App similar to a Radar Detector? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am looking for an app to use On my note 3 as a radar/laser detector. I don't have an actual radar detector so I don't mind spending a few bucks. I also have an iPhone 5S if you know of any apps there.
Any suggestions would be awesome

Try trapster. In the app store. Users post active and often used speed traps

Good applications for fitness?

I heard there was an application for iphones that counted pushups and situps. Is there any like this for android? What applications do you feel are the best for fitness on android?

Droidfit and Sportypal get my vote.

I use Calorie Counter by Fat secret. Doesn't count push ups and all that but it's free and has food and exercise diaries and a weight tracker. Pretty good if you're trying to keep your weight down and watch what you eat. Honestly haven't even tried the exercise part yet.
I like the Cardiotrainer app, from work smart labs. GPS based tracking and distance, calorie counter. Its free, and uses some paid addons, but is fully funtional for the free version. can be set for different paces, ie running, walking, biking, etc. Has online tracking as well as global "leaderboard", which is fun. Can also be used indoors with pedometer.
I just started using DroidFit and I think it is a nicely done app. You have to manually input all the information but I think that helps give you a more precise experience.

I use Mens Health & Run Keeper.
I recall using an app that you used once a day, and it gave you a simple task to perform (like standing on your tippy toes for 15 seconds). Then you mark it as done and it tells you how many others have done that task. I've been trying to remember the name of it. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

[Q] Which do you use most: app or web?

Pretty simple poll here, just want to know if most people use the XDA app more often or if they're more often using the web to access XDA.
Some people put half their message in the subject, and last time I checked, those don't show up in the app. Maybe some confusion could be avoided if we stopped using message subjects altogether, no?
I would say I'm about 99% web (visit often while 'working'). And for the record, I think I left this open for 30 days.
Definitely apps

I'll bet 100% of the people who use the website get better battery life out of their phones because XDA app just hammers my battery

When I 'feel' I have something important to share, I feel as if I need to spew it all from my laptop.. lol also when I have attachments to share, (without using db) but since db can be used, mostly app for me.
I tried the app, but it really sucks. In fact, I don't know why I still have it installed.
EDIT: Just uninstalled it and purged the backups of it. Good riddance!
When I am home and have the laptop open I will use the browser. When I am out I use the XDA app. I am probably on it more on the phone than the computer.
99% app. Even with its drawbacks just dang convenient.
The app got the thanks button...now if it gets multi quote

If you mean xda only, then I would say the last 5 months its been xda 100% of the time for me. But if you mean things like g+, I went the web way, just because I use gmail app to get G+ notifications, banking, ebay, paypal, things like that I use the websites from my phone, not the apps.

Another user and I'm sure many others too, have mentioned downloading the tapatalk app from Samsung apps supposedly the same thing as the xda paid app version.
I would say 75% app all of the time. I use tapatalk, there's other forums I can follow also.
The app is so easy to scan for updates on my phone.
95% web
4% app
1% osmosis

Sky go

Anyone fancy having a go at making sky go work for JB and the note2? Dont even bother trying to get it workimg for root!

Never going to happen, sky's inbuilt protection is ridiculously good now. We cannot even edit the app anymore as it does a server side check for a particular signature.

So were gonna have to wait another year for Sky to make it work with JB, they're so slow its ridiculous.

Look at the Xbox 360 Sky Go player still hasnt had an update to change it with a metro style. I am not holding my breath.
I dont think sky are slow its just sky prefer iphone over android.
No the problem is sky don't trust android users so they spend too long on trying to build protection into the apps.

SkyGo on Note
I have the original Note running ICS which I run SkyGo on using a side loaded APK.
I guess the issue is the O/S rather than device as GT-N7000 isn't a supported device either.
I work for Sky and I'm currently beta testing the app and it does work on both the note 2 and on jb. See my post on the themes and apps section. The current version of Sky Go in Google Play does work on the original running ICS

lets not get peoples hopes up regarding root though. Sky will always block this for no legtimate reason (although they quote that it is because their content providers are worried about copyright infringement, which is nonsense as jailbroken iphones still use the same app).

So when will it be ready.
I paid a lot of money for the note 2... And pay a lot of money to sky from the subscription.

I'll try to address all concerns here. I don't think Sky will ever allow the app to work on rooted devices. Not sure why though, beat in mind I work in sales, I'm only testing the app. As to when it's available, I'm not sure. It's in phase 2 of beta testing right now. Also bear in mind, Sky Go is a free app. You pay for what you get on the tv, the app is an added bonus. I will ask though about the rooting issue and as soon as I get an answer I'll post on here
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
I dont see the issue with rooting tbh....seen as though sky go is all server based (you cant hack it to get a free account etc) I dont see why they blocked rooted devices from opening the app in the first place :duh:

How to get my imstagram app up in the rankings

Hi everyone. I have just published an app to the playstore. What it does is that you sign In with you instagram account pick a photo then I put it on a T-shirt and deliver it to the customer.
Problem is that when you type in instagram in the search my app is quite far down the list so therefore quite hard to see.
I've tried different keywords changing the title, description and even category but none of them seem to be moving it further up.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

Maybe try uploading to this website in the appropriate section of course. I'd put it on at least a few more websites like App brain. You could also put a video on YouTube on how to use the app even if it's very simple. Things like his could get your app to used by more people. This is just an idea as I've never developed an application but it's worth a try I guess. Good luck!

Anyone knows a better camera app?

I come from a Galaxy S and every time I ser the sh*t of camera app is on AOSP... Dotes anyone know a port from other phone or a better camera app.
Please dont spam saying that we have the best camera app.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
AOSP are the only ones that work with little flaws. Try searching for camera apps here but most of them have a lot of extra features which we might not find useful.

Download one of the many camera apps from the play store, for instance Camera Zoom FX is popular

Seems to me you're looking for Samsung's signature slightly-exaggerated-color-depth-and-out-of-control-shadow thing, which is pretty common in people coming from a Galaxy phone. I'd recommend Vignette on GPlay; that app will get you the picture quality you're looking for.
Stock camera is solid if you ask me and I take high-end photographs for a living, haha--no fluff no nonsense, it's all in the know-how etc
