Sorry if I'm somewhat rusty!
Last time, when 4.3 was released, I flashed it by downloading the stock Nexus 10 image from somewhere ( Don't remember where )
And I have a custom kernel etc now, so my questions XDA. Where do I get the 4.4 stock image for the Nexus 10? Can you point me to a thread with the ADB commands to flash the image?
Thank you on forehand :highfive:

Did something stupid that I never ever do. I forgot to back up my STOCK ROOTED rom.
I usually do this before flashing any roms in case i wanted to flash back. Anyone have a stock, unmolested, rooted rom for N4?
Or is there a thread with the stock roms? (remember reading something about Google removing it from their site) :
Flash the stock ROM in fastboot. Then flash recovery and then the su.zip
You'll be stock with root permissions.
See jubakuba's sticky if you need help.

Interesting, the stock Nexus 4 images are not on the Google Developer page.
This link has mirrors of stock images, so use it for now:

Hi,
I just baught myself a Google Nexus 7 and coming from Apple's locked iOS from an iPad Mini I want to know a few things..
1. What are the latest Android version for stock Nexus 7? 4.22 or 4.3?
2. I want to root my Nexus 7, are there any beginner guides on how to do it or is there any complete packages available for download?
3. I'm on a Mac can I as easily root my Nexus 7 as if I were on a Windows machine?
4. I want the latest, speediest and most stable ROM where all stuff works. Can you point me in a direction of which to choose from?
Well I guess that's it for now.
Thanks again.
Rasmus, Denmark
The latest version is 4.3
To root check the stickies here, there are some guides. They should work for Mac too, because you just use fastboot to unlock the bootloader, flash the recovery and then you root via flashing a zip in recovery
There's no best rom. Just check some roms in the Dev section and check the bugs. If there are (nearly) no bugs and you like the interface/additional features flash it. Otherwise use the stock rom, it's great too :good:
The obvious question is, why do you want to root? Do you need it? Because if you are just a beginner, you should better read much and then (if you still need root) root it

Just one question more. If I choose to flash and root a stock image (4.3). Will I be able to receive OTA updates from Google in the future or do I have to root the device again upon an update?
Thanks.

I guess it's better to be on stock rom without any modifications to prevent issues with the updates
And as far as I know it's impossible to update on an unlocked bootloader and custom recovery, but I'm not sure

believe me finding them is not going to be hard especially after day1. When they are released you will know
I just flashed factory images of Android 4.4 on my Nexus 4.
I used the flash-all.bat method to flash 4.4. My question is, did my bootloader and radio also get updated?
Where can I find official Android 4.4 version numbers for Firmware, bootloader, and radio for Nexus 4 image?

Reboot your phone while holding the volume down button. This will put you in fastboot mode (big "Start" at the top). Look at the bottom of the screen and you will see bootloader version and baseband version and other info.

I recently realized that I use no root requiring apps or custom ROMs on my Nexus 7(while I keep my phone rooted for many a reason). Now that I hear the 4.4 update is being pushed, it occurs to me that all keeping a custom recovery and root on my tablet does is complicate updates. So I want to unroot, return my recovery to the stock, and get myself all ready to wait for the update to push out. What would be the best way to do this that does not require me to lose data/game saves/have to reset everything up?
Fastboot flash the stock recovery and don't worry about su because the ota will take care of that.

I am sure this has been answered somewhere and I did search the forum before posting but right now i am pretty excited about 4.4 and would like the experts to answer this regarding grouper :-
I got the 4.3 update OTA on a rooted 4.2. I later rooted the 4.3 but did not remove any default apps. I also have frano kernel installed and TWRP recovery. Does the kernel and custom recovery affect the OTA process? Am i safe for 4.4 OTA? or shall i unroot, install stock kernel and also stock recovery?
Thanks
You should be fine if you install the stock recovery before the OTA arrives

Open the SuperSU app on your device.. Go to the app settings and select the option to unroot/clean up.. Reboot. That is all.

Yes, you'll want the stock kernel and stock recovery installed.
On grouper, it can update independent of changes you have made to the system and recovery. This isn't true for all other nexus devices, for example, mako. Doing the 4.4 update will get rid of root for you, but it will flash fine even if you have a custom recovery. You may need to flash stock recovery manually if you don't want custom recovery anymore.

In the past, that has failed for me. I'm still one update behind on 4.3 because it would not install and I was too lazy previously to unroot and get it to install.

Do you know where I can find the recovery itself? Only ones I find in my searching are TWRP and Clockwork.

Did you ever find the stock recovery? I'm looking to unroot without losing my app data..
PS, sorry for bringing this back from the dead, but it is exactly what I am looking for.
I just received the OTA update of 4.4.2 so I wanted to know what exactly I have to do to update without any errors. I'm Rooted on Stock 4.4 with unlocked Bootloader and Custom Recovery TWRP and also I have the LTE hack enabled. Do I just fastboot flash stock recovery and let it update through OTA or do I have to push the original build.prop from 4.4 too because of the LTE hack? I really don't want to factory reset because I had to do that before in order to update from 4.3 to 4.4. Thanks in advance guys.

I literally just flashed from 4.4 to 4.4.2 by flashing the entire factory image. I didn't lose any data. Same boat as you, rooted and using TWRP with LTE hack.

Downloaded the 435mb OCCAM KOT49H factory image from google? Then you put the entire .zip on the sdcard and flash it through twrp? Is that it?
I'm rooted and have twrp also, but i don't know if i can just flash the full factory image. I want to be stock and rooted!
Thank you!
EDIT: Sorry, i have found the solution in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145848
I didn't know you could download these files and use them as "manual OTA update"..
Thanks again
