Hi some time ago I was using the widgetlocker app and I loved one of the experimental features that disabled the softkeys, the google now and the notifications bar so pretty much the only way to unlocking the phone was through the slider, so if I made the slider icon invisible, i'd have a simple secure lock screen which only I could unlock. Anyways widget locker doesn't have this option anymore plus I dont like how the music widget doesnt appear and dissapear when you have music playing like in the stock lockscreen. So I would appreciate if someone had an Idea on how to make my lockscreen like this again, btw im rooted. THANKS EVERYONE!!

Is it possible to just change the lockscreen background but leave the rest of the lockscreen the same?
I know that there are several applications which will provide an alternate lockscreen but I would much rather keep the original if possible.

I'd like to know this too. Even my HTC Tattoo could have separate wallpaper and lockscreen backgrounds. Why not on the desire?

At a guess it's something to do with the live wallpapers.
search the market for WidgetLocker.

lockbot is a good alternative, you get several styles of lock screen and all are customizable
Just installed Lockbot Free to check it out, not very impressed to be honest, the original lock screen appears for a couple of seconds before the Lockbot one which ruins the whole appearence.
Have I done something wrong or is this just how it is?

OK, bought & installed WidgetLocker which seems much better. There is still a delay if you lock the phone & then turn the screen back on straight away where it shows the original lock screen but it is negligable. I haven't experimented with all the options yet but it seems pretty comprehensive.

On of the most frequent things I is turn on my phone, unlock it, view a text and then dismiss the notification. Is there a way to make this process shorter? I want to be able to view my text on the start screen and if i choose to, dismiss it? I still want a lock screen, but i want to be able to view and dismiss my notifications from there as well. I have heard of a few apps where you can see the text on the lock screen, but none do it well or show the text with/on the lock screen. I have cyanogen mod and use lockscreen gestures to go immediately to text, but wish i could just swipe the notification away with on less step. If its not possible, this is a feature i feel would be a great addition to cyanogenmod.
I'd like to know about any solutions as well.
I'm thinking something akin to Lock Screen Info on iPhone, or the new iOS5 lockscreen.
I'm currently using WidgetLocker.

if you're using widget locker you could use Simple SMS widget and put that on your homescreen.
otherwise... maybe try miui?
I really like stock android.
Is there anything that can handle most, if not all notifications?
Not sure if I understand what exactly you want. If you use widget locker, leave the notification bar active so you can pull down and clear all notifications that way.
If you actually want to read the text just get a messaging widget such as colorize widgets or Simple SMS Widget, or Messaging Widgets and throw it on widget locker.
Hi I was wondering if anyone knew how to remove the clock on the lockscreen, i have a nice background picture I want to use but the clock is in the way. I am rooted running CM 10.1 Also I tried using WidgetLocker, but I want to keep the pattern and when i use this after swiping to unlock it brings me to the stock lockscreen. Any help would be amazing thanks

Hold your finger in the middle of the clock, it will show an option to remove it.
is wondering is there any way to disable the swipe down to unlock the lockscreen widgets ..
with alot of widgets and hd widgets as well on the lock screen when you sipe down you get alot more detail and info , wondering if theres a way to have it like this without having to swipe the widget down to "unlock" them ?

Post Lollipop update on Indian N900, widgets (shortcut) icons are gone from the lock screen.
I tried doing deep diving in the setting but couldn't find one. Is there any way we can get the widgets on the lock screen.
If not all the widgets, even Phone / Whatsapp (any one widget) will do. Your help on this is highly appreciated.

Ha ha, no, no way you can enable widgets on lockscreen, one of the very goodness of LP, wait till you find more.
Maybe third party lockscreen apps will support them, no idea.
