooted phone. So far all I can find is the stock firmware to keep the former bootloader. Will this tar file work for me as well? Help greatly appreciated.

If you want to download the stock MJA you can go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47359331 Then you can re root and then use Philz Touch CWM. You should be good to go..

Thank you for taking the time to assist. I've been following that post since it started and always search and read. I don't have access to post the question in that thread but step 5 is the issue. I don't want to perform the complete wipe below. I will if I have to but I wanted to know if there is way to upgrade to MJA with MF9 boot loader without the full wipe.
5. Boot into Philz recovery. Choose "Clean to Install a New Rom for a complete wipe."

I'm currently on a stock rooted mf9 rom with the hotspot mod and I'm encountering a few issues. I can't really have any issues right now as I'm busy with school, so I just want to go back to completely stock, preferably how I got the phone. I knew how to do this on my old og evo, but Samsung phones are very different from old htc phones. Can anyone tell me how to do this (in detail) or can anyone post a link to the directions?

anyone has a workaround on the knox issue??? i figure that if you can flash a stock rooted rom and have supersu and hit full unroot you dont have root access no more. i just need to find a way to fix the seandriod enforcing problem.

So wait i can still root and rom my fully stock knox MK2 ? Please someone tell me yes! Please tell me I'm not F#@$%ed .It just trips counters? I can't find any1 saying they have done this fully unrooted stock 4.3 mk2 with knox!

if i was you i will just wait and see until a dev finds a workaround on it. i dont want you to risk it. just stay in 4.2.2 in my opinion

Thers is no changing that.. The only thing you can do is flash a stock 4.3 rom, either MJA or MK2.. There is no flashing of any other previous builds..

Theres no staying lol i hard bricked my last one so i had sprint send me a new 1 for a not so small fee needless to say it came fully MK2 with knox. Ive been looking but no one flat out says they have rooted and rom in this state. Atleast i haven't seen nothing and I've been looking for 2 days now.

Tho i do miss my old bad ass rom i must say battery life on this MK2 i find to be pretty good. I just hate this Knox $h!t
Im still on MJA just stock rooted... Not so much into Custom Roms,although I do admit that there are a lot of great ones out there. These Devs do put out some great work.. I really give them a big thumbs up.. My setup is just for little knick knacks like the HotSpot Mod and Transparent Weather Widget..and a few other tweaks....

Why would you use the method from the Verizon page?? I'm a noob when it comes to Android and even I know that I must use the instructions for my specific carrier.
Or did you by mistake post in the wrong forum and have a Verizon S4 and that is why you stated you used the Verizon method?
