There's a new Android phone available, so you know what that means: open source junkies get to take a look under the hood thanks to publicly-available kernel files. Motorola's post for the Moto G comes a few weeks after it officially went on sale, which is pretty typical. You can download the kernel source code for the Moto G over at SourceForge.

There's only one Moto G model at the moment in a GSM flavor (though new models should be coming soon enough), so there's only one entry at the moment. You can expect the files for the Verizon version and any other localized variants to be posted at the same place just before or after their release.
Kernel files are a big help for ROM developers. With a low price, wide availability, and a software that's pretty close to stock Android already, the Moto G should be very popular with the custom ROM community. There's already a group of XDA forums posted, complete with a healthy development sub-forum. ROM addicts, go get you dev on.

It Maybe Awkward Rewarding For A Rom Porting. I Was Attracted by That Rom And Need To Use On Moto G.So,This Idea Flashed Up.
Requirments:
*It Can Be A Buggy Build,But Make Sure It Boots Up.
Do Some Hard Work and Make It Yours!. This is Chance For You Devs.
This Is Not a Scam,Forgery Etc.After You Made,Ill Donate You.Assurity:good:
Any Dev There?
Sent from my Moto G using XDA Free mobile app
twenty-five dollars do not value weeks of porting and fixing bugs.
I'd focus on getting enough support from the community here and find a good dev and then pay him realistically...
I'd aim around two hundred, better the double, for a perfect port of libhybris, the actual OS updates itself officially...
So get enough people that like it, find a dev and maybe start a collection... like kickstarter or similar.
oh and by the way, it's not a ROM but a whole operating system, there are no Android apps running on it.

Sony has unveiled its plans to release 7.0 update for its top devices, and that includes X Performance. Although an obvious thing, it's good to hear from company, and know that it's paying attention.

As a spiritual successor to the Moto G3, will there be some decent custom ROM , Kernel and mod development for this device? Especially its coming to more countries like India and Canada.

Since I have the device, you will get TWRP, official CM, and probably my "Squid Kernel". With that, it should be easy for others to bring other custom ROMs and kernels.

In light of the emerging Vault 7 dumps, I have begun to wonder if any of the CIA's leaked Android tools could be used to gain or exploit root access/ allow a custom boot loader to be installed on the AT&T G5. If anyone with programming know-how would look into this I'm sure many of us would be interested in any possibilities that might emerge from this avenue.

I will grab a look.. maybe I could end up with some info .
BTW - anyone tried requesting AT&T to release the flashabe version for LG G5?

Yes, I have been asking them for months. I just reminded them we're still waiting last week.
So far, AT&T's employees have been less than accommodating on this front. Some of them have given deceptive answers/ or appear to be unknowledgeable as to the nature of flashing a device.
Hi, im going straight to the point.
InvisibleK updated and uploaded his device tree, vendor and kernel on github for the Verizon G Pad 8.3 LTE Table aka VK810.4G and i just build the rom against his work.
So far so good, rom is kinda "functional"
Wifi works
Bluetooth works
There are some graphics glitches, gps, sensors and telephony doesnt work yet TM.

[VK810] InvisibleK's Lineage 14.1 ROM for the VK810 Verizon GPad 8.3
Hello all, I have recently run across InvisibleK's ROM for the VK810, with LineageOS 14.1! This is my first post after years of lurking XDA, and thought to make a thread here since this is not mentioned anywhere. It appears to function normally...

How to install it? I always stuck at LG logo after installing.
