I use the 1 click root program to root my droid x. then i got an ota update and the root stop work... i click the unroot and the phone restart...phone came back on but still have superuser on it....i try to reroot it say done but none of the rooted apps are working...it never ask superuser to allow...If i open the superuser app it never have anything in it...Could someone help me out to get my phone rooted and apps to working..Thanks

The superuser.apk just doesnt remove when you unroot. Nothing is working as you didnt re-root.
If you want root again, simply root it again and you will be good.
I rerooted it over and over and still didn't w
ork.
Follow the manual rooting process and it will work. I promise.
Same thing happened to me but I had mine re-rooted within 5 minutes.
I NEVER trust those one click apps unless they come from UnrEVOked.

Honestly brother, you are giving people nothing to work with. You just say it didn't work. The manual root method will work, so as stated above use that. If you are saying you did use that method, then please describe where it is failing and what things look like. Post the link to the manual method that you have used, there are a few, which did you try, what steps did you follow?
Also, what do you mean it doesn't work/ You said you went into the superuser app and nothing is there. Well, I am confused as nothing is supposed to be there. The app does nothing when you click into it. It only goes into effect when you download and install a program that needs root. (an example is root explorer) When you install that app, it will open up superuser and ask for root permission and you can click to remember, etc and give it access. Explain what you mean by its not working......Unless you have apps that already have supervisor privs

You might have to try the . Exploid command a few times before it will prompt you for the password, TRY AGAIN! I had to run that command several times before it showed the password prompt.

OK, I am going to try and help but only if you post what you have done, what you are following, etc. You cant make a blanket statement and expect people to know where you are at.
What files are you using, are you using the root that I linked you too? How are you typing things in? Dont put the "" around the commands like its typed, just type.
Did you in fact set up ADB correctly? When you push in step 2, what happens? When you go to adb shell after that, what happens, when you change directory's to sqlite_stmt_journal in step 4 what happens? etc.
If you want help man, you gotta be specific. This is why you are not getting a lot of replies.

Questions should be in Q & A. That's what its there for.
Buying a 900V is a big mistake if your not on Verizon. No, you cannot flash N9005 roms on this device. Your best bet would be installing one of the roms in the development section here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-note-3/development

I don't know if there is a scamware version of Kingo going around or something, but I've never been able to get it to work.
I can use ADB without any problems on my SM-N900V. I then run Kingo and it does nothing, just sits there "waiting" for the devices. Windows Firewall disabled, No AV software, Trying Kingo w/Admin permissions and without. Nothing works.
After wasting hours with this, I finally decided I'd try a vanilla Windows 8 install, nothing on it but Kingo. Still didn't work.
Brought my phone back to my PC, ADB works just fine -- tried Kingo again -- nothing.
...On a related note...
After searching the forums for some time, there is one question I just can't determine definitively:
Can the SM-N900V (Verizon Galaxy Note 3) be truly "unlocked" with a custom recover (or) are we still limited to Safestrap options?

I had the same problem with Kingo initially. I don't remember how I fixed it, but it was a simple fix.... something stupid. Now it works with no problem.
In regard to the recovery, if you have a retail Note 3 from Verizon you will brick it if you flash a recovery other than safestrap. The bootloader will recognize the recovery is not stock, your knox will void you warranty and the phone will not boot. The only available recovery option for retail is safestrap.

I've tried all of the crazy suggestions that people have claimed will make it work. Setting screen timeout to 10 minutes, allowing untrusted & disabling app inspection, everything.
I can even use ADB directly from the Kingo directory, no problem.
And here's the real kicker .. if I delete the token allowing ADB access to my phone, Kingo will not trigger the phone to prompt for one. So Kingo is *not* even attempting to run ADB.
Not to mention, if you look at the logs, the entire time Kingo is communicating with Chinese servers. Sure, it might not be doing anything to root the phone, but that's not going to stop them from sending loads of data to China in the process.
At this point I think I think I'm best to chalk up the 12+ wasted hours on Kingo and give vRoot a try. What a nightmare, I've never had such a bad experience with an Android tool, whether it be for S-OFF, Rooting, etc.

I wish you could recall the "something simple" to make Kingo work. Where can I get "Safestrap?"
I just got a Verizon SM-900V with MJE yesterday. I need root to be able to use ARUnchained with my AppRadio 2. I tried Kingo, and it just kept switching between "connecting" and "downloading drivers" it never would connect to the phone. At this point, I'm not to concerned about custom ROMs, nor am I concerned about voiding the warranty. I just need to be able to obtain ROOT without bricking my phone. All of the threads on successful rooting of this device are from around November of last year. So, is there a way to successfully root any more? Thanks in advance!

Definitely works for getting root. Rooted, installed SuperSU, Xposed, SafeStrap all successfully. Now struggling to get a rom to work (tried Eclipse & Hyperdrive). Both say they install successfully via SafeStrap and then hangs on boot up. I've seen one other post on the Eclipse thread for the same problem, so it might be something to keep an eye on.
i can verify that this method works. i just installed superuser and it works flawlessly. the only thing is make sure to download the superuser app from here so you have the updated binaries: http://download.chainfire.eu/447/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r4.zip

I seem to be in the same boat as well. Things I have tried and it still does not work:
Installed Play Store Edition
Installed 1.99r4
Installed 1.99r5
All of them are saying I need to update binaries. While I am technically rooted and can grant permissions to apps, I need to get into SuperSU so I can modify some settings.
There are several others have issues on Reddit as well, so its not a couple of people.

Try this. Install safestrap 3.7x. Open it, give su permission, install recovery, hit the home button. Open supersu, update binary thru cwm/twrp. Don't click to reboot phone into recovery from supersu. Hold down home and bring safestrap back up. Reboot to recovery from there and it should update the binary. Hope this helps.

This is being very peculiar. After I installed Safe Strap, SuperSU went fine, able to get in and do what I needed to get done. I reboot into recovery. Made a backup, and rebooted system. Went right to SuperSU again. And the same issue occurs, constantly asking for updated binaries. I am trying everyone once more to make it all work. If not, then I will just stick with what I have and hopefully it doesn't cause any other issues.

Yeah I just did all this last night...I installed SafeStrap and installed Recovery, then went into SuperSU and clicked Normal when asking for updating Binaries and it hasnt asked again thankfully. All of this of course was after installing BusyBox from the Play Store.
Note though: Safestrap isnt working for flashing roms just yet, just like someone else said here, and someone else said this in the Jasmine Rom forum. I just tried it myself and everything looks fine when installing, but then when you boot up, screen goes black and unresponsive after the SS splash screen on a reboot. Hopefully we have an update to SS soon. Fair warning - make sure you create a backup of your System/Data, etc in SS before messing around...it makes it so much easier to restore in case something screws up.

So, can someone enlighten me on what this "root" does? I've been running SafeStrap 3.72 with HyperROM 8 and just yesterday, successfully installed Towelroot on my Verizon Note 3. I downloaded the new SU to my SDcard before running Towelroot and was able to run it immediately after root and all looks good. But... what did I actually gain? Can I now install Cyanogen or others? I am a bit fuzzy on the difference, if any, on a rooted phone vs. an unlocked bootloader. Those of us on the Verizon retail Note 3 still don't have unlocked bootloaders do we? I miss the ease of playing with my old S3! LOL. Thanks!

No, you dont gain an unlocked bootlader. At this point, only the Almighty will make that happen lol. For us with Verizon Notes (and some others), this helps the folks who either a) dont want to use Kingo or the other web methods, and b) folks who were on stock 4.4.2 NC4, like from an OTA (like me). This now gave me root, where when the OTA came out people were fearing there would never be a root for it (thanks to everyone else who put monies towards a bounty). Many people as well as myself cannot use SafeStrap successfully to fully flash a rom yet (you'll see this remarked in a lot of places), so Im sure there is an update forthcoming. In the meantime, I can use TB and freeze/uninstall a lot of the bloatware crap, and use Xposed for whatever else, which is fine by me. But no, we are still a no-go on full rooting and unlocked bootladers like on some other phones, which means no CyanogenMod, etc.

i rooted today with towelroot. i have a verizon note 3 on 4.4.2
Last night I was bored and tried kingroot again on 5.1.1. It had been a while since I had tried, and it always said they were looking for a method. This time, it rooted successfully, but made the system very unstable. It caused Lag, and the keyboard stopped functioning, but root checker confirmed root. Temp root of course.

I stopped messing with KingRoot some time ago, just didn't seem worth my time considering you lose root after a reboot. Especially when certain apps require a reboot to take effect, such as Adaway, Xpose, and several others. I'm more-or-less fine without root, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't root my phone if I were to come across a stable and perm root solution.:cyclops::fingers-crossed:

I was on KK, and a friend of mine updated to 5.0.1. I said screw it and fully updated, not caring about root anymore. If this were more stable I would use it more. Temp root is annoying, but it survives hot reboots, which is sufficient for apps most of the time..

I tried to use the hot reboot feature of a rooted reboot app I have on my Tab 3 8.0 after installing something like Xpose, but the root didn't survive. The only real reason I tried to install Xpose was to use the Motorola hotspot app found in it. I'm currently using the paid version of FoxFi and it works great, it's just a four step activation compared to the one touch I got spoiled by on my S4. No biggie.
Over on AT&T note 4 thread someone said that they have temp root for 5.1.1

When I was on 4.4.4, I realized I could use the default file explorer to manage my SD card, meaning copy to, delete from, or anything else I needed to do with it. I'm currently on 5.1.1 now and have been for about a few weeks now. On occasion, when I install a big game, I'll get a prompt asking me if I want to move the app to my SD card, so no need for the SD card fix app. The only thing I don't like about the 5.1.1 update, though, is that the sidebar seems to pop out a bit slower than it did on 4.4.4, but that's to big a thing for me. Since I have the two apps I use the most that can be accessed from the sidebar on my Pie Control app, I can access them much quicker. Keep the dream of root alive, people. It'll come someday, hopefully. If not, at least we have cool phones to play with.
ok i can confirm that i obtained temporary root, uninstall all bloatware... so well its not perfect cuz system its very unstable but at least its a begining, now im gonna give a try to sd card fix and other stuff...
Ok SD card fixed worked... but i dont belive it will remain after reboot, so.... well at least i uninstall that Amazon stuff and Activation Agent "Not a Verizon card" stuff

I managed to get a keyboard to open by switching from the stock keyboard to kii keyboard. Have not tried any others. Is there a mod we can do for hotspot with temp root to use the native hotspot app? I'm so tired of using foxfi.

I tried it out and it says it root is successful, but on my phone it just locks up after the rooting. I just wanted to uninstall the crap. Bummer.
Ok So Ive been checking the ATT note 4 forum and they have been suggesting that the root exploit may have been found through the Note 4 Stock keyboard. A suggestion also made was before you root change your keyboard to Swype mode then root and it appears to be more stable. Maybe someone could try install a third party keyboard before root and see if it makes a differwnce.

So I downloaded Swype and Nada. Just keeps locking up. Kingroot even updated a few min ago to 4.8.1. I thought yes! But still false hopes. Still locks up for me and can't do a darn thing. Can't wait until my contract is up I am so dumping Samsung and Verizon. I think I am gong back to a flip phone and a laptop. So tired of no root and feel like I got duped into this phone.
I am using an old samsung galaxy s4 that my grandma bought from a pawn shop. It was rooted when she bought it. I want to unroot the phone because I really have no interest/experience in having a rooted phone, and one of the apps I use frequently is Snapchat and I can't log into Snapchat when my phone is rooted for some reason? So I looked up a tutorial on how to unroot using Odin and it seemed fairly simple so I tried it and I keep getting a red "failed!" in the box. Am I missing a step? am I doing something wrong? I don't understand. I am new to this I have no experience rooting phones what so ever and I'm scared I'm going to mess it up but it's been fine all 3 times I've tried, it just keeps failing. Please help me. I mean I don't absolutely need to have snapchat so if there's no way I can unroot it successfully I'll just give up, but it would be nice to be able to use it again.

Having root is like having administrator rights on Windows, it does not harm your phone or anything unless you do something like flash a file that is not made for it. Snapchat probably just needs to be uninstalled then reinstalled.
Anyway...
There are 2 ways to unroot. The first method is to download the superSU app from the Google play store. SuperSU is a root management app and has an unroot option built into it. The next method is using ODIN like you are using, however you have to find the right ODIN stock .tar file for the bootloader you're on (or a compatible .tar that lets you downgrade like NB1). Once you have the right .tar file, just flash over what you have and it should get you back to 100% stock without root.

Okay, so I downloaded SuperSU and did the unroot option. It loaded for a few minutes, then the app closed, I rebooted my phone and SuperSU was gone. I really don't know how to tell if it's still rooted or not? but I think it is because snapchat STILL won't let me login. in order to tell if it was still rooted or not I redownloaded SuperSU (bc Idk any other way of knowing if it's rooted or not) and now when I open the app it gives me an alert saying "root undetected" and the only option it gives me is "how to root" and I can't do anything on the app. Thanks for the help.

No problem, always glad to help. You can check to see if your phone is still rooted by getting the app called "root checker" from the Google play store. Since you did the unroot via superSU and it disappeared, I am guessing you're now unrooted. However, you should go download root checker to be sure.
