Lately I have been contemplating the purchase of an s view cover. It seems like it would come in very handy for me.
But seeing how I will most likely run AOSP based roms I wonder if it would even matter.
From my understanding, the most we could use it for would be to automatically turn on and off the screen.

I don't see it working on AOSP seeing how its a Samsung feature

can you post the link, please?
S view cover can be used on AOSP rom merely for activating screen. The preview Caller ID and answer without open the s-cover function will not work.
I tried with Danvdh GE edition rom.
Hey guys,
I just bought a brand new Nexus 4 from Google Play and I rooted it first with AOKP but now I'm on CyanogenMod. Within a couple of days my keyboard started to become so laggy that it just crashes while I'm texting or writing an email. I switched ROMs and I installed kernels to see if anything helps but after a few hours it gets back to the same problem.
I don't know if I should unroot it and go back to stock. Or what I should do because this is extremely annoying.
Any sort of help would be appreciated
Thanks!

Could it possibly be with anything else you install? I've never had a laggy keyboard before. Are you using the keyboard that comes with the rom or installing your own? I'll use either the stock keyboard or SwiftKeys.
Also do you have a large dictionary or other addons?

Thanks for your reply. I just have normal apps like Facebook and music players. I am using the keyboard that comes with the ROM itself, and no I don't have any addons or anything.
I'm really thinking about unrooting and then rerooting it again to see if that helps

I just find it weird because I've had absolutely no laggy keyboard at all with my Nexus 4 (with either stock/rooted or with this SlimBean 4.2.2), using either the stock keyboard or SwiftKeys, it's a pretty powerful phone too so even swiftkeys with it's predictions shouldn't become laggy. I suspect there's something else amiss especially if you have this problem on more than one rom.

Thanks bro but I'll just try unrooting/rerooting to rule out any other problems

lol, root isnt the problem. unrooting it will amount to washing your cloths because your car is leaking air out of its tires. but, it can be cm. 1st, try just deleting the keyboards data in the main phone settings, app, all, then delete the keyboard apps data. if its not fixed, then boot into recovery and wipe your dalvik cache and cache. if still not fixed, try a different rom or different keyboard.
Hi Guys,
dont know where to start this thread, but i thought this could be the right place. If not, sorry for that
Following problem
Today i flashed (clean) a new update of Xylon on my Nexus 4. Usually I use Swiftkey 4 for writing. Installed and set up SK4 like eveytime before. I also set SK4 to my standard keyboard. Some minutes later i wanted to write again and suddenly the aosp keyboard was on. Dont know why. Well.. changed again to SK4. But the whole thing started again. Does anyone know that problem or knows a solution?
But now theres the crazy thing! On my girlfriends phone (One S) happens the same thing today! (Flashed an update today, swiftkey4 as main keyboard.. open some text input and theres aosp keyboard now.. changed back to swiftkey and wrote... next time again aosp keyboard..)
I hope u know what i mean and u can help me!
Thanks so far
Cls

i can just disable aosp-keyboard.. and already tried it.. then no keyboard shows up and i must also apply swiftkey again..
This used to happen to me. Did you restore apps with Titanium or something similar? It would happen when I would restore keyboards with app data using Go Backup. Uninstall the app and then install it from the play store...this worked for me.

Did you try to Greenify the swiftkey app? it will cause that.
So all this started when you updated the roms? Have you checked the rom thread to find out if others are having this issue?

I have started to use greenify recently on my note 2. Didn't really need it on the nexus 4 but this happened a while ago. I may have tried it on the N4. You could be right.

You could try a new launcher before rooting if you want to start out slow. Nova is pretty nice for example.
Here's a good place to start reading about rooting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219803

You can try out the i9505G rom.. Pure nexus experience. However if you've never rooted or flashed a rom before I suggest you install one of the many launchers available in the play store. Nova launcher is one of the best ones out there.
Hi, I had exactly the same issue, recently switched from iOS to HTC Sense 5 and now to S4. I personally hate touchwiz and find it unusable but love the s4 hardware, so I tried several launchers which did not really address my issues with TW. Without any experience and a bit of research I rooted my phone, installed a custom recovery and flashed GE 4.3 Rom. Works flawlessly, except for a battery drain which is going to be fixed soon.
I highly recommend this - definitely the best phone I've used.

I will flash the google edition rom when google actually release it ''officially'' for the GT0i9505. I have read somewhere on this board that they wanted to do this @ a later date.
Start out slow with a custom launcher like Nova Prime and then read up on rooting and flashing, once you feel comfortable, flash the GE rom and enjoy the AOSP feel.

I recommend Nova Launcher if you don't know about flashing Custom ROMs. otherwise Jamal did a pretty good job at his 4.2.2 GE ROM for the i9505.

Flash the Google edition of the S4 Rom and you'll feel right at home especially coming from a nexus 4.

Hey guys, first off I would like to say that Im new to the forum again, and if this is in the wrong spot, go ahead flame away lol.
I'm having a hard time finding a good rom for the Sprint S4 that can include the wifi tether. every application that I use gets denied by the phone's system. What im looking for is a rom that allows me to use the wifi tether, and keep the IR functions. I used to have the HTC and Droids and didn't have a issue like im having with the new s4....Can someone help lead me in the proper direction.

Do I need gaps or anything. Right now I'm running cm10.2
Flash a touch wiz rom.. just about every TW rom has hotspot hacked out the gate.. no need for wifi teather
I believe sacs rom is TW so most Google Apps are included. Read the OP and try it out. ..

Just flash hot spot mod zip on your stock rom, no need to flash a rom...btw I tryd a couple roms and always end up back to sacs roms

Looks like it's pretty unanimous, If you want a rom, check out sacs custom rom. It's based off stock so you won't lose any features, and it's tweaked to where some people are pulling over 30 hours of battery life
4 out of 5 people have recommended it
Let me also recommend sacs' rom. It's reason I rooted my phone.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4
so the sacs rom wont need to have a secondary anything for the hotspot to be active and pass the block sprint has.
SACs is awesome! Everything works and hotspot will work as if you were paying sprint for it.
Sac's ROM FTW!! I' on 42% right now with 1 hr 45 min on screen time and total of almost 20 hrs! I dare any other ROM to beat that
Just got my galaxy s4 still don't know if I should root it or not.

Just take some time before you root. Make sure it not defective and just give it a test run so you know after you root its not causing you problems
Members are expected to research and read through the development threads before altering their device. The only thing you will get here is a list of all the ROM's because every member has found what is best for them. You can get the same list by looking at the first few pages in development. Try each Rom out until you find what you are looking for.
