Hi Guys,
I need a good advice on mobile app assessment.
I was suggested the use a landing page as an assessment tool prior to the development process.
The idea is to build one page website, which will describe the advantages of the mobile app.
The page will offer to enter a user's email address with the promise that the app will be sent to the provided email (because it's in a beta stage - so it's not on the market yet), now, once a user will enter his email, he will not get any email about the app.
The point of all this is to assess the need of the app by calculating the number of email submissions divided by number of visitors.
I was told that a reasonable percentage of registrations should be around 40%; less will be count a NO GO in terms of business value.
I would like to hear your opinion on those matters:
- Is it common practice to use a landing page to assess mobile app?
- What is the weight of such assessment tool?
- Is it recommended to solely use this kind of assessment tool?
- What registration percentage can give a good feel on the app demand; is it around 40%?
- What is your recommendation of assessment strategy before developing mobile applications?
Thanks ahead

I have a proposition for any developer that's up to it. I need to build an app for Directv (also Dish in the future) technicians. It will include the following features:
-Contact list with important DTV contacts, with the option to add custom contacts for supervisors, etc.
-Browser add-on or mod of some kind that will allow the use of the camera as a barcode scanner to populate fields within the browser.
-Spreadsheet or something that can use camera with barcode scan to keep track of inventory, it will need an option to save a file every day and be able to email it to the desired recipient.
-Spreadsheet to keep track of jobs completed and amounts to be paid.
-Expense tracker that will be able to take pic of receipts, input and track mileage, and other expenses.
-Satellite finder, there is already an app out there called Dish Pointer Pro, it uses the camera to show you approx. position of satellites in the sky. If we can build something similar only geared only for Directv satellites, that would be great. If not maybe just a shortcut to that app.
-List or rather searchable database (maybe on a webserver if file size is an issue) of all Directv remote control codes for TV, DVD, etc.
-Flashlight
I will be selling this app in the market and will split profits 50-50 with the developer for as long as they continue to develop and support it.
I can do the graphics in photoshop (I am a amateur web designer but I am pretty good) and all of the marketing for this software via my Installation supply website at www.lcisupply.co and word of mouth to other installation companies here in AZ.
I will also be developing PC software and a Web Interface for supervisors to log into and check on inventory and expenses etc. to go along with it in the near future.
My goal is to develop an all-around software suite, that will make the technicians jobs easier and also help the installation companies keep track of inventory and pay for their techs. The android app is just the beginning of what I hope will become a widely used technician management system.
Please ask any questions you may have.
PM me for serious interest in becoming the developer.

I don't understand why it hasn't been done. The code to do it is already in java! Search the forums for testsign.jar
I know everything you need to do to get it done but I don't have a development environment at my disposal. Help me out and I'll show you how to convert your jarred up code libraries to run on android!
Please and Thank You.

New application proposal: ZeroNetAccess (ZeNA?)
Concept: an app that can block other apps network access.
Market alternative: DroidWall (root only, low market potential)
Methods: Maybe by modifying the apk manifest and resigning? Im not sure if there is a framework you could subclass for this.
Why: i turned off stats reporting for an app and i saw it writing reports to the web from logcat. Google took our rights away by not letting us do this from the application settings. Its my device and i have to pay the bill not google or the rude ppl who made the app. I will never understand why we were not given the right to administer mobile data access rights.
Potential: highly lucrative. People want to save money nowadays. In that respect voiding phone warranty for root access may not sit well with potential customer.

For rooted devices try DroidWall
Application Proposal: Web Page to PDF/HTML Safari Plug-In
Concept: Seriously?
Why: Cant save pages from the browser I safari always reloads the page when you come back to it from other activities (pointless nethog!) whats the friggin cache for anyway? It is better to save an article copy that you could view on the computer later or add to your info library if you write books or do any kinda technical research than it is to save a bookmark that may become 404 not found. Researchers nightmare!
Methods: execute shell command wget on page source. Use regular expression to get media list. Build directory tree. For each media call wget. Done.
Potential: medium. Not many people are so technically inclined.
Usefulness: extremely high, especially with zip/+email caps.. Roundabout source code viewer for nosy/curious folks.
Average potential, stream lehigh usefulness I would sell for a buck 99. Free (1 ad per saved page, no zip email)

Application proposal: WarBastard
Concept: wardriving app featuring google my maps! Maps are shared globally by locale. Signals can be pinpointed by triangulation through cross reference of mac address, signal strength and previously detected locations in a global locale based database. While we are at, throw in a google navigation intent, and a compass with distance to closest accesible AP! Dont stop there! I wonder where that cell tower is located?
Purpose: to aid weary travellers and cheap bastards to connect with their loved ones and services over open networks. Services could also be used for cellular network signal diagnostics across hundreds of thousands of devices.
Potential: astronomical I would pay 5 bux. Better yet 12 bucks per year. Free (1 ad per download of database, 1 ad per connect to AP. Possibly integrated with APs for increased revenue potential across the board.) The map data can also be used to find good places to set up an advertising AP 4 even more potential earnings.
Anybody wanna pay me to sit around and do this all day? Lol.
SERIOUSLY you are looking at my qualifications. Asking 50k p. yr. to start Project Mgr./Analyst/Sr. Developer. consulting options available. Willing to relocate. Pm for inquiries/proposals.

You should use the search function: ZipSigner.
It implements in the Titanium Backup and signs it on your wish.

You are correct. I should never have assumed that this wasn't already in the market. Actually I didn't really plan to use this to sign titanium backups. For my purpose however the concept is the same.
* edit Human beings arent the fastest search engine but collectively we are the most accurate information sources on the planet. feel free to quote me on this
I thought that it would be better to ask someone who might know than it would be to search for something that may not exist. If I had access to a computer I would have no questions to post. Only answers! Being that I am stuck on my android for the time being, I appreciate all the help I can get!
Thank you for providing me with another helpful for resource!
* Edit: Dear brainmaster, words cannot express my level of gratitude! I am truly overjoyed by the passing of this shortcoming. Signapktic is exactly what I was looking for and I never would have found this application had it not been for your assistance. The topic of this thread is kick ass apps wanted. Even though this is an application that no longer needs to be developed (because real developers don't reinvent the wheel unless absolutely necessary,) you have met or exceeded the topic issue with flying colors!

New application proposal: Launchpad Homescreen Widget
Concept: a widget that will pop up an on screen menu (complete with icons) onClick similar to pc desktop start menus. Customizable shortcuts Horizontal or vertical (and scrollable) layouts by preference and Customizable folders.
Why: I would rather have a feature like this than an app drawer any day. This would allow individuals to organize launcher short cuts by task. It would also be great if it were possible to open files in the system such as pdf, video, music or text files with appropriate application. Another great feature would be the ability to launch shell scripts. I have searched the market and nothing like this was found.
Potential: high. will save customer time allow them to become more visually organized and task oriented as well as adding more visual appeal to the home screens. $5.99 I would buy it! Time limited trial only.

Recently, one of my friends inadvertently installed an application called Du Speed Booster in his mobile phone while he used the mobile phone to browse the web.
In reproduction of his operation, I found that this application induced the customer to install it by intimidation type promotion method:
I have recorded a video to record the whole reproduction process:
Key points:
1. When accessing the web, the mobile phone will pop up a page prompting that virus infection has been detected in the mobile phone, the mobile phone needs for full scan;
2. After clicking the scan, the mobile phone accesses a page prompting scanning the mobile phone, after the completion, it is prompted that there are 11 viruses detected in the mobile phone;
3. After clicking the button "now remove the virus" in the page, the mobile phone will jump to the installation page of Du Speed Booster.
Du Speed Booster is an application subordinate to a Chinese company Baidu which is listed in NASDAQ:BIDU, their scampish type promotion behavior is very popular in China mainland, this kind of promotion way not only lowers the personal experience of mobile phone use, but also destroys the good ecological environment of Android system, So suggested Google to take measures to correct mistakes and nip the damage in the bud.
The behavior of the Baidu has obviously violated the most basic standard of behavior for a listed company, the manager of Google Play ,Google may take measures to remove Du Speed Booster off and warn Baidu in time.
At the same time, I also hope that the company can stop this kind of behavior and make apologies to users on this issue.
From a sincere Android user
This is due to promotion method, but not by Baidu.
I think you may have made something wrong with Baidu, Since Baidu would not do the promotion itself to make it been punished by Google.
As I know, it should be the website's owner, who is using illegal method to push Baidu‘s product.
Baidu has been announced to the promotion companies several time that, they should not use the similar method you metioned to promot their product.
We seek developers from any part of the world for an innovative mobile app project.
This project is dedicated solely on Football in a country in Africa.
For the eventual developer of this app, all the payment will be done through this medium. Although we are willing to pay between $1500-$1800 or maximally pays $2000 on this job
PROJECTS’ MAJOR COMPONENTS
News feeds, Videos/highlight shows, live score, Interactive communities, Feedback/suggestions
OVERVIEW
To design, built, operate and later transfer a football (soccer) mobile app.
OBJECTIVES
To pull news and other specified contents from web-portals, blog sites to the app. All this must be done without slowing down the app. invariably; we are talking about a sorting algorithm that is robust, fast and easily assessable to the app. IT MUST NOT SLOW DOWN THE APP.
Alternatively, creating a pool at which the app can interact with. All the news, videos et al will be aggregated in that pool and the app can eventually interact with it.
SPECIFICATIONS
The major components will make use of strong sorting algorithm because for instance, all the news components will be sourced from different web sources.
For LIVE-SCORE components, we are looking at an sms-based auto-app-update-lives-core. For instance match updates can be sent via sms to a dedicated phone number which must have been programmed to automatically update on the app. However, we will always appreciate if there are better, and cost effective options to achieve this feat.
OUR REQUESTS
The design must be simple but captivating,
The navigation must be easy
Must be on different version of Androids, iOS, Window Phone and Blackberry
Please when applying, endeavor to email me for further briefing.
The match fixtures, result and league table components must be easily navigable and more importantly, easily updatable.
The featured football/soccer clubs must have their logos attached to them. (We will supply those logos)
The app logo and naming must be unique. We will welcome inputs from you on this.
We are proposing a back-end kind of connection to match-day videos/highlights on a website. This app must have proper referencing of the source website, same goes for the news too.
The feedback component of the app must be able to send feedbacks/suggestions to the app admin.
We are yet to decide if the app will have an authentication pane with it, where one can sign-up, have a profile and log-in and out. But if it will, then it must be very simple- Username, phone number, email address, supported football club. The user log in page must be able to allow each user to log in automatically.
The app must have an interactive community, where app user can intearact based on the football/soccer clubs they support.
CONCLUSION
Please note that we are more interested in anyone/group that can achieve our BOT (Build, Operate and Transfer) option for us. We will strictly follow your own proposed remuneration afterwards.
There will be an MOU to be jointly signed by both party before the start of the project . This MOU must state your specified time frame for setting up the project, and also operating it.
Please note that all financial consideration will be paid to you ONLY when you are about to transfer the project to us.
More importantly, the App must be able to have specified sizes of Advertisement pane (This is a very important component).
For the eventual developer of this app, all the payment will be done through this medium. Although we are willing to pay between $1500-$1800 or maximally pays $2000 on this job

custom links and landings
Hello!
Due to multiple demands from our partners we released a separate section with landing pages. Now all you have to do is simply launch the traffic, landings will handle the rest! Currently we have 50 landings in public and over 50 landings in a row to be integrated, and we will do our best to have at least 3-5 of them integrated daily. Please note that all landings are multilingual.
Also, if you have a demand for some specific landings, or if you have any landings that you world like to be integrated with us, please feel free to contact us.
Please note, that our landings also have a {post} variable, which is extremely useful for any torrent/download/mp3 traffic, which might requite to pass a user a specific variable file name (e.g. if a user looks for "witcher-the-movie.torrent" file, he will be redirected to a torrent download landing page with "witcher-the-movie.torrent.apk" file name). Such variable will increase clicks-to-downloads conversion rate dramatically.
We are ready to offer our partners CPI payouts! (For verified partners only). You can get up to 10 cents for US install instantly! However, please keep in mind that revshare will eventually get you much more.
If you have any questions, please contact us [email protected]. We will be happy to assist you with the integration or answer any of your questions.

retention
Hello!
Few words about retention:
This information will be useful for our traffic brokerage partners, who are able to target the traffic by manufacturers. Let’s talk about the retention – the ability of our service to generate ads on various types of devices. To put it simple, there are two types of retention – technical and human based. While we are taking care of the latter, it’s up to our partners to improve the technical retention.
Doing this is simple – just target the right manufacturers.
The best performing vendors are the ones that are mostly present in Tier 1 and Tier 2 countries and less – in Tier 3 countries.
The best one is, of course, Samsung.
Our service will keep running for months - at least approximately 25-30% of initial installs.
The same good retention can be observed on Motorola, Asus, LG, Nokia, Lenovo, Sony, Alcatel, HTC, Asus and others international vendors.
The bad retention is typical for Chinese vendors, largest of which are Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo.
Please avoid targeting these ones, because it would be just a waste of money and, while targeting good-performing vendors, you would increase your ROI dramatically.
traffback
We are glad to announce, that we have added a traffback URL to all of our landings and custom links.
With its' help you are able to boost your monetization heavily and drive the significant part of your traffic (normally, it is 10%-40% of the total number of clicks on your landing page) anywhere you want - for example, to push subscription landings.
Technically, this traffback is a popunder, which pops up when a user hits "download" button or any other part of the LP. This popunder is shown only when a user closes the LP. That means, that the traffback URL doesn't affect the conversion rate in any way. Also, our tests showed, that the traffback converts very good.
Properly speaking, this is not a traffback remnant low quality traffic, but more like a proper HQ additional popunder traffic.
our rates
Dear partners, you keep asking us, how much can you get for this or that number of installs for a specific geo.
If you already have an account with us, you can find the answer in the “Rates” section. Specifically, you can see system average CPM rates for the last 7 days, as well as estimated CPI rates, which you can keep in mind while buying the traffic from ad networks. For example, such data is super useful if you work with Smart CPM. You can set those rates per each geo and ad network will do the campaign optimization by itself.
Also, please keep in mind, that those CPI rates are calculated for a one month pay-off period, considering standard traffic structure and behavioral pattern. In other words, if you work on a revshare, you should get those rates within the first month of the install, but, eventually, for the whole life cycle of the install, you will get twice more revenue.
Currently our rates are following:
Formats?
Demand for which all ad formats do you support? I might have something we can discuss about.
